Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Hunting the Ten-Thousand-Year Earthfire Dragon (2)

The attack unleashed by You Chen's Starlight Avatar was none other than "Dragon Roar of the Wind."

Even when performed by the Avatar, whose spirit power was weaker than the main body, the technique's intricacy and power still qualified it as a high-tier millennial soul skill.

Most importantly—it was incredibly fast!

From the moment the Earthfire Dragon sensed danger to the instant the air column was released, mere fractions of a second had elapsed.

Even with reaction speed comparable to a lower-tier Soul Sage, the Earthfire Dragon barely managed to respond and couldn't completely avoid the attack.

Boom!

The air column struck the dragon's colossal body directly. Countless compressed air blades slashed across its surface, carving into its formidable physique.

Dragon Roar of the Wind was a deceptively dangerous skill. While it seemed to focus on penetration, its sharpness was its true hallmark. Upon impact, it mimicked the effect of countless invisible blades hacking in unison.

The result: the Earthfire Dragon's massive scales fell like loosened boulders, scattering to the ground.

Blood sprayed forth in what would be a fatal amount for most creatures.

However, for the Earthfire Dragon, with its mountainous size, the injuries were akin to a minor cut on human skin.

But the pain was undeniable.

Golden eyes turned crimson with rage, and a blast of compressed dragonfire erupted from its maw.

Obstacles like foliage, combined with the Starlight Avatar's agility—a Soul King's equivalent—made it easy for the Avatar to evade. The fiery explosion, however, ignited a portion of the forest.

The Avatar chose not to press its attack.

The full-force Dragon Roar of the Wind had depleted a third of its energy reserves, reducing its overall strength. Even with You Chen nearby to remotely replenish its soul power, recovery would take time.

Without hesitation, the Avatar turned and fled.

The furious Earthfire Dragon gave chase, its massive frame barreling through trees, reducing the forest to a wasteland.

This pursuit led the dragon straight into a carefully laid trap.

With the main body and the Avatar sharing synchronized awareness, You Chen knew precisely when the Soul-Battle Beasts had completed their preparations.

As soon as everything was ready, the Avatar stopped weaving and directly lured the Earthfire Dragon into the ambush site.

As the dragon charged forward, the ground beneath it gave way.

What appeared to be grassland had been transformed into a small swamp by the Soul-Battle Beasts in a matter of hours.

Caught off guard, the Earthfire Dragon sank into the muck.

At that moment, more than twenty Soul-Battle Beasts emerged from hiding. Each pulled out a pre-loaded Blackfire Crossbow from their storage soul tools and unleashed a coordinated volley!

The Earthfire Dragon, unable to recognize the strange mechanical devices wielded by its attackers, was overwhelmed by an instinctive sense of mortal danger.

Dark-red scales flared open, revealing glowing crimson patterns. Waves of fiery soul power surged from within, enveloping the dragon in a defensive aura.

With a mighty slam of its tail against the swampy ground, the dragon propelled itself upward, leaping like a massive rabbit.

Even so, over a third of the bolts struck true, embedding themselves deep into its body.

"ROAR!!!"

Each Blackfire Crossbow volleyed sixteen bolts, meaning over 150 high-velocity projectiles pierced the dragon's frame.

Blood poured like torrential rain, staining the swamp in crimson.

The Earthfire Dragon's anguished roar echoed across the forest as bolts riddled its chest, hind legs, tail, and back.

Each bolt tore through scales, muscles, and even bones. This single coordinated strike had effectively halved the dragon's combat effectiveness.

To deal with a creature of this magnitude, the Soul-Battle Beasts had specially modified the original Zhuge Crossbow's design to accommodate larger, more destructive projectiles.

The results were self-evident.

Enraged, the Earthfire Dragon maintained its Burning Mode, wildly swinging its tail in an attempt to crush the insolent creatures surrounding it.

But the Soul-Battle Beasts were well-organized. After the initial volley, they retreated in an orderly fashion, widening the distance between themselves and the dragon.

Simultaneously, the defense and control teams acted.

Control-type soul masters suppressed the dragon's power, while defense-types absorbed and deflected the weakened shockwaves from its tail swings.

Among them, one figure stood out: Kui, the sole tool spirit master among the Soul-Battle Beasts.

Kui's martial spirit, Soul-Siphoning Wood, was a high-grade plant-type spirit.

As a child, Kui's martial spirit had gone berserk, prompting the Star Luo Empire to label him a fallen soul master. Forced to flee into the Star Dou Forest, he was eventually saved by You Chen and joined the Soul-Battle Beasts.

Most members of the organization shared a common trait: they were beast spirit masters with debilitating mutations that initially rendered cultivation impossible. Kui was an exception.

Since Kui was a fugitive, You Chen couldn't afford to keep him close at all times. Placing him within the Soul-Battle Beasts for training and loyalty-building was a natural solution.

Despite his differences, creating a separate organization for Kui was impractical, so he became part of the Soul-Battle Beasts.

Even within this marginalized group, Kui faced discrimination due to his unique circumstances.

However, his hardworking and stoic nature, coupled with the organization's emphasis on discipline, eventually earned him the respect of his peers. Kui became one of the three most respected upper-tier Beast Soldiers.

The strongest was, of course, Ignis, with her top-tier dragon martial spirit.

The third was Amona, a female soul master with the high-grade White Tiger Martial Spirit.

Unlike Kui, who was quiet and diligent, Amona was outspoken and impulsive, viewing Ignis as her rival. This rivalry fostered healthy competition, which You Chen encouraged.

The two were often referred to as "Dragon and Tiger" by their peers, a nickname born from their frequent clashes.

Naturally, all three were present for this critical operation.

"Take this!"

As Kui coordinated the control team to restrain the dragon, a white blur shot forward with a battle cry.

Amona, her fist shrouded in the pha
