Chapter 29: Chapter 28 Reset
"Jiang Shu, I'm here!" Wolf came running with a grappling hook, but then slowed down, his voice tinged with hesitation, "This cabinet... did you open it?"
At this moment, because the escape pod was cut into several pieces, it had grounded on the riverbank.
"Um, I found a mechanism and opened it." Jiang Shu, with his back to him, stuffed the box into his chest.
He didn't plan on letting Wolf know about this Black Silver, not because of its value, but because he was concerned about what the fox said, "Black Silver is a game entry ticket;" he wanted to figure out the truth by himself.
"Wait for me next time, it's too dangerous on your own," Wolf cautioned, and then looked inside the cabinet, where a decapitated corpse was starkly revealed, a rich scent of blood following, "What is this!"
"Disciple Chief Giles." Jiang Shu pulled out the comparison information generated by Tablet Spirit, admitting openly, "I did it."
An autopsy could easily determine the real time of Giles's death, so Jiang Shu couldn't blame the fox for Giles's death; he might as well admit it outright.
"You…" Wolf hesitated, finding it hard to believe, "You took down a Disciple Chief?"
Without the right weapon, even he would find it very tricky, right?
"The fox hypnotized him; once he attacked me, he would fall asleep," Jiang Shu explained without batting an eyelid, "That's what the gift was for, he was a moveable feat."
"Um." Wolf nodded, then clapped Jiang Shu on the shoulder as usual, "Ha ha, you really did a great job this time."
Paw Patrol accomplished a great feat.
Despite seeing this comment, Jiang Shu remained expressionless and simply turned off the flight mode of the Tablet Spirit.
From now on, you walk by my side.
Three Tablet Spirits, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, immediately gathered, hovering at its side, screens flashing with comments like "Solid ?," "Cliffhanger Warning," "Ineffective on Wild Pokémon."
Jiang Shu glanced at it and smiled to himself; no matter what, these four Tablet Spirits' comments were the only voices from home he could access in this world.
"I'll call Old Tang." Wolf used the grappling hook to drag the cabinet and the body inside it onto the shore, "A Disciple Chief, eh? You'll probably get a secondary merit; you've made a fortune this time."
"Not just me, this is teamwork," Jiang Shu shook his head, "If it's a secondary merit for two people, it means a primary merit each."
"Ha ha, okay, a primary merit each," Wolf laughed. Jiang Shu's deadpan humor once again made him realize that this fellow was just pretending to be serious.
"Wolf, Mr. Jiang!" Old Tang came running with several officers. He waved towards the direction of the Disciple Chief's body and the officers immediately went to inspect it.
"Um, Police Chief Tang, this is the Disciple Chief you've been investigating." Wolf glanced at the body as the officers from the Thirteen District Police Station dragged it out, then verified its identity on their wrist watches.
An officer ran over and showed the comparison data to Tang Hexun, "It is indeed Disciple Chief Giles."
"Um—" Tang Hexun responded satisfactorily, joy visibly spreading across his face, his heart having fluctuated greatly tonight, but in the end, the outcome was excellent.
The officers from the Seventh Police Station remained unharmed, and not only that, they had raided the Disciples' secret base and found the missing military arms in the wreckage of the transport ship.
Now, the felon Giles was vanquished; everything had turned out for the best, and the Seventh Police Station had achieved a stage victory in clearing out the black organization.
And all of this was triggered by the young-faced Mr. Jiang in front of him.
Tang Hexun's gaze towards Jiang Shu grew even more approving, and he couldn't help but say, "How much is the Seventh Police Station paying you? I'll double it."
"Hey, hey, hey!" Wolf exclaimed anxiously, "You old bachelor! Poaching right in front of me!"
"So what?" Tang Hexun didn't care; he had thrived in his position at the Thirteen District Police Station due to his ability to recognize and utilize people well, "A good bird chooses the tree it perches in."
He could tell, this Mr. Jiang was very impressive.
"Get out of here." Wolf sneered, looking at Jiang Shu, "Do you want to come here? Would your sister agree?"
"No," Jiang Shu shook his head, giving Tang Hexun an apologetic smile, "Sorry, I just want to stay in the Seventh District for now."
"No worries, if you have any troubles, come find me anytime," Tang Hexun said in a smiling manner, delivering a lethal blow, "The Thirteenth District Police Station is not like the Seventh District... I call the shots there."
"Let's go, let's go." Upon hearing this, Wolf knew he couldn't compete and immediately started to leave with Jiang Shu, walking toward the car and then suddenly turning back, "The credit for nurturing this Disciple belongs solely to Jiang Shu. Make sure to pass it on to him."
"Of course." Tang Hexun waved his hand and went back to oversee the work at the transport ship.
"Let's go." Jiang Shu walked to Wolf's car, "Is there anything else?"
"Hmm, do you want to go see Gary?" Wolf asked, glancing at his wristwatch, "The hospital sent a notification; the surgery was successful. Gary is out of danger and has already awakened."
"Let's go see him." Jiang Shu nodded, got into the car, and sat in the passenger seat.
Wolf started the sports car and sped away from the riverside.

"Cough, spit…" Ryan spat out, looking up at the light above him, still feeling dizzy.
It was as if a constantly spinning drill had burrowed into his brain, scrambling all coherent logic.
Much like his own tumultuous, nauseating life.
This feeling had persisted from the moment he realized that he might have been hypnotized.
Ryan was well aware of the reason he ended up like this; someone had hypnotized him and didn't "awaken" him.
"Today, July 19, is the day we reunite."
"Now... it's your turn."
"Remember, this is what Lonely City owes you, and this is merely the first installment of the debt repayment."
Wearing black stockings, Ryan stood at the entrance of Huang Kong Bank, repeatedly performing this Deception.
These memories had been circling in his mind for three whole days now, an ineradicable affliction.
Yet, he had no impression of himself being the fox; the torment of scrambled memories made it impossible for him to distinguish between illusion and reality, just like...
Just like those cyber mental illnesses...
The unawakenable mental illnesses.
"Bang—" The basement door was pushed open, and two men walked in, one slender like bamboo, the other robust like a bear.
Both wore masks, the tall man wearing a white mask with three black lines on the left half of the face, while the slender man wore a fox mask.
"You... finally appeared." Ryan's voice burst from the bottom of his throat, his eyes bloodshot, "Why... why would you do this?"
The fox smiled, "No reason, I needed your research results and also 'Ryan' as my new identity, that's all."
"Research results?" Ryan squinted his eyes, "A cure... for cyber mental illness?"
"Yes." The fox smiled again, his eyes narrowing, "Unlike you, I succeeded, I..."
"Reset them."
He clapped his hands, and the sound of synchronized stomping echoed from outside the door.
