The dragon's harem

Chapter 1136: Vicious Clash

With a pained growl, Arad barely managed to stand up, the blood flowing from his wounds boiled as they closed. "AH… you're a damn fast one."

"A mix of lightning magic and time magic. I slow time to move faster." Cain told Arad what he was doing without hesitation. The passive smile on his face never faded away.

"Aren't you afraid that telling me might bring your defeat?" Arad cracked his neck and took a stance, ready to attack again. This time, he won't be caught off guard by the overgod's overwhelming speed.

Arad's sword, the dragon slayer, disappeared and was replaced by a roaring mass of black void, barely contained in the shape of a stick. Soon, all the muscles in Arad's body fell under extreme strain as he got ready to move as fast as his human body allowed.

Cain extended his right arm to the side, pointing the blade of the sword toward the ground. "I smell time magic, you can use [Time Slow] as well. Good, at least you won't get defeated like earlier." Soon, the two turned into a blue of light and darkness.

Merlin was still sitting on the mountain peak when the whole thing suddenly changed, the shockwave so powerful that it almost cracked her barrier. And the tremors didn't stop, they grew stronger with each passing second.

She looked down with a scared face and could see Arad's magic inside the cave colliding with an equally massive magical signal, but this one seemed more controlled, like that of a wizard.

She tried to use scrying magic to peek inside the mountain, but like all of her attempts to locate the heart or see it, those spells failed to pierce the thick stone barrier. Whatever Arad was doing inside, he was fighting a monster that was as powerful as he was… And thinking back to the damage Eris did in the abyss without being able to harm Arad… The thing inside the mountain could probably destroy the whole beast land if it got out.

Arad's void sword slashed at Cain's face, only for the attack to get swatted away by the overgod's pale hand, followed by a vicious kick. Arad wasn't going to take it silently. His body twisted around and sent a flying fist at the overgod's beautiful face, almost caving his face into his skull.

To no one's surprise, both of them boasted some stupid healing ability, and their wounds were disappearing just seconds after getting them. And for the first time in weeks, Arad found himself trying to push this human body of his into its absolute limits.

Arad tried to transform into his half-dragon form, but was immediately faced with the painful reality. It takes a fraction of a second to transform, and that was enough time for the overgod to cleave his head.

To the eyes of a normal human, the cavern was covered in sparks and blinding flashes of light, and even to the most trained of fighters, Arad and Cain could only be spotted as a hazy blue among the deafening sound of clashing blades, torn flesh, and shattering bones.

The mountain itself tumbled, and the ground around it crackled, sending all of the nearby beast villages into panic. For a moment, they thought the thing was about to explode into a volcano, but it didn't. The whole mountain shook so violently that Merlin gave up on sitting and started flying above its peak, staring down with a horrified face.

Hati, on the other hand, looked at the mountain with a stern face. Her daughters could notice that she was visibly mad, annoyed at least.

Arad and Cain were both driven to the edges of the cavern. While Arad's face dripped with sweat and looked as pale as that of a ghost, Cain, on the other hand, looked as sharp as he was before. His blue eyes flashed with light as he looked at Arad with a smile, "You really can fight."

"Said the one who doesn't look exhausted at all." Arad growled and Cain giggled, "I mean…I needed the stamina for my wives." He rubbed his chin with a grin. "So what now? Are you done?"

Arad looked at his void sword. As powerful as it was, for some reason, it didn't seem to work on Cain. He didn't have time to think about it. So he dismissed the dark blade and decided to try another approach.

^I can't beat him in a sword fight. Even with me accelerating faster and faster, I can't seem to catch up to him. He is a tiny bit ahead.^ Arad suddenly summoned two weapons from his stomach, his two most powerful weapons.

With a single flick of his wrist, a long staff appeared in Arad's hand. Decorated with a clear glass orb, the staff seemed to shimmer with magic.

Seeing it, Cain smiled, and his sword started twisting like a snake. Soon, he too was holding a staff in his hand. Cain's staff was made of pure steel, and without a clear top and bottom, it looked like just a steel rod.

But Arad had another weapon hidden inside his stomach, and it was time to pull it. Not many opponents survive and push him to pull it out. With a spark of magic, the vicious thing emerged out of thin air. A tiny kitchen knife.

Cain looked at the knife, lifted an eyebrow, and smiled, "What a strange enchantment. Its maker must've really hated nipples." Yes, that was the exploding nipple knife. Facing an enemy that couldn't be damaged with normal means, true damage weapons were the strongest.

"As long as it works on you." Arad growled and took a stance, ready to attack at any moment.

"It'll work on anyone." Cain looked at the knife, "The enchantment works on anything that has a nipple; it ignores all defences. You can call it the mammal killer instead."

The two of them suddenly disappeared, clashing into a vicious battle of magic. A battle that was enough to heat up the whole mountain, melting all of the snow on it and making it glow red. If not for the vicious storm, the whole beastland might've burst into flames.
