Chapter 574: 573: Mirstone Suite
In the late hours of the city known as Azgul Fortress, the lanterns lining the bridges and staircases lit up, casting a golden light that reflected off the flowing rivers and the towering Obsidian Pillar. The entire city seemed to shimmer in the dark, like a jewel set against the black cliffs.
On the sparse fifteenth floor of the Azgul Fortress and standing in front of one of the most beautiful structures of the fifteenth floor were Corey, Divine, and Melissa.
"Although I knew that the place would not be normal and would most likely be a place for the rich, isn't the Prince trying to flaunt his wealth in our faces by inviting us to this place?"
Divine had a strange expression along with twitching lips as he spoke. He observed the building in front of him once more and he could not help but smack his lips in annoyance.
He looked at Corey, and with a frustrated expression and sigh, he attempted to convince Corey otherwise.
"Hey kid, I want to ask you a question."
Corey raised his brows, "What?"
"When we first entered the inn, I sensed killing intent and it was directed at you."
Corey raised his brows in slight surprise and Melissa stared at Corey with a tinge of surprise and curiousity in her eyes.
"Yeah, I sensed it too. I thought I was the only one that sensed it because of how quickly and hidden it was." Corey replied after remaining silent for some seconds, and Divine scoffed softly.
"You're not the only one with extremely sharp senses, kid. Although I have to admit, the person was extremely subtle and fast in withdrawing his or her killing intent… It might be an assassin."
Corey nodded, but he kept on looking at Divine with raised brows, "So, what are you trying to get at or say?"
Divine pointed at the building in front of them, "I'm saying what if this is all a trap and the person that emitted that killing intent towards you was the messenger, Brandon?"
"He had to have been on the first floor of the inn to know where exactly your room was, or somebody told him where exactly your room was. This could all be a trap, and we should turn back at once before it's too late."
Corey raised his brows the more as he looked at Divine, and then his lips curled upwards as he chuckled softly.
"Are you that afraid of the Prince of the Scorching Sun Kingdom?"
Divine's right eye twitched and a vein popped in his forehead when he heard the mockery in Corey's tone.
"Yes, wait, no damn it! My instincts are telling me that something dangerous is going to happen if we meet Prince Zeran, and my instincts are rarely wrong!"
Corey rolled his eyes, and he took a step towards the Mirstone Suite in front of him.
"And my instincts are telling me that there's an opportunity to be taken advantage of if we meet with the Prince." Corey said as he walked past Divine. After taking three steps, the paused and spoke once again.
"Also, the messenger was not the one that emitted the killing intent at me. If he was the one, I'd have noticed."
Divine's expression changed multiple times before he released a frustrated sigh. He looked at the beautiful work of art a few meters in front of him, and then he mumbled softly while taking a step toward the building.
"If I wasn't trapped in that damn Labyrinth, I'd be as rich as I am in the Underworld."
The moment Divine said these words, Corey's voice flowed into his ears.
"You're no longer rich… You're broke."
Divine paused, and his lips twitched before morphing into a pained smile.
"Have I ever told you that I hate you, Smile Reaper?" Divine asked while turning to face Corey, and Corey replied as he got closer to the building.
"You have… A lot of times."
Divine took in a deep breath, and he kept on reciting a mantra in his head to stop himself from beating Corey black and blue. Experience new tales on My Virtual Library Empire
Melissa walked past him with a slight chuckle, and the moment Divine heard Melissa's chuckle, a vein popped in Divine's head.
'It's not worth it, Divine. It's not worth it… Amitabha. Amitabha Divine.'
Divine chanted multiple times with a strained smile as he followed behind Corey and Melissa into the Mirstone Suite before them.
The Mirstone Suite
Unlike the rugged stone buildings surrounding it, the Mirstone Suite had polished blackstone walls that gleamed faintly under the ever-present glow of the fortress's lanterns.
Its foundation was merged seamlessly with the rocky terrain, giving the impression that it had been carved directly from the cliffside. The entrance was framed by a large double door made of reinforced Xyrenium, and it's surface was engraved with elegant, glowing runes. Above the door, the name "Mirstone Suite" was etched into a plaque of shimmering aquamarine, which glowed faintly in the dim light.
The building was three stories high, and each level was distinct yet connected in a way that made the structure appear harmonious.
The first floor featured wide, arched windows framed with crystal-clear glass which offered a glimpse of the lavish interior within. Lanterns were hung on either side of the entrance, their soft blue light illuminated the pathway leading up to the suite.
The second floor was extended outward slightly, and it was supported by intricately carved pillars shaped like vines and flowing streams. A wraparound balcony circled the entire level, offering breathtaking views of the fifteenth floor and the distant cascading waterfalls.
At the top, the third floor was crowned with a stunning domed roof. The dome was made of translucent crystalline tiles that shimmered with a faint blue light. During the day, the dome allowed sunlight to filter through, casting gentle, dancing patterns inside. At night, it glowed faintly, reflecting the lantern light from the streets below.
Surrounding the building was a narrow garden filled with plants and flowers unique to Azgul Fortress. Glowing blue and silver petals filled the greenery, and a small fountain carved from blackstone sat at the garden's center, and it's water sparkler as it flowed continuously.
After Corey, Melissa, and Divine entered the first floor, Corey met with the male receptionist and at first, he was given a disdainful glare due to his normal dressing and him being a Tier 2, after showing the invitation card which was given to him by the messenger, Brandon, the male receptionist became respectful.
He was asked to wait behind along with Divine and Melissa, and after waiting for some minutes, Brandon appeared and
guided them to the room of Prince Zeran.
