Chapter 26: Chapter 25: D-Rank Gate

I want to make some things clear, the power system Adam has talked with Awà, it's just an idea, and ideas can change, so until you don't see it in an official chapter, it will remain an idea.

Because as i write i change ideas or remain with them.

As Adam slid his newly issued license into his wallet, he turned to Marie. "What gates are nearby?"

Marie raised an eyebrow and pulled out her phone. "You don't waste any time, huh? Here." She tapped her screen a few times before showing him an app. "Download this. It's the Hunter Gate Network app. You'll find everything you need there, gate locations, squad listings, equipment shops, and more."

Adam nodded and downloaded the app, he already knew it but to not give suspicion he asked since civilians aren't supposed to know it.

Within seconds, a sleek interface loaded on his phone. He scrolled through the nearby gates section, his eyes narrowing as he searched for something suitable. After a minute, he spotted a promising portal: a D-Rank gate located in Spinetta.

A chat was already forming for the gate, with a squad looking for three more members to fill their roster of ten.

'Perfect.' Adam thought, selecting the gate and registering his interest in joining the squad. He wasted no time heading toward the building's exit.

Marie followed, raising an eyebrow. "You found one already?"

"A D-Rank in Spinetta." Adam replied without looking up, his eyes still scanning the app.

Marie smirked. "You're really diving in headfirst, aren't you? Well, I've got something to take care of, so I'm not tagging along."

Adam nodded without much thought. "Do what you need to."

She shook her head as she watched him walk away, scrolling through the app like a man on a mission. "Rookie's got some guts." she muttered before turning to leave.

....

Outside, Adam glanced at the app's map, noting the gate's location in Spinetta. The description said the gate was stable, and the squad forming seemed balanced with a mix of fighters, rangers, and a healer. He had two hours to get there.

'If I take the bus, it's forty minutes.' Adam thought, his brow furrowing slightly. 'I need a car.'

As he made his way to the bus stop, he continued exploring the app, landing on the shop section. His eyes scanned the listings, his expression growing increasingly unimpressed.

'E-Rank sword for a thousand euros?' he thought, his lips twitching. 'This is robbery.'

He scrolled further, seeing similarly overpriced weapons and armor from companies, private sellers, and even the Hunter Association itself. Everything was marked up to absurd levels, with even basic D-Rank equipment costing several thousand euros.

But as ridiculous as the prices were, a creepy smile spread across Adam's face. 'This market is wide open for someone like me. With my printer and tech, I could make a killing here.'

He could already imagine the possibilities: high-quality gear at reasonable prices, custom orders for specialized items, and innovations no one else could replicate. The thought of dominating the market filled him with quiet excitement.

The bus pulled up, and Adam boarded, taking a seat near the back. As the city rolled by outside the window, his mind raced with ideas for both his upcoming gate run and the future of his business.

....

Adam stepped off the bus, the cool breeze brushing against his face as he glanced around the familiar streets of hia neighborhood. The bus stop wasn't far from his apartment, and he walked briskly, his mind already racing with preparations for the gate run.

Once he reached his apartment, he unlocked the door and stepped inside. The faint hum of the printer greeted him, a sound he'd grown used to over the past few days.

He headed straight for the printer, grabbed an old, worn-out bag from the corner of the room, and tossed it into the machine. 'Awà, make me a durable hunting bag. It needs compartments for the spear, mana bombs, and room for loot. Keep it lightweight but sturdy.'

[Understood, Host.] Awà replied, her tone efficient. [Beginning reconstruction. Estimated completion: seven minutes.]

Adam turned his attention to the remaining metals and mana cubes neatly organized on the printer compartment. 'Awà, use these to forge a pair of twin daggers. Balanced for close combat, lightweight, and with enough mana conductivity to handle basic enhancements.'

[Processing the design. Daggers will be completed alongside the hunting bag.]

With the printer whirring to life, Adam moved around the living room and grabbed the spear leaning against the wall. He spun it lightly in his hands, feeling the perfect weight and balance. It was a masterpiece of functionality, just as he'd intended.

Satisfied, he placed the spear on the table and began gathering the mana bombs he had stored in a reinforced case. Each bomb hummed faintly with contained energy, a testament to their precision and lethality.

'This run will be straightforward.' Adam thought, mentally reviewing his plans. 'But I'll need to stay cautious. It's my first official gate as a licensed hunter, and I can't afford unnecessary risks.'

The printer dinged softly, signaling its completion. Adam walked over to find the freshly made hunting bag resting in the output tray. It was sleek, with reinforced straps and compartments tailored to his specifications. A hidden sheath for the spear ran along the side, while smaller sections were designed to securely hold the bombs and other tools.

He picked it up, inspecting the craftsmanship before nodding in approval. "Perfect."

The twin daggers emerged next, their sleek blades glinting faintly under the room's light. Each one was lightweight yet sturdy, the handles wrapped in a non-slip material for a firm grip.

Adam tested their balance, spinning them expertly in his hands before sliding them into the custom sheaths built into the hunting bag. Everything fit perfectly, the bag resting comfortably on his shoulders when he tried it on.

'This will do nicely.' he thought, his excitement growing as he made his final preparations. The gate awaited, and Adam was ready to take It's resources.

....

Adam leaned back in his seat on the bus, the gentle hum of the vehicle a faint backdrop to his thoughts. As the city blurred past the window, he opened his hand, and with a focused thought, the transparent cube manifested in his palm.

The cube rotated slowly, its edges glowing faintly with neon-blue outlines. He moved it around experimentally, letting it hover just above his hand, before allowing it to float freely in front of him.

'Awà, what can you tell me about this?'

[The cube is an extension of you, Host.] Awà's voice echoed in his mind. [It is linked to your soul, body, and mind. Its capabilities will evolve as you grow stronger. Though further testing is required to determine its full potential.]

Adam hummed thoughtfully, his eyes locked on the floating cube. With a flicker of intent, he changed its color. The translucent surface turned gray, then shifted to blue, and finally took on a texture that resembled human tissue. The control was seamless, intuitive, like moving his own limbs.

'Interesting.' Adam thought as he reverted the cube back to its original transparent state. He glanced around the bus. The passengers were absorbed in their own worlds, oblivious to the cube hovering in front of him.

With another thought, he made the cube invisible. It vanished entirely from sight, though Adam could still feel its presence. He directed it to move through the crowded bus, weaving between passengers and brushing past them without drawing any attention.

'They don't notice a thing.' Adam noted, his lips curling into a faint smirk.

Testing another idea, Adam unsheathed one of the daggers he'd recently forged. The blade gleamed faintly in the dull light of the bus as he carefully inserted it into the cube.

To his satisfaction, the dagger was absorbed instantly, its size shrinking as it floated within the cube's translucent interior. The edges of the weapon gleamed softly, suspended as though it were weightless.

'Haha, this is broken.' Adam thought, a quiet chuckle escaping him.

He repeated the process with the mana bombs, watching as each one was absorbed into the cube and reduced in size. Inside, they floated alongside the dagger, their faint hums blending together in an almost soothing rhythm.

Satisfied, Adam stopped and left the hunting bag untouched. 'The bag stays outside.' he thought. 'Gotta keep up appearances.'

With a simple thought, the cube disappeared entirely, leaving no trace of its existence while Adam relaxed in his seat.
