Chapter 704: 703: The Traitor, Rage & Death (1)
'Am I... dying?'
'What- What the hell happened?'
'I can only see blood.'
------
From the moment he heard the subtle sound of the wind being split apart, and Dave's scream of horror, what happened next was so fast for even Corey to process and understand.
Before he could react, countless and an unfathomable number of bullets rained down on him and every other member of The Breakers.
The walls which they were so proud of because of the materials that were used in its creation and the formations and arrays that were etched on it were like thin butter before the bullets.
Despite his numerous Stars of Consciousness, talent of Omniscience, and Cosmic Soul, he was not able to react quickly to the rain of bullets on him.
His eyes instantly turned pure white and was unleashed to its current maximum output. His ears bled as their output was also unleashed to the maximum.
His celestial mana veins were pushed to the limit as his mana moved through his extremely complex mana pathways in order to unleash several skills.
His body was already moving into a defensive position, and all of this occurred in 0.1 second.
In that fraction of a second, he could see the countless bullets that had torn down the walls and were flying towards him and his group members.
One odd thing he noticed was that the number of bullets that were in his trajectory were the highest, and the number of bullets in Divine's path was the second highest.
This made Corey to realize that although all of them were being targeted, him and Divine were treated as high priority targets.
Corey saw all of this in what could be described as slow motion but was not.
He knew that despite being able to react this fast, the injuries he would sustain would be severe. However, if he did everything according to his plans, he would survive.
As for his teammates, he had no idea.
He could not help them in anyway, so he could only hope that they found a way to survive.
0.4 seconds later, Corey had observed everything and a plan appeared in his head. He was about to make a move, but then something he never expected and planned for, happened.
The mana in the surroundings suddenly vanished.
Corey's eyes widened in shock, disbelief, and horror. His eyes glowed brightly and at that instant, they exploded.
Blood poured out of his nose and he coughed out a mouthful of blood.
'NO!'
This was the only thought Corey could make before the inevitable happened. He was not able to make any contingencies due to how sudden and unexpected it was.
His body was a wreck, he was blind, he was in pain, and he was about to lose consciousness.
Everything had gone wrong, and he did the only thing that was ingrained in the mind of any mortal fighter.
At a speed that almost dislocated his shoulder and neck, he placed his arm in front of his face to protect his head before he fell unconscious.
He knew that this could not protect because bullets were flying at him from every angle, and there was no way he could protect his entire head with how fast everything was occuring.
There were several other factors to consider, however, he could only hope, hope that he did not die.
0.9 seconds after Dave shouted, the bullets flew all around the room, tearing holes in the walls, flesh, and bones of The Breakers with extreme coldness and indifference.
The screams of pain, horror, and shock from The Breakers was drowned by the sounds of the bullets piercing through the walls and the walls crumbling apart.
This continued for approximately one minute, and by the time a minute was up, this part of the Neon Headquarters had become completely unrecognizable.
In this minute, one of his Corey's eyes was slowly healing, however, it was not fully healed yet.
Corey tried to move but he could not. The only thing he could do was open his left eye, however, his vision was still blurry and what he was seeing was filled with blood.
'Am I... dying?'
'What- What the hell happened?'
'I can only see blood.'
He could feel himself struggling to breathe, and he knew, he just knew that he was on the verge of death.
His body was completely riddled with holes. His torso, arms, legs, hands, foot, neck, ears, mouth, and even his head.
The only part of his body that was still in one piece was his dark grey heart, however, even that was struggling to remain alive.
He tried to think but his mind was all muddled up. Although a bullet had pierced his head, it had not been able to go through his head but was stuck there.
Step
Crunch
Step
Crunch
Ths sound of footsteps drifted into Corey's ears, and he struggled with all his might to see who it was.
He knew he could die any moment from now. He was extremely defenseless in this state, and even somebody like Kiefer could kill him with a regular knife.
However, despite knowing this, he wanted to know, he needed to know who it was that had attacked them or who it was that was going to kill him, or if the person that was walking towards him was not an enemy but an ally.
With his willpower and high resistance to pain, he was able to turn towards the sound of the footsteps. However, when he did, a part of him wished he had remained in his previous position.
He saw the lifeless head of Fatty Black Bonez beside him, and Corey froze as the image of Fatty Black Bonez's current appearance was etched in his mind.
He could see the horror, shock, and defiance that remained in Fatty Black Bonez's remaining right eye. His head had three bullet holes which continuously spewed out red blood that had a tinge of gold to it.
Despite his muddled mind and dying body, Corey knew, he knew that his teammate, Fatty Black Bonez had died.
