Chapter 508: Entering the Netherworld (Part 2)
Disciples of the West Sea Sect who qualified to enter the small world for training must at least be disciples who had entered the Inner Sect.
Among those who came down with Wang Chen, there were no lack of descendants from large Noble Clan families.
They came to the Yin Nether Realm with lofty aspirations, carrying the expectations of their families, armed with passion and longing to establish territory and expand their influence.
All this in hopes of obtaining the qualification for advancement.
However, reality doused them with a bone-chilling bucket of water!
There were no warm welcomes, no generous hospitality, and everyone couldn't even catch a glimpse of the City Lord of Weifa City, being arranged around like puppets by Bai Wuchang.
They were completely put into a passive situation.
The unfamiliar world, the harsh environment, the poor treatment made many people's spirits hit rock bottom.
But Bai Wuchang had no intention of accommodating them, as he pulled out a stack of Storage Talismans and distributed them.
"This is the supply for your first month of outpost duty."
The smile on the face of this welcoming envoy seemed to carry a hint of ill intent, "Use them sparingly, if it's not enough, you can only buy more with your own Spirit Stones."
He paused, then added, "Things in Weifa City are very expensive."
"Extremely expensive!"
Upon hearing this, everyone felt a chill in their hearts and involuntarily clutched the Storage Talisman they had just received.
Bai Wuchang continued, "In the absence of special circumstances, you may come to Weifa City once a month to collect the supplies for the following month, and you are permitted to stay in the city for no more than three days."
"Your merits will be calculated based on the outcomes of your pioneering work and the resources you submit."
"One last point, if anyone wants to quit, speak up now; you will not be able to change your mind later."
His gaze swept across the face of each disciple, "Does anyone want to quit?"
They looked at each other, but no one responded.
The situation in the Yin Nether Realm was indeed much worse than they had anticipated, but to quit now would mean no future prospects within the Sect, let alone any chance of joining the Nine Veins.
This was something many of their elders had repeatedly emphasized.
The Sect does not need the useless!
They had to persevere for a year, no matter what, and applying for a transfer back to the Mountain and Sea Realm after one year would be far better.
"No one is quitting, right?"
Bai Wuchang clearly didn't expect any surprises, and he took out a bunch of Jade Slips and scattered them, "Choose for yourselves."
Jade Slips about the width of a thumb floated in the air, emitting a faint glow.
There were thirty-eight in total, just the right number for one each.
A Jade Slip represented a territory, sealed within it was a Geomantic Chart.
Choosing for themselves was essentially a matter of luck, whether the choice was good or bad.
They looked at each other and reached out their hands in unison.
Wang Chen also drew a Jade Slip into his hand, injected Mana to activate it, and instantly a Geomantic Chart appeared before his eyes.
He also received the information related to it.
The territory that Wang Chen had chosen, or rather its code name, was Wujiuwu; it was one thousand three hundred and seventy li from Weifa City and was part of an already explored and cleared area.
His mission was to establish a Defense Area there, to eradicate the sprouting Evil Spirits around, and to gather useful resources and specialties.
"You have three days to prepare,"
Bai Wuchang finally said, "You may recruit subordinates within Weifa City. What kind of people you can recruit, and how many you can recruit, that depends on your own abilities."
"Remember, in the realm of territorial expansion, your fate is your own!"
Bai Wuchang's final words were, undoubtedly, like a heavy stone weighing heavily on everyone's hearts.
Suddenly, they realized they had embarked on a dangerous path from which there was no turning back for the time being!
Having received their supplies and chosen their territories, Wang Chen and the other thirty-seven of his fellow disciples were "hurried" out by Bai Wuchang.
According to this welcoming envoy, what happened next depended entirely on their own performance.
His task had been completed.
And when Wang Chen and the others stepped out of the majestic hall, emerging onto the grand street outside,
a crowd that had already been waiting outside swarmed towards them, encircling the group, each person wearing an excited expression.
"Master, do you need servants or followers?"
"I have been in the Innate realm for ten years, familiar with the areas around Weifa City, and I earnestly ask the Master for the opportunity to follow."
"I am willing to toil like a horse or a dog!"
"Master, Master, I'm at the seventh layer of Qi Cultivation..."
They clamored all at once, creating a din that made one's head spin, leaving everyone unsure of how to respond.
Wang Chen, without changing his expression, extricated himself from a few of the overeager volunteers and walked towards the main street ahead.
Some wanted to follow and continue pestering him, but a glance from him made them suddenly grow timid.
As the saying goes, those who offer themselves too eagerly are often not the best choice; Wang Chen didn't believe he could find the subordinates he needed among this crowd.
He planned to first understand the situation in Weifa City, then go to the territory he had chosen to establish his own Defense Area. Once he had secured a foothold, he would come back to hire people according to his needs.
This was certainly better than choosing blindly.
Sometimes, incompetent teammates can be worse than formidable enemies!
Wang Chen had just walked about a hundred steps when he suddenly stopped.
He turned his head back and looked indifferently at a youth who was quietly following him.
The youth was about fifteen or sixteen years old, dressed in gray cloth, with his neck and left face wrapped in a linen scarf, leaving only the right side of his face exposed, which made him look quite odd.
Under Wang Chen's gaze, the youth shivered slightly and asked timidly, "Master, do you need a guide? I only ask for one Low Spirit."
A guide?
Wang Chen pondered for a moment, then tossed a Spirit Stone to him, "You lead me to the best inn in town first."
"Yes!"
The youth caught the Spirit Stone happily and hurriedly ran ahead of Wang Chen, "This way, please. It's not far ahead."
Wang Chen nodded and asked, "What happened to your face?"
The youth's body tensed.
He hesitated for a moment, bit his lip, and then pulled off the linen scarf.
His left face was covered with dark purple patterns that made him look like a demonic ghoul, a truly terrifying sight.
Wang Chen frowned, "Possessed by a yin evil spirit?"
He had once read about such cases in a book.
The youth lowered his head as if awaiting the verdict of fate.
"It's fine."
Wang Chen said, "Let's go."

The youth was surprised and quickly rewrapped his face, leading Wang Chen to the inn in town.
The inn wasn't far, just a few hundred steps, and Wang Chen saw the hanging signboard beside the long street.
The streets here were spacious, but there were few shops, and most of the storefronts were tightly closed. The pedestrians on the road were hurried, and like the youth, most of them had their faces covered.
But Wang Chen noticed that there was not a single mortal among them.
The youth guiding him also had a Cultivation Realm of Qi Cultivation at the third layer!
Arriving at the entrance of the inn, Wang Chen gave the youth another Spirit Stone, "That's enough, you may go."
The youth caught the Spirit Stone in a daze, watching Wang Chen enter the inn, his eyes revealing a highly complex mix of emotions.
Surprise, touched, astonishment, and more!
