LGHTNOVELBOOK Chapter 521: Defeating the Mutant
The mutant escaped behind the tree as Selena and Fenrir closed in. Selena would have a hard time tracking the mutant, so the first one to come was Fenrir. He looped around the tree, finding no one, even with his senses.
He hurriedly raised his vision, finding the mutant coming from above. He punched his head and knocked it to the ground.
Selena took advantage of this situation and struck the mutant with a sweeping force to blast him to another tree before the avatar hit him.
However, the mutant had expected this. In fact, two of his tentacles were holding the branch so that when Selena hit him, his tentacles would act as a rope to swing his body upward before coming back down.
"Watch out!" Fenrir shouted.
Selena raised her head, releasing her ena at a fast speed. Although it was lacking in power, it should be enough to block this attack… not that Nathan would allow the alien to do that.
Ten bullets suddenly flew from the side. The mutant realized it at the last second and hurriedly used the tentacles to pull him back, barely avoiding the bullets.
"It seems you're having a hard time. Let me teach you how to fight in guerrilla warfare." Nathan smiled as he stood in front of Selena.
Selena was worried because Nathan wasn't in his best condition, but the latter had already run off to kill the mutant.
The mutant thought he could defeat the exhausted Nathan, but when he sent his tentacles, Nathan accelerated again and avoided all the tentacles in rapid succession. Then, he punched the mutant's face with all his strength, launching him away.
The mutant caught the tree with his tentacles and came to a halt. As soon as he landed on the ground, his gaze shifted to Nathan, knowing the latter had finally rejoined the fight. Even Fenrir had already gotten back up.
And that was when Nathan smiled.
"I wouldn't stop there if I were you."
"!!!" The mutant didn't understand what he was talking about, but he suddenly felt a fluctuation of ena, which made him look at the root of the tree. There was a cube made of ena hidden behind the surface part of the root.
Boom!
The cube exploded, shocking the mutant. It crashed into a tree several meters away as Nathan chased after him.
The alien hurriedly stood up and looped behind a tree to surprise Nathan, but the latter released his bullets, controlling them skillfully so that they would come from all directions.
The alien just used his tough skin to block them because he had to set up an ambush for Nathan.
As he expected, Nathan looped around the tree, finding him not there. Just like Fenrir, the alien struck him from above.
Nathan realized it at the last moment and threw his body backward, barely avoiding that punch.
With him falling on his butt, there was no way Nathan could avoid the next punch. The alien became greedy and leaped toward him, only to find Nathan smiling again.
"See?"
In that instant, another ena fluctuation could be felt as the alien shifted its gaze toward the ground on his left, finding yet another cube.
It blasted him away. This time, Nathan sent forth his explosive bullets and rained them down on the mutant right after he fell to the ground.
The mutant let out a scream as the bleeding on the legs worsened.
Selena blinked a few times, noticing what Nathan wanted to show her. If she wanted to win, she should set herself up in a way where she could utilize the surroundings.
Luring the opponent, mingling with normal people or trees, or even setting up a trap. The only way to win was to outsmart her opponent.
Nathan glanced at her and smiled, as though he was satisfied with her reaction. He secretly released a bullet to Fenrir before heading to the alien.
The mutant rose from the ground and ran away. Nathan sent forth his bullets from the opposite direction, creating a wall that stopped the mutant from getting away.
The mutant hurriedly used the tree to block his vision and climbed the tree. Instead of ambushing Nathan, he jumped to another tree, this time disappearing for real.
Unfortunately for him, Nathan had expected this and sent forth the bullet to lead Fenrir.
Fenrir pounced on the alien from the left.
The mutant punched Fenrir in the face while Fenrir slapped him back to the ground.
Fenrir crashed into a tree while the alien was planted on the ground.
Instead of Nathan's bullets, two huge palms made of ena emerged from the ground, capturing the mutant.

Selena had changed the way she used her avatar to be more suitable for this type of warfare. Instead of summoning the avatar on her back, her avatar formed underneath the ground.
The mutant used all his strength to break free from the avatar's palms, which surprisingly was easier than the first time. His tentacle grabbed a branch and pulled himself up and tossed him to the right side to escape. After all, Selena had come to the front while Fenrir was on his left. The scariest direction would be behind him, since it was Nathan.
The only escape path was the right side. The alien didn't realize that this was the same tactic he executed to defeat them.
By leaving one path open, they managed to force the alien to escape in that path. Obviously, it was a trap.
The moment the mutant stepped in that path, he sensed ena fluctuations from ten different spots.
"!!!" The alien's body shook. He didn't know where to run after this because all the boxes hidden by Nathan exploded at once.
Boom!
"I might not be able to defeat you by myself, but…" Nathan squinted his eyes. "This is over."
Selena had leaped into the air and brought her avatar. Her ena was focused on his fist. The last time, the alien could avoid it with only his legs getting crushed.
But after all those blasts, the alien was not in a condition to get away. Several of his tentacles were already blown away, and the trees had been cleared, so he couldn't move away.
The alien raised both arms as the last effort as the avatar punched him to the ground with full force, shattering not only the alien but also the ground within a 50-meter (164-foot) radius.
