Chapter 6: The Villan You Know??
Chapter 6
The alley was silent, except for the distant hum of the city. Subey could feel it—the weight of something unseen, something carefully orchestrated. The man with the scar wasn't just standing there for intimidation. He was waiting.
Caroline, ever sharp, sensed it too. "Where's Mia?" she demanded, her voice edged with control, but her fingers flexed, ready to move.
The man chuckled softly, rolling his shoulders as if this was all a joke. "You're asking the wrong question."
Subey narrowed his eyes. A chill slithered down his spine. "Then what's the right one?"
The man grinned. "Why are you still alive?"
The alley lights flickered. Then—darkness.
It happened instantly. A movement in the shadows, the whisper of steel. Subey barely dodged the first blade. A second attacker lunged from behind. Caroline spun, knocking one aside, but another took his place.
This wasn't a random ambush.
It was a hunt.
Subey fought hard, but they weren't trying to kill them. They were stalling.
And then he saw it.
A figure—at the far end of the alley. A shape, barely visible. A presence. Watching.
A voice, smooth and commanding, cut through the chaos.
"That's enough."
The fighting stopped. The attackers backed away instantly, melting into the shadows like they were never there.
The man with the scar stepped aside, his cocky smirk gone.
And then, the figure stepped forward.
Subey's breath caught.
It wasn't Arjun.
It was Mia.
But something was different.
She wasn't trembling. She wasn't afraid.
She was smiling.
Caroline stiffened beside him. "Mia…?"
Mia tilted her head, eyes glinting under the dim light. "You really came all this way for me?" Her voice was soft, almost amused. "That's sweet."
A pit formed in Subey's stomach. Something was very, very wrong.
The man with the scar chuckled. "You thought she was in trouble?" He turned to Mia, shaking his head. "Tell them, love. Tell them who you really are."
Mia's smile widened.
Then, she whispered:
"I was never the victim."
The world tilted. Subey felt Caroline's sharp intake of breath beside him.
Mia stepped forward, her voice calm, deliberate. Cold.
"You chased ghosts. Followed every little clue I left for you." She glanced at Caroline. "You fought so hard, didn't you? Thought you were saving me."
Her eyes darkened.
"But the truth is, I was always leading you here."
The air went still.
Then, from the rooftops above—a dozen red laser sights flicked on.
Each one aimed at Subey and Caroline.
The alley wasn't a trap.
It was an execution.
Mia gave them one last look—almost pitying.
"Goodbye, Subey."
Then, she raised her hand.
And snapped her fingers.
Gunfire erupted?
