Chapter 1066: Discover What True Magic Was All About
After spending some time with Ethan, Nicole returned to the Eques Manor as if nothing happened.
The two of them shared a promise that would be fulfilled at a later time.
Nicole also wanted to have some closure to her past, which she believed would allow her to move forward.
Once she was back inside her room, she headed straight to the full body mirror and stared straight at the reflection of her face.
"Before I left to see Ethan, you told me you wanted to talk about something important, right?" Nicole asked.
"Yes," the Nicole in the mirror replied. "It's a very important matter that concerns you and Ethan."
Of course, the one who replied was none other than Baradiel. She and Nicole had agreed to use this method to talk to each other face to face.
Although Nicole found it quite amusing, talking to her own reflection, she didn't mind it one bit.
"I'm all ears," Nicole said. "What do you want to talk about?"
"There's a favor I'd like to ask of you and Ethan," Baradiel answered.
"And that is?"
"I want you to…"
Nicole's face widened in shock after hearing what Baradiel wished to ask of her.
However, after regaining her composure, she stared long and hard at the mirror as if to confirm whether she hadn't misheard the Progenitor, whose heart was as cold as ice.
"Aren't you counting your chickens before they hatch?" Nicole inquired. "Ethan and I might not even have that kind of relationship in the future."
"You've been with Ethan long enough," Baradiel replied. "You already know what he's like. Do you really think he is such a casual person? Do you really believe that your relationship will end after he returns your Origin Crystal?
"Would you like your relationship with him to end in that manner? Do you really think I don't know what you're thinking right now? Want to play mind games with me?"
Nicole smiled faintly. Just as Baradiel had mentioned, she had been with Ethan long enough to know what he was like.
Truth be told, she was still on the fence as to whether she wanted to commit to a relationship after regaining her magic powers.
However, Nicole was more than familiar with what kind of guy Ethan was, and she understood that he would take responsibility for his actions.
And the most important part was… she didn't dislike him.
After Nicole confirmed who he really was, her feelings for Mr. Ghost, which she had kept inside her heart, had finally risen to the surface and could no longer be stopped.
"… I will have to talk to Ethan about it." Nicole hesitated. "If he agrees, then I will also agree."
"I understand," Baradiel replied. "As long as he is willing to listen, then there's a chance for him to agree."
Nicole placed her right hand on the surface of the mirror, making her reflection do the same.
"Baradiel, although I don't want to admit it, I have to thank you for everything that you've done for me," Nicole said in a serious tone. "Without you, I would have been treated differently in the Asta Residence. Also, it was also because of you that I was able to meet Mr. Ghost.
"I don't know how you managed to bring the future Ethan to meet the past me. But thanks to that, I was saved. I don't mind accepting your proposal. However, if Ethan and I truly form that kind of relationship, I want him to decide on whether we are going to agree to your request or not."
A moment of silence passed before the Progenitor's voice spoke inside Nicole's mind.
"You've really grown to be a fine young lady, Nicole," Baradiel said. "Perhaps it was Fate that brought us together."
Nicole felt a tinge of pride and warmth in Baradiel's words, which the Progenitor rarely allowed her to notice.
Baradiel was not her sister, mother, or relative.
Even now, she didn't know what kind of relationship they had.
She wouldn't go as far as to call her a friend. But Nicole could feel that Baradiel cared for her in her own way, which allowed her to meet Ethan, and get a second chance at life.

Inside Dud Manor…
Ethan was busy writing a letter addressed to Leviathan, which he planned to give to Illumina before her departure.
After becoming the Guardian of the Realm of Arkanthos and learning many things that were exclusive to his new role the young man was now filled with many questions.
It went without saying that he needed answers.
Ethan believed that Leviathan, who had lived for thousands of years, might just have the answer that he was looking for.
He hoped that once Illumina returned, the answers to the questions that had been weighing on his mind would finally reach him.
'I guess I should also write a letter for Father-in-law,' Ethan thought after he finished writing the letter for Leviathan.
His father-in-law, who was also Illumina's father, was a very humble and carefree King of the Sea.
He quite liked King Betram and hoped that their relationship would become closer over the years. Read the latest on My Virtual Library Empire
Since his White Raven, Dantalion, was on his way to deliver his letter to his grandparents, as well as his other in-laws, he could only rely on Illumina to pass along the letters he had written to her father and Leviathan.
The next day, Ethan bid Illumina and Princess Ariel goodbye.
To his surprise, he wasn't the only one who had come to bid them farewell.
Godfrey had also appeared to bid Princess Ariel a safe journey, which made Ethan and Illumina arch an eyebrow at the same time.
The handsome Vampire Lord, who had become very popular with the students of the academy because of his entertaining classes, had accepted another offer from Professor Rinehart to remain as a teacher for the next school year as well.
Ethan, who had overcome his personal bias against Godfrey, no longer thought of him as a suspicious person.
This was especially true after seeing how he looked at Princess Ariel, who was looking back at him with a faint smile on her beautiful face.
"Make sure to bring me souvenirs," Godfrey said to Princess Ariel after seeing the mischievous smiles on Ethan's and Illumina's face. "Also, tell your father that I'll be paying him a visit shortly after the end of this school term."
"Okay," Princess Ariel replied. "However, he is a very strict person. Make sure to not joke around when you are in his presence."
The two looked like they wanted to say more to each other, so Ethan asked Merric to double check if the Flying Ship was ready to sail.
Merric immediately understood the implication beneath his Young Master's words and ordered his men to inspect the ship a second time.
Ethan and Illumina then moved a good distance away from the two, giving Princess Ariel and Godfrey some privacy.
"I didn't see that coming," Ethan said when he was sure that they were out of earshot. "Did you?"
"I didn't," Illumina replied. "Although he would sometimes joke with her during classes, Godfrey did that to the other ladies as well. Maybe, things just happened like… magic?"
Ethan couldn't help but chuckle after hearing the Mermaid Princess' reply.
"Indeed." Ethan nodded. "Things can happen like magic. Just like how the two of us first met."
Illumina smiled sweetly and held her husband tightly.
"You are the best thing that happened in my life," Illumina said.
"No," Ethan commented. "You are the best thing that happened in my life."
Illumina whispered something in Ethan's ear, making the young man nod his head, and hug her tighter.
Although there were many twists and turns that made Ethan become who he was, it wouldn't change the fact that magic had played an important role in his life.
He hoped that in the future, this magical feeling called love would never die, allowing the next generation of Wizards and Witches to discover what true Magic was all about.
