Star Citizen Online: Isekai Edition

Chapter 127: Real Time Confrontation with Bugs

This would be their first real confrontation with the bugs because neither of them had fought against the Arachnids in real life. While they trained extensively against the bugs in the Holodeck on the Obscurus, with the Red Queen acting as the Hivemind for the bugs, it wasn't comparable to the real deal.

Fortunately enough, their first confrontation was really lucky because the bugs that they were going to fight against were just a few Warrior Bugs, Tiger Warrior Bugs, and some of the Scarab Scout Bugs.

That wasn't really that powerful setup.

Generally speaking, the Warrior Bugs were generally at the Delta-Grade. However, it was noted that their regeneration factor was superior to most of the Delta-Grade Professionals. At the same time, the Tiger Warrior Bugs were more powerful and weakest was, typically at the Gamma-Grade.

Meanwhile, the Scarab Scout Bugs were weaker, barely at the Epsilon-Grade, as their sole purpose was to carry out the reconnaissance. While they were relatively weak, the Scarab Scout Bugs had a peculiar set of abilities that allowed them to strike from the shadows and carry out assassinations if needed.

Even though their combat abilities were nothing special, they could be dangerous if one wasn't paying proper attention to the combat. The Scarab Scout Bugs could be pretty sneaky, and due to their small stature, they were easy to miss when fighting.

Most people tended to focus on the bigger Arachnids when they were fighting the bug horde and ignore the smaller ones.

Which was usually proving to be a fatal mistake.

One thing that was most problematic about the Arachnids was the fact that one could not look just at their Grade to assess their strength. Most of them, if not all of the Arachnids, usually had a very wide range of abilities that were installed into their genome so they could fulfill their purpose as best as possible.

Even though there were a few tens of bugs, neither of the three of them was nervous about it because the number of bugs was actually small. If there were hundreds of bugs, then the situation would be entirely different, but right now, it was a piece of cake.

With him and Jeniael as front fighters and Zehal acting as support, auxiliary, and heavy firepower due to their technology, according to the Red Queen's calculations, they should be able to handle even the horde of hundreds of bugs.

As long as there was no overwhelming number of the powerful bugs, they should be alright, and it really seemed that this Arachnid Nest wasn't as populous as it appeared at first glance.

Which was heavily playing into their cards.

"Jen-Jen and me will cover the frontal attack and Zehal will be covering us from the air and use the heavy firepower to lower their numbers or kill those who would try to espcae. Can the Psychic Disruptor be deployed?"

Arcturus, as the leader of their little merry band, asked as he looked at the Heiress Apparent of the House Alvix, who gave him a nod of confirmation. Jeniael tried not to scowl too much as he once again called her Jen-Jen, something that she didn't really like, especially when he was doing it in public.

But at the same time, she was rather happy that he was calling her such an affectionate nickname, something that she was rather glad for. However, it was not like she would admit it out of loud as that would make Arcturus only tease her even more about it.

The man could be pretty insufferable if he wanted.

"Yes, but it would take some time to prepare the machine."

Zehal said because she would need some time to make some adjustments to the Psychic Disruptor.

The Psychic Disruptor was a peculiar and interesting piece of technology that was developed to specifically counter the Psychic Links between the bugs.

Even though the Cosmic Storm covered the entire Ziras Star System, it only partially affected the Psychic Communication between the bugs already on the planet. While they couldn't communicate over long distances, they could still carry out short-distance transmissions.

That could be a rather serious problem if the bugs that they were going to kill right now warned the other bugs in the Nest that someone was hunting for them. They would then hole up in their Nest, making any possible incursion into the Arachnid Nest mission impossible.

Due to that, most of the High-Level Civilizations and High-Level Star Nations were using Psychic Disruptors to disrupt the Psychic Links between the Arachnids. In this way, the bugs won't be able to communicate with each other as the Psychic Links that they were using would be shrouded.

The usage of the Psychic Disruptors was something that was really needed to be used if one wanted to prevent the communication between the bugs. Zehal's mission in the confrontation would be to activate the Psychic Disruptors before the fight started and then subsequently protect the Psychic Disruptors as the bugs would try to destroy it for sure.

The Arachnids were not stupid because they knew the strategic value of the Psychic Disruptors, so Arcturus was sure that the bugs would start targeting the Psychic Disruptors, and Zehal's task was to protect them while at the same time providing support for Jenaiel and him while they would be taking head on the bulk of the bug's fighting force.

When Arcturus decided the strategy, Zehal went to prepare the Psychic Disruptor as the delicate machine required some finishing touches before it could be activated, while both him and Jeniael were preparing for the combat.

In the alpine regions of Ziras IV, the group of about seventy bugs was searching for suitable targets for their Biomass. Their vehicle was also armed with a miniature stealth device, which was used to hide it from the dangerous beasts living all over the planet.

And in the later years, from the Arachnids specifically, Arcturus had to admit that the stealth was rather efficient. Yes, it wasn't anything great according to the technological standards of the High-Level Star Nations and High-Level Civilizations, but it was far superior to anything that the lower-level factions could produce.

Thus, Arcturus, Zehal, and Jenaiel were able to observe the behavior of the Arachnids searching for Biomass, mostly to satisfy their curiosity about their species and to see what they were doing.

After observing the bugs for around twenty minutes, they saw how they were meticulously searching through the entire area and looking for anything that could be killed and brought back for processing.

And they indeed found something, mostly some smaller animals and some plants, but when it came to anything larger it was providing a problem for them. The Scarab Scout Bugs, due to their small size, were flying around and scanning everything.

Searching for suitable targets while transmitting back orders to one particular bug in the group. It looked exactly like the Tiger Warrior Bug, but it was twice as big; it was around 7 meters in height and 15 meters in length, with a darker orange carapace and several big antennas on its head.

"Commander Warrior Bug."

Arcuturs stated that when he noticed the Commander Warrior Bug that was hidden among the other bugs, something that the Red Queen overlooked, he knew the reason. These types of bugs had a specific ability of camouflage, and they could basically blend in with the other bugs.

As the bugs were often moving in denser swarms, it was sometimes very hard to properly recognize them using purely technological means. These bugs were rather powerful because even the weakest of them was comparable to Gamma-Grade Warrior, not to mention their Psionic Potential.

Every single one of them was potent, and though their Psionic Energy Grades varied greatly, they were still dangerous in any direct confrontation. They also had powerful distance capabilities that, when combined with their close-range capabilities, gave birth to dangerous Arachnids.

The presence of the Commander Warrior Bug complicated things a bit.

But just a bit.

It wasn't anything that they couldn't handle if they joined their forces and with Zehal's support.

Due to Jenaiel's Super-High Risk Psyker Ability, The Holy Judgement of God, there was no real fear of the Psionics, and they had the Psychic Disruptor on their side. While the great disarrange of the Psychic Disruptors was that they were rather indiscriminate in their targeting, meaning even the three of them would be affected.

This meant that even though the bugs would lose their Psychic Links, Jenaiel, Zehal, and Arcturus would also lose their ability to communicate with each other through the Psychic Links that they had established.

But forutanly for them, this was easily fixed through the technology, so there was no great loss on their side actually.

"Are we adjusting our strategy or going with the original plan now that they have the Commander Warrior Bug?"

Zehal asked because, in their trio, she was the secondary commander. Jenaiel understood her role as a fighter and warrior, and she never voiced her complaints against it, while Zehal, on the other hand, understood that she was to help devise strategies together with with Arcturus.

Asuryani were the pragmatic bunch that strictly stratified society and had roles for every single individual that best suited their skills and abilities.

"No. We proceeded as planned, but we will try to capture the Commander Warrior Bug alive and perform Memory Extraction on the creature if possible. Through this way, we would be able to learn something that is actually useful about the bugs and their overall situation on the Ziras IV."

Arcturus actually planned to capture the Commander Warrior Bug so they could use the Psionic Skill to extract memories of the bug. He fully knew that it was an impossible task to extract the full memories of the bug.

For a good reason actually.

All of the bugs were interconnected in their Psychic Network that was being centered around the Hivemind and tons of Control Bugs, Brain Bugs, Super Brain Bugs, Queen Bugs and Empress Bugs and Emperor Bugs.

It was impossible to enter it.

But...

Due to the Cosmic Storm that cast a shroud over the Ziras IV, this connection was broken, and their minds were not protected that well. If they added to the mix the Psychic Disruptor, which weakened the Psychic Protections around the mids even further, Arcturus had a solid chance at extracting some tidbits of the information from the minds of the Commander Warrior Bug.

Even though it won't be a lot, it should still be enough for them to see the real situation of the Arachnid Nest on the Ziras IV and their actual numbers. He knew that anything in their situation would be of real help, and they were certainly going for it.

"We are going on. Zehal activates the Psychic Disruptor."

Arcturus redied the Aetheries as he drew the sword out of its metallic sheath, while Jenaiel mimicked the action while Zehal activated the Psychic Disruptor as they observed how the small black bock released some mechanical sounds and lit up in crimson color.

When the Psychic Disruptor was active, all three of them felt that their Psychic Liunk was broken, as all of them performed the lack checks on their equipment and looked at the holoprojection of the situation outside and saw that the bugs were already panicking from the loss of the Psychic Link.

In fact, some of the Warrior Bugs looked rather disoriented due to the sudden forceful break of the Psychic Link as all of them went into action. Zehal immediately activated her own Super-High Risk Psyker Ability Deus Technicus as billions of nanites swarmed around her in a sense swarm and condensed into the wings as she flew high into the air.

In there, she released tens of energy beams from the cannons that she created through the nanites that were controlled by the Deus Technicus and obliterated around fifteen of the Arahncids that were still disoriented and lowered their number to something around fifty.

Arcturus and Jenaiel already rushed towards the bugs that were recovering from the ambush in perfect coordination that they had trained during their training on the Holodeck's simulations on the Obscurus and targeted specifically the Tiger Warrior Bugs.

They were the strongest and needed to go down as the last one.

The Tiger Warrior Bugs had a much shorter reaction time, and they were of higher Greeade than that of the ordinary Warrior Bugs and; thus they were able to react much faster as they indeed did when they noticed two humans coming for them.

The bugs immediately recognized the threat of the Asuryani and rushed to meet the Arcturus and Jenaiel as they attempted to attack them with their blade legs, but that was instantly rendered useless when both of them, at the same time, jumped into the air, landing on the hands of the Tiger Warrior Bugs and piercing their heads with their swords.

Immediately killing two Warrior Tiger Bugs.

As the two of the bugs were down, Arcurus used his own Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability Dimenison Empyrean to condense the Empyrean Power and shaped it into the balls that shot towards several of the surrounding bugs.

Obliterating them into nothingness in the mere moment because they were too weak to resist the overbearing and destructive Empyrean Power without any Psionic Energy in use.

Zehal, who was hovering in the air, noticed that the Scarab Scout Bugs were heading towards her, but with a wave of her hand, she separated countless nanites that were sent towards the incoming Scarab Scout Bugs like a tsunami wave that literarily tore them apart.

The nanites were extremely powerful and highly problematic to deal with without the usage of overwhelming destructive power. And because Zehal was using the Deus Technicus, she was strengthening them with her Psionic Energy, which was making them even more powerful than they already were.

With the Scarab Scout Bugs being destroyed by Zehal, there was actually no air support for the bugs that were being massacred on the ground by Jenaiel and Arcturus, who, due to their chemistry, were methodically killing one bug after another while at the same time fending off the attacks from the Commander Warrior Bug.

They were careful not to attack the Commander Warrior Bug too much because that could actually kill the Arachnid.

Something that would be detrimental to them in their position.
