Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 246: Chapter 246: The Underhanded Meeting at Torrent Prime

The days swiftly passed, and on the seventh day, Feng Mo arrived at Torrent Prime, the primary planet of the Torrent System. While this planet technically fell under the jurisdiction of the Mingye Empire, its location at the crossroads of three major factions had long left it in a state of semi-anarchy, rife with shady industries like slave trading and illicit services.

However, ever since it was chosen as the meeting site for the three major factions, Mingye was quick to dispatch a near-T6 warship to establish control over the system, shutting down the seedy enterprises that had festered there. Only the largest entertainment center on Torrent Prime was left open to host Feng Mo and the Giant King.

After securing the allegiance of the Star Giants, Feng Mo returned to the New Humanity's former stronghold, the main planet of their star system. Now, seven days later, he traveled to Torrent Prime aboard the Zhu Yan, accompanied by the Fleet Steed, five T6 Vermilion Apes, and five T6 Iron Dragons. The rest of his fleet remained on guard.

As soon as the Storm Fleet's twelve T6-class starships entered the Torrent System, a video request came through. Feng Mo accepted, and on the screen appeared a woman with strikingly sweet features, her large eyes looking up at him with a mix of admiration and respect.

"Good afternoon, Lord Feng Mo. Welcome to the Torrent System. Please follow the designated route to Torrent Starport One."

The woman's appearance aligned with Feng Mo's tastes, save for her deep blue skin tone, which felt a bit unusual.

The Storm Fleet followed the sent navigation path, and upon docking, Feng Mo disembarked with Xing Shuwen, Feng Xian, and ten crew members dressed in combat uniforms and armed with laser rifles.

On the landing deck of the starport, two rows of humanoid beings from the Mingye Empire and the Star Giants awaited him, with each faction's leader at the front—a towering five-meter Giant King standing next to the nearly two-meter Mingye Emperor.

The Mingye Emperor glanced up at the Giant King's waist and muttered irritably, "Could you squat down, big guy? It's a pain in the neck looking up at you."

"Heh, shorty, I love looking down on you. You want me to squat? Not a chance," the Giant King replied with a laugh.

Despite their roles as leaders of two powerful factions, the pair had squabbled for years, engaging in more verbal sparring than starship battles. Now they resembled two grumpy elders, standing stiffly and bickering with no intention of fighting.

As Feng Mo and his entourage stepped from the light beam, the Mingye Emperor cast an envious glance at the T6 starship Zhu Yan and said to the Giant King, "Big guy, see that T6 ship of his? If we join forces and take him down, we could have everything we want. I've already contacted the Star Mech Clan. If you join, we can split the spoils three ways. How about it?"

The Giant King's expression grew serious, though he quickly shifted his gaze and replied in his deep voice, "Sure, we can cooperate, but I don't trust you not to stab me in the back later. You're as shady as they come."

The Mingye Emperor shot him a side glance, dropping the banter as he said sternly, "Feng Mo has brought nearly all of his T6 starships. You and I can stall him here while the Star Mech and Mingye fleets advance on the New Humanity Star System. Once successful, you can have a forty percent cut of the spoils here and twenty percent over there. How about it?"

The Giant King's eyes gleamed as he chuckled, "Deal. I'll drag this out as long as I can. Maybe I'll just get him drunk—it'd make things a whole lot easier."

He tapped a few buttons on his wrist communicator. Feng Mo's communicator on his left arm beeped, and a small smile played on his lips as he realized he'd been invited into an ambush. The New Humanity system, however, was the least of his concerns. He'd left the Beast Roar Fleet along with a formidable complement of T6 Iron Dragons, T5 Pegasi, T5 Mystic Birds, T5 Sword Dragons, and T5 Dire Wolves stationed there—easily enough to repel a few T5 fleets.

A second message soon followed, stating that two near-T6 Giant fleets would be assisting the Beast Roar Fleet, with one squad poised nearby in ambush. The Star Giants had indeed mobilized a massive force.

Moreover, Feng Mo gained insight from the Giant King into a significant development: the Mingye Empire had secured the Star Mech Clan's support, adding to an already formidable strength, potentially on par with the Storm Empire's five war zones.

While this news stirred a sense of unease, Feng Mo found reassurance in his preparations. His Storm Empire's defenses, including the ambush-ready Gale Fleet in interstellar space near the New Humanity system, remained vigilant.

Maintaining a calm exterior, Feng Mo sent a series of encrypted messages, then turned to Xing Shuwen and said, "Shuwen, return to the Zhu Yan immediately. Be cautious."

Without a word, Xing Shuwen nodded and quickly returned to the Zhu Yan, already briefed on the next steps.

Feng Mo then approached the gathered leaders, his stride steady and expression unreadable. Both the Giant King and the Mingye Emperor bowed courteously as he exited the light beam.

"Welcome to Torrent Prime, Lord Feng Mo," the Mingye Emperor greeted him warmly. "This place offers every pleasure imaginable. Tonight, we shall drink until dawn!"

The Giant King twitched slightly at this comment, silently cursing the Mingye Emperor's brazenness; even among the Star Giants, few could match his shamelessness.

Though Feng Mo shared similar sentiments inwardly, he maintained a composed and somewhat distant demeanor, fitting for a prominent warlord and a starship design prodigy.

"It's an honor, and I thank you both for the invitation," Feng Mo replied coolly. "My passions in life are threefold—starship design, fine cuisine, and beautiful women. I hope my visit today will be memorable."

The statement was directed at the Mingye Emperor, a subtle maneuver on Feng Mo's part to probe his intentions.

Hearing Feng Mo's words, the Mingye Emperor's smile widened, though a hint of disdain flickered in his eyes. A starship design master, a ruler of a great empire, and yet, still a man led by appetites, he mused. Such a man would fall easily once he lets his guard down. This could be his chance to subdue Feng Mo, enslave his fleet, and propel the Mingye Empire toward new heights—perhaps even an eighth-tier civilization.
