Supernaturalville Book One: Tomb of the Haunted Bathroom

Chapter 1: Chapter 01: Something Weird Is Happening!

A scream in the middle of the night got twelve year old Sandra Starbright sitting upright in her bed, and fell over to her side on the hard wooden floor. At first, Sandra thought it could be her imagination getting away with her. Because she was a heavy sleeper, and could sleep through anything.

Sitting upright on the hard wooden floor, in her bedroom. Sandra cleared her throat. "Mom…?" her voice echoed in her dimly lit bedroom. There was no way her Mom could hear her all the way upstairs in a dark room, by herself.

It was the weekend. So, it didn't surprise Sandra. Her parents love going out on the weekends, clubbing and enjoying each other's company. Mom hardly gets to spend time with our Dad. He works all the time at the graveyard. Her dad doesn't get to spend time with us, except on the weekends. It was a nice Friday night. Nothing kept the two from getting separated for long. They liked to have fun and keep their only daughter safe in their loving care.

Sandra couldn't tell if she was alone in her two-story Victorian house, because the house was old and creaked a lot. Sitting up, Sandra screamed again! When she saw somebody running past her half-open bedroom door in the attic upstairs, where Sandra lived.

Hearing innocent, childlike laughter, Sandra was convinced she was not alone in her house! "Please! What do you want?" Sandra yelled, but the young intruder in her house wasn't going to leave her alone.

Sandra slowly started to get on her feet. She waited a few moments before checking the hallway. Then, somebody's shadow darted past her bedroom window. And closed her door with a loud click of the knob! Locking Sandra in her untidy little attic bedroom, alone.

Screaming, Sandra ran to her closed bedroom door. Trying to turn the lock, the door wouldn't budge. She was locked inside her attic bedroom, alone with somebody who wanted to frighten her to the death.

"There's got to be a reasonable explanation for this!" Sandra queried herself. It didn't make sense. Who would be here at night, knowing she was alone by herself? Sandra stayed home with her Mom. She didn't go to public school. Her mother taught her homeschooling on a school website with a laptop computer. So, it wasn't like Sandra could have made any friends at school in Supernaturalville.

Although, Sandra was quite likable and could easily get along with anybody. She could make friends with any stranger. But right now, Sandra was anything but scared to be left alone in her trapped attic bedroom.

She didn't have a cellphone. The only phone they all used as a family was in the living room, downstairs. There wasn't a way out of this situation. Turning to look out her closed, curtain bedroom window, Sandra pulled the curtains aside. And looked out the window.

She gasped! Looking out the front driveway, Sandra saw her Mom and Dad walking together! They were enjoying a glass of clear champagne in a bottle. Laughing and talking as they walked to their red sports vehicle in the driveway of our big house.

Sandra had to grab their attention! Why didn't she like what she was about to do? Sandra started to open the window lock. But it was jammed! She couldn't unlock the window to the sealed shut! This can't be good! Sandra grabbed hold of her curly black, stringy hair, and screamed.

Opening her mouth to scream for help, Sandra realized her voice was parched and dry. She couldn't find her voice box, and her throat was scratchy. They couldn't have been out for long, Sandra thought. Did they not know Sandra wasn't left alone?

Couldn't they hear something else causing a ruckus in their big, noisy house? It was getting cold in her tall, attic bedroom, Sandra realized. Even though Sandra was dressed in her warmest sleepwear, she couldn't help but feel chilly coming out in her breath.

Then, Sandra gasped. She saw somebody peeping in through the doorknob of her attic bedroom. It was a young man about the same age as Sandra. "What do you want?" Sandra asked, hugging herself to keep from shivering.

"You've got to check this out!" the young boy said excitedly. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to be your new friend. I want to show you something in the bathroom. It's crazy!" he said. Opening the door slowly, Sandra gasped with startlement.

Seeing nobody there, in the dimly lit hallway, Sandra wondered who she was talking to! Innocent childlike laughter echoed throughout the empty hallways. Making Sandra walk over to the door to their attic. She cautiously poked her head out of the doorway.

There was nobody there! Sandra's heart skipped a beat. She is not only freezing cold, but also nervous with guilt. Because she couldn't tell she was annoying her. Thinking she was all alone in her big, tall, spacey two-story house.

Sandra slowly opened her attic bedroom door. Looking out in the dimly lit hallway, Sandra saw the shadow of the little boy she was talking to earlier. It was in the upstairs bathroom. Sandra started to ease her way down the dark path leading to the end of the upstairs bathroom.

"You're getting warmer," the little boy in the bathroom teased Sandra. Sandra almost felt relieved she wasn't going mad. Thinking she was letting her imagination get carried away with her. Somebody knows she exists. And doesn't want her by herself.

Suddenly, Sandra felt the cold air lift her above the ground! She started floating, and for a moment, it made her feel giddy and warm inside! She started laughing like a little girl at a tea party with her friends she never had.

Sandra wasn't even scared. When she saw the young boy stick out his fingers and point her to the bathroom. To beacon her closer. "You can make it!" the little boy said, laughing. This made Sandra glide higher off the air. And float closer to the open-lit bathroom door.

Every glide she took, Sandra made sure she wasn't going to let some ghost make her believe this isn't all real. She was getting closer to the end of the hallway. Her heart was racing a million miles a beat. Her body temperature dropped some more in the cold hallway.

Her breath came out in small breaths. Sandra gasped when she heard the little boy laugh as she glided farther to the bathroom down the upstairs hall. What could be so important to show her in a bathroom? It didn't make sense. She hoped the ghost boy was friendly. She didn't know how friends with a ghost would make her life even more so believable.

"You're not going to believe this!" Sandra heard the little ghost boy say. Sandra wasn't sure what he meant. But Sandra didn't want to be surprised if whatever he was going to do would prove he was real.

Sandra was getting closer. She could feel like he was pulling her closer toward her. Sandra didn't like she was alone. Her parents trusted her to keep the house in line. If something happens to Sandra, there wouldn't be an explanation for her disappearance.

For most of herself, Sandra must be careful not to get involved with those who might be deceased or living undead. Because they could be deceivers and somebody into trouble. Sandra didn't know how long she could be among the living. Long enough to realize she didn't belong with them.

It seems her parents wouldn't know what happened to their daughter. If they can make physical contact with the mortal realm, her parents wouldn't know she disappeared. Sandra was all too unclear how she disappeared. Except, she was about to meet someone who would explain what was going on actually.

No matter how many times Sandra tried to make peace with herself, she could never forgive her past life better. Although, having parents, both Mom and Dad, seemed like being alone in the family would make Sandra feel accepted.

Feeling like she would be better off herself, Sandra wondered if ghosts would appreciate a friendly companion to understand ghost business. Sandra couldn't go on life without knowing somebody knew she existed, other than her parents.

Whoever knew she existed, Sandra was certain he can be trusted and invited into her home whenever there was something happening to them. Sandra feared beyond doubt, if she met this young person, he might help her. Sandra doesn't know anything about being a ghost. Except she didn't know how to survive as a human being.

What could be so interesting to live undead forever in Supernaturalville if nobody knew she was ever alive? Sandra doesn't know what to believe. How important it was to know she was alive. She was going to prove it.

Before she disappears into world of the living dead. Where she will no longer be herself anymore.
