Supreme Casanova: Ultimate Harem System

Chapter 148: Followed!

Hugo was only a few minutes from his dorm, cruising through the city streets like a king surveying his kingdom.

He couldn't help but notice the countless glances he'd been getting. People on the sidewalks, in their cars, even a couple on a scooter—everyone seemed to be sneaking a look at his gleaming silver Benz.

Some smiled, some whispered to each other, and Hugo? He felt unstoppable. Even though half of those glances were simply a product of his imagination, the other half was real.

His confidence skyrocketed as he adjusted his rear view mirror and caught a woman on the sidewalk nudging her friend to check out his car.

He smirked, tapping his fingers rhythmically on the steering wheel. 'I knew it. This Benz is a magnet for attention.' He didn't even care that his phone had been quiet. The looks alone were enough to feed his ego.

Out of curiosity, Hugo opened his system interface, his mind still buzzing from earlier events.

He scanned through his stats, his heart skipping a beat when he reached the [Social Status] bar. It had gone up by three full points!

"What the—?!" Hugo exclaimed, nearly swerving in shock.

This was monumental. Social Status was one of the hardest stats to raise. He had spent weeks trying to nudge it up by a single point in the past, and now, a single drive in his Benz had shot it up by three.

'This car isn't just a cheat code. It's a whole new game!' He laughed to himself, feeling like the protagonist of a webnovel with a golden finger so OP it should be illegal.

But then, something pulled him out of his euphoric daydream.

A sudden jolt of unease made him check his rear-view mirror again. His grin faded as he noticed a black sedan three cars behind him. It had been there for the past ten minutes.

At first, he hadn't paid attention—there were always cars on the road—but now, his gut told him something was off.

Hugo's grip on the steering wheel tightened. His instincts, honed from years of being a driver for his gang back in the day, kicked in.

He flicked on his turn signal and made a sharp right, away from his usual route home.

The sedan followed.

A bead of sweat rolled down his temple as he took a deep breath. 'Alright, calm down, Hugo. Maybe they're just going the same way.'

He decided to test them, taking another left turn into a quieter street. His heart sank when the sedan followed, keeping the same distance.

Three more turns later, and the truth hit him like a punch to the gut. The car wasn't even trying to hide it anymore—they were tailing him.

If a car followed you for 4 right turns or 4 left turns, then it was definitely following you. Chances were, you were in trouble and hadti all the cops.

But now Hugo couldn't call the cops.

'No way. This isn't a coincidence.' Hugo's mind raced as he tried to figure out who they could be. Thieves? No, that didn't make sense.

His car was new, but it wasn't like he was flaunting wads of cash. And then it hit him, a cold realization that made his stomach drop: 'It's them. My old crew.'

The thought made his blood run cold. They must've found him somehow. Maybe someone had spotted him buying the Benz, or maybe they'd been keeping tabs on him all along. Either way, this wasn't good.

His breathing quickened as panic threatened to take over, but Hugo wasn't about to let himself lose control.

He opened his system and activated the Aura of Zen. Immediately, a wave of calm washed over him, silencing the storm in his mind.

"Alright," he muttered under his breath, his voice steady now. "If they want a chase, I'll give them one."

He shifted gears and pressed down on the accelerator. The Benz responded instantly, the engine roaring to life as the car surged forward.

Hugo's eyes darted to the rear view mirror, and his heart sank again. The sedan had sped up too.

'They're not backing off.'

His expression hardened, his focus narrowing to the road ahead and the mirror behind. The streets blurred as he weaved through traffic with precision, every turn and lane change executed flawlessly.

The Benz handled like a dream, its masterful engineering making each move feel effortless. Hugo felt like he was dancing with the car, every twist and turn perfectly synced.

But the sedan was relentless. It stuck to him like a shadow, matching his every move.

Hugo's thoughts were surprisingly calm, thanks to the aura. 'Alright, they want to play this game in broad daylight? Fine. Let's see how long they can keep up.'

He took another sharp turn, the tires squealing against the pavement. Pedestrians stopped and stared as the Benz glided around the corner, its silver finishings gleaming under the sun. But the sedan wasn't far behind.

'Damn it. These guys are serious!'

Hugo gritted his teeth and pushed the car harder, the engine roaring as he accelerated.

He zipped past slower vehicles, narrowly avoiding a truck as he darted into another lane. He glanced at the mirror again and cursed under his breath.

The sedan was still there.

His mind raced, trying to come up with a plan. He couldn't lead them to his dorm—that was out of the question. But he also couldn't drive aimlessly forever.

The aura of Zen kept his nerves in check, but Hugo knew he needed to shake them off soon. His calm, logical thoughts turned into a single resolve: 'I'm not letting them catch me. Not today.'

The chase was on, and Hugo was determined to win.
