Supreme Lord: I can extract everything!

Chapter 1098: The Curses’ Desire V - The Nest

[How are you doing?] Snievor, the Nine-headed Emperor Hydra, asked Selena in her mind.

"Why do you keep asking that?" Selena clicked her tongue in annoyance.

[Why do you think I’m asking you that?]

"Because you want to annoy me. You are the best at annoying people. Specifically me!" She snickered but clearly didn’t mean it seriously.

[I can leave you if you want me to. I left a trace of my Essence inside you to keep chatting with you. To make sure my little Nest Leader won’t be lonely.] Snievor commented sarcastically.

"Oh, well…you know. I think I was just joking," Selena sighed deeply.

[To think you aren’t busy enough controlling an entire galaxy alone. I still don’t know how you managed to ensure that those idiotic humans won’t be slaughtered by the next full moon.]

Selena was, just like Snievor said, in control of an entire galaxy. She managed the galaxy as part of the Human Protection Service. There were several human races, including some Hyumans, who’d escaped the control of the Supreme Human Alliance before it got too bad, but also other races. The human races weren’t a minority in the galaxy but were far from the control channels. That was probably why convincing everyone that the humans weren’t bad was so easy.

The humans there had never been in control of power and had been living nicely with their neighbors. Some Hyumans were powerful and possibly strong enough to attain more control, but they didn’t use their strength to acquire power. Instead, they tried to receive more votes for the upcoming election.

There were multiple interesting elections in the galaxy, but the one they talked about was the control of a planetary system. Humans mostly occupied the planetary system and could thus be considered part of the human territory. Still, the Planetary Mayor had been an Indguit, a member of another race in the galaxy.

The Hyuman was fighting with the Indguit to win the next election, but it wasn’t the average fight most people might think about. On the contrary, the fight was a debate to determine who was the better ruler. Their Awakened power didn’t matter. If anything, it mattered whether they still had a territory or how long they had been in control of a territory. After all, that determined their ’experience’ at the job. The size of their territory then determined the "Level" of their years-long experience.

Some other points had to be addressed before the debate and to determine the new position as a Planetary Mayor, but none of them were important to Selena. The humans had been integrated neatly into the galaxy long ago, and there were only a few issues for her to take care of.

She felt useless most of the time but was then reminded that she was the only one capable of traveling quickly through the entire galaxy if something were to happen. Other races may suddenly attack in an attempt to kill all humans in the galaxy. If she wasn’t present…what would happen? Everyone would die.

She didn’t want that to happen. Yet, at the same time, she was bored…and alone.

The Nest Leader lost everything to the Supreme Human Alliance a long – very long – time ago. She resented the Supreme Human Alliance for long and fought them to her heart’s content for centuries. She killed many Hyumans and probably far more innocent people than she wanted to acknowledge. But she was tired of it.

Now that the Supreme Human Alliance was defeated, she didn’t feel the need to kick them anymore. There was no need to kick the Supreme Human Alliance after their powerhouses were defeated and their treasuries plundered until nothing was left. The Supreme Human Alliance had enough enemies who wanted retribution and revenge but had nothing more to give to others.

It was already a wonder that the Supreme Human Alliance didn’t cease to exist. Well, somehow, it already did. Those freed of the Blood Incursion resented the Supreme Human Alliance. They didn’t use the name without cursing or crying ever again.

That didn’t make it better for the Nest Leader. She had also lost a lot, yet everyone expected her to be a good person. But then again… it wasn’t like she wanted to kick them anymore. She received her revenge even if it didn’t feel as good as Selena had hoped.

At this point, the Nest Leader hoped the innocent people would stay alive while the rest of the SHA would crumble and fall apart.

No one else should suffer because of the SHA anymore, not even the population of the Supreme Human Alliance. They were also victims.

But now that everything was over, Selena was just…lonely. The Nest wasn’t what it used to be after the Curses followed their desires and left. Some remained partially, like Snievor, while others returned in their true forms occasionally, like Eevee’s Rainbow Dragon. Still, it was not like it used to be. But it was also not like the Nest was still needed.

They were great prospects for the Human Protection Service, but others could do the same. The Nest’s Curse User didn’t need to do it, former or not.

However, it was a fact that the Curse Users of the Nest needed the love of other people the most. They lost the most from the Supreme Human Alliance. Therefore, they deserved some rest, love, and attention – if wanted.

Not every Nest member applied for the Human Protection Service, but most did after they thought about it for a while. And nobody regretted it. If anything, everyone enjoyed their new lives. They lost a part of their lives and maybe even the purpose of their lives after the endless fight with the Supreme Human Alliance ended, and their Curses were freed, but they received something much bigger in return.

They were pulled back into civilizations that accepted them for who they were. They could use their wisdom to help others and receive love, friendship, care, and much more. Enjoy more content from empire

It didn’t seem like much at first, but it was exactly what the Nest needed—what the Curses had been hoping for.

For their Masters to learn how to live independently and to love themselves again.

That was the Curses’ Desire.
