Chapter 144: Avengers IX
Tony dragged Black Widow inside, binding her tightly with his nanotech restraints. "Now stay here until we figure out a way to get Loki out of that little, beautiful head of yours," he said, securing her firmly. Her cutlasses floated nearby, their demonic energy radiating ominously.
"Yeah, we'll deal with that little problem too," Tony muttered, glancing at the floating weapons. "It's weird having these things just... staring at me."
The cutlasses shifted slightly, their eerie voices resonating.
"Who are you calling 'little,' tin can?"
"Must be a scrap heap reject."
"Poor guy."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "Wow, now I see why Dave donated you two," he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes before imprisoning the weapons alongside Black Widow.
"What's going on?" Tony asked a passing agent, noticing the chaos outside.
The agent, visibly shaken, responded, "Loki's gone... and he killed Coulson."
"What?" Tony exclaimed, his voice filled with shock. Without another word, he rushed off, heading toward where the incident had occurred.
he arrived at the cell where loki was imprisoned finding Dave kneeling to Coulson who is cut in half almost.
" what happened here?" Tony asked not believing Loki could defeat Dave.
A few minutes earlier
"You handle Widow. I'll check on Loki," Dave had told Tony before heading toward the cell where Loki had been held. As he entered the area, he found the cell empty.
"You know you can't fool me," Dave muttered, scanning the room with sharp focus. Though Loki wasn't visible, Dave's instincts told him the trickster was inside, hiding.
Suddenly, a faint noise drew his attention to the shadows. "Where is he?" Coulson's voice rang out behind him, but before Dave could respond, Coulson pushed the switch to open the Loki cage and Loki struck. Emerging from the shadows, Loki attacked Coulson with his scepter.
The strike was swift and lethal. Coulson fell to the ground, clutching his chest as blood pooled around him. Dave, furious, turned to confront Loki, but the trickster disappeared just as quickly as he had appeared.
Dave looked around powering up his Observation haki to max level but he still couldn't find him" dam it" he said rushing to Coulson.
Dave knelt by Coulson, attempting to stabilize him, but the wound was severe. "Stay with me, Coulson," Dave said, his voice calm but urgent.
He hurriedly took out the potion o give to Coulson but the wounds were to severe, Coulson died.
Tony arrived moments later, taking in the grim scene. "What the hell happened?" he demanded.
Dave didn't answer immediately, his focus entirely on Coulson. The situation was dire, and time was running out.
[Host, he used the Mind Stone's power to hide from you.]
[Even with all three templates at their peak, you wouldn't have been able to sense him.]
Dave remained silent, his gaze fixed on Coulson's lifeless body. He clenched his fists as frustration and guilt gnawed at him. "Hah… so much power, yet I failed," he muttered, punching the nearby cell wall with enough force to shatter it into smithereens.
"Dave, cool it!" Tony called out, concern evident in his voice.
Dave exhaled deeply and nodded, reigning in his anger. "He used the Mind Stone, huh?" he asked, his voice calm but laced with bitterness.
[Yes, Host,] the system confirmed.
[He wielded the stone with a high level of proficiency. Even with your templates at their peak, the Mind Stone's influence surpasses standard sensory abilities. It manipulates the mind itself, amplifying illusions and creating mental barriers nearly impossible to detect.]
"So, that's the power of the Mind Stone," Dave said, his eyes narrowing as he processed the information. "It boosted Loki's illusions to a level where even I couldn't sense him. No wonder he slipped past me."
"What is this Mind Stone?" Tony asked, looking at Dave.
"A weapon of cosmic-level power," Dave replied, his tone serious.
"Okay, Loki was already powerful enough without any cosmic cheat, now he's a hell of a pain in the ass," Tony muttered, rubbing his chin.
"So, how did I defeat him earlier?" Tony asked, still puzzled.
"He wanted something from the helicarrier, that's why he was here," Dave said, then added, "Most likely."
Dave turned to Tony, his expression hardening. "He won't get away with this. Mind Stone or not, he'll pay for what he's done."
"So, he is really dead, and you can't do anything about it?" Tony asked, looking at Coulson's body.
"I can, but it would be cruel to him. It's better if he rests in peace," Dave said, closing Coulson's eyes with his hand.
"Let's go back," Dave added, and Tony nodded as other agents came to lift Coulson's body.
"I thought you got deadly powers so how come you lose to Loki? Were you in cahoot with Loki?" Captain asked, watching Dave closely.
Dave's expression darkened as he replied, "I'm in a bad mood, Cap. Better not talk to me right now." He turned, walking toward his room.
Closing the door behind him, Dave sat on the edge of his bed, replaying the events in his mind. "Mind Stone, huh?" he muttered, saying it over and over again, trying to make sense of what had just happened. He couldn't find any way to save Coulson. It all happened so quickly.
His thoughts drifted to Loki, his face burned into his mind as he mimicked Loki's lips, thinking of what his next move would be.
"Next is you, huh? So you think an Infinity Stone can help you now?" Dave muttered under his breath. He wondered what Loki had been thinking when he took that step.
"Well, Loki, I will make sure I have a lot of fun with you," Dave said, clenching his fists as he closed his eyes,
On the other side, Fury stood over Coulson, holding a syringe in his hand. He stared at Coulson's lifeless body, his voice barely a whisper. "I still need you, Coulson," Fury mumbled, pumping the syringe into Coulson's body.
The serum is an test experiment it is meant to heal ones body and reawaken them, Fury hoped it works as he looked at Coulson body.
