Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 404: Chapter 404: The Noticed Clown Car

"A white man? Didn't you go to China?" Robert asked Jackie and Jade, looking puzzled. From their previous description, Robert knew they were talking about Kunlun in China. Dragon power, clearly a Chinese civilization's ability, being inherited by a white man seemed strange.

The Shengzhu being a Western-looking dragon among the twelve zodiac signs was already odd enough. If a white man harnessed dragon power, Robert would feel even stranger.

"We're not sure. They said someone named Daniel had a connection with Kunlun and was saved by them or something. But clearly, his connection isn't as deep as ours," Jackie shrugged. He had no discrimination in this regard, but it felt more satisfying for such abilities to stay within his family rather than being passed to outsiders.

"Master, how big is the gap between our strength and yours?" Jade, uninterested in Daniel, looked at Robert eagerly, her eyes shining. "What's the potential of our dragon power? Can we catch up to you?"

"The gap? It's actually not that big..." Robert thought for a moment and then showed a tiny gap between his thumb and index finger.

Robert wasn't exactly lying. After using their combined technique, Jackie and Jade were indeed close to Robert's normal strength, though Robert still had other trump cards to boost his power.

"Really, it's just that small?" Jade didn't understand the concept of a tiny universe and got excited, looking at Robert expectantly.

"Yes, your recent performance was very close to my current level," Robert nodded sincerely, looking at Jade.

"As for your dragon power, it's definitely strong. Compared to the qi I taught you, dragon power suits you better, so your progress should be faster. However..." Robert paused, causing Jade's excitement to halt and both she and Jackie to look at him in confusion.

"However, only Uncle Dragon can aim to catch up with me. Jade, you need to focus on school," Robert teased, smiling.

As a former school-hating youth himself, Robert found pleasure in urging others to study, just like when relatives would ask about his grades or homework.

Even if Jade now had dragon power and was different from other children, she still had to hide her abilities and return to school. Her parents didn't entrust her to Jackie and Uncle to become a dropout mingling in the supernatural world.

"Master, you're such a buzzkill. Why mention school on such a happy day?" Jade's face fell, and she looked at Robert with tearful eyes.

"No choice, you're too young. If you were my age, it wouldn't be a problem if you skipped school..." Robert joked.

"Ah! You make me want to grow up faster!" Jade pouted, letting out a classic child's complaint.

"Take your time growing up. If you grow up too fast, I'll get old, and even Uncle might not be able to handle it," Jackie reminded her gently.

"Uh..." Jade's face stiffened, then she sighed and said, "I guess I'll take my time growing up."

Seeing Jade's reaction, Robert and Jackie exchanged knowing smiles but didn't laugh out loud.

"So, Robert, are you not in school now?" Jackie asked as they headed back to the antique shop.

"Yeah, college doesn't really help me. I'd rather use the time to improve my skills. I don't rely on a degree for work, and school can't teach me how to handle enemies..." Robert shrugged.

"That's not necessarily true. Schools teach you to hide when you hear gunshots and to buy bulletproof backpacks in case someone brings a gun to campus..." Jade mocked with a snicker.

Jade hadn't been in the USA for long and wasn't fully accustomed to some of the situations here. However, with her strength, even if someone brought a gun to school, she wouldn't be in danger. The main issue would be if her abilities were exposed.

Soon, they returned to Uncle's antique shop. After a meal, Robert left, telling Jackie to contact him if they encountered supernatural events or hit a bottleneck in their training.

As for Jade, she had to go back to school, as Uncle had already arranged.

Under the night sky, a burning clown car sped past, its flaming tires leaving dark marks on the road.

The flaming car had caught the attention of some individuals and organizations. Even Tony Stark had recorded the clown car, though it hadn't attacked civilians yet. Stark hadn't immediately sought to resolve the issue, partly because of the car's erratic appearances.

The clown car, or more specifically, Mephisto's host, had killed people from several official organizations, including the military, SHIELD, and those associated with Nick Fury's newly formed independent team. This enmity with the official bodies complicated the situation.

Despite attempts to use heavy weapons to destroy the clown car, it remained unscathed, continuing to drive as if nothing had happened. Mephisto's spirit of vengeance didn't take kindly to such attacks, and the organizations' personnel couldn't match his hellish power.

"Where are the Avengers? Aren't they supposed to be a superhero team? What about Superman? Does he only work during the day?" Frustration grew among the officials as their losses mounted.

"Who is the owner of that hideous flaming car? Don't we have any information on them? Are all these superhumans just appearing out of nowhere like Superman and Saiyans?"

"Contact the Avengers and ask them to step in..." someone suggested.

"The car is known as the Clown Car, driven by a supervillain called the Joker from Gotham. He's a notorious figure with countless lives on his hands..." someone provided information on the Joker and his car.

"Contact the Avengers. Isn't Gotham supposed to be under the Wayne family's alliance? Don't they have a Batman? Why haven't they solved this?" the leader's voice echoed in the room.

"Batman once captured the Joker but didn't kill him. Instead, he handed him over to the courts, and the Joker was sent to Arkham Asylum for treatment..." someone familiar with Gotham explained.

"Absurd! A criminal gets away with it because he's insane?" someone snapped.

"Uh..." The speaker's colleague tugged at their sleeve, hinting at the sensitive nature of their comments. Even in a private meeting, such remarks could become problematic if leaked.

"Batman..." Nick Fury's eyes flickered. He had orchestrated this meeting but didn't intend to lead it. His goal was to draw the Avengers into the fray. Since their formation, Fury had been eager to regain control and learn who exactly made up the team.

However, the Avengers' security was tight, and Fury's numerous tactics had yielded no information. Now, he hoped the clown car incident would force them to reveal themselves. Hearing about Batman, Fury's interest piqued.

If the clown car was this strong, and Batman had captured the Joker, Batman must be even stronger. Fury was desperate to bolster his own team and saw potential in Batman.

Still, he hesitated. Gotham was a different beast, almost a private domain for the Wayne family and unwelcoming to outsiders, even those with official standing.

"The Avengers responded. They can't locate the clown car. Without key information, they can't act..." As Fury pondered recruiting Batman, Tony Stark's response arrived.

The Avengers were willing to help but needed more data. Without precise information on the clown car, chasing it was futile. Stark claimed the Avengers lacked the resources to handle distant threats effectively, hinting at their limited manpower.

Whether the Avengers truly lacked the means or were holding back was something only they knew.
