Chapter 1276: Let’s start a coup

A week later, we were heading back to the Kite Kingdom.

The war with the demons was finally over since the peace agreement had been signed between the four empires, the demon queen Elizabeth, and the representatives of the other races.

With everyone coming to an agreement like this, it could be said that the continent had reached an era of peace.

It was just that everyone knew that this peace was temporary.

After all, the mastermind behind all of this was still hiding somewhere out there.

Unless that mastermind was taken care of, there would never be true peace.

Only there wasn't a single person that knew how to find this mastermind.

Even the demon race that had been connected to this mastermind didn't know anything about finding them. So what were the other races that were just finding out about this mastermind supposed to do?

The only thing that they could do right now was return to their own territories and strengthen themselves for what was about to come.

But even though peace had come to the continent, that was only general peace.

It didn't mean that everything was going to be peaceful.

That was because as long as people existed, there would be conflict between different parties that had opposing interests.

I was about to become one of those people.

That was because there was something that we had to take care of now that the war with the demons was over.

It was time to take care of someone who offended us and wanted to cause trouble for us. So before they could cause trouble for us, we were going to cause trouble for them.

After arriving back at the Kite Kingdom's capital, there was no time to catch up as I was brought right to the castle.

Sitting there in the study waiting for me were the prime minister and the chancellor.

The way that they sat there was as if they had been waiting for a while now.

When I came in, they didn't even say anything as they waved for me to sit down.

When I sat down, that was when they finally spoke.

"You're finally back. That means that we can finally start planning."

With a bitter smile, I said, "It isn't as if you needed to wait for me to start planning." Then after a pause, I added, "Also, I'm sure that you've already come up with a plan, so there's no need to play like that. You can just tell me what plans you have."

The two of them didn't say anything when they heard this, but they did look at me with sly smiles. That was enough to confirm what I just said.

But of course, I was already used to this.

I knew that the two of them had already been plotting things from behind the scenes. That was the whole reason why those small and medium sized kingdoms had proposed to become our vassals.

After a moment of silence, the prime minister took out a map that he spread out across the table.

This map wasn't one of our own kingdom, it also wasn't a map of the entire continent. This was a map of the Poppin Kingdom.

There were already some marks that had been placed on this map, though I didn't actually know what these marks represented since I had no idea what their plans were.

After he spread this map open, he pointed at a few dots before saying, "These are where the rebels that we've got under our belts are hiding. They will make a move as soon as we give them the signal."

Then sliding his finger, he said, "As for this place, this is where our..."

The prime minister continued to explain the rest of the plan that he and the chancellor came up with.

Hearing it, I couldn't help slightly knitting my brows.

When he was done, he asked, "Well, what do you think about it?"

I didn't say anything right away because I was still looking at the map in front of me with these slightly knitted brows.

After a long silence, I finally asked, "What about the people of the Poppin Kingdom? You know what this plan will do to them."

The prime minister gave a slow nod before saying, "This is a risk that is necessary. You and I both know that they will be far better off under our rule than the rule of that tyrant."

I just looked at him with a strange look, but I eventually nodded in agreement. However, there was something else that the prime minister said that surprised me.

"Not to mention, they aren't the people of our Kite Kingdom yet, so we're not obligated to take care of them. Once they become citizens of the new Poppin Kingdom, the vassal of the Kite Kingdom, I naturally will do all that I can to take care of them. But before that..."

His voice trailed off at the end, but there was no mistaking what he was implying with this.

I couldn't help feeling that the prime minister was a bit terrifying when he said this. Then after thinking about it, I realized that he was always this terrifying.

He was someone that was willing to sacrifice himself just to rebuild the kingdom, so this kind of thing should be easy for him.

It seemed that the chancellor was the same.

That just made me glad that they were on my side, rather than being my enemy.

At the same time, I felt sorry for the king of the Poppin Kingdom for having these two as an

enemy.

With a nod, I said, "Alright, I understand."

The prime minister gave a nod in response too before pointing at the map and saying, "There's still a few things that we still need to plan out, so your majesty can help with this."

I turned back to the map and then with a serious look, I said, "Let's start a coup."
