She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 841: Goodbyes - I

Damien looked out of the carriage window and heaved a sigh when the castle came into view. Although he got the chance to bond with Kenneth during this travel, he felt as though it was still not enough now that Kenneth's stop was getting closer and closer.

"Is it okay if I drop by your castle unannounced every once in a while?" he asked while his eyes were fixated on the lonely castle, almost as if he was imprinting every corner of the castle in his memory.

Kenneth pulled up the corners of his lips and answered, "It's okay as long as you don't scare the guards. Or my father. Remember what happened the last time you scared my father?"

"Yes, I remember." Damien laughed heartily. Now that he thought back to that time, it seemed funny how a small misunderstanding almost turned into something big. "Thanks, I will come see you every now and then."

Kenneth nodded in agreement. "I would like that."

Damien looked back inside the carriage. Zach was being all jumpy until an hour ago or so. But now, he was sound asleep by Kenneth's side after expending all his energy. "Shouldn't we wake him up?"

"No, let him be. He looks tired." Kenneth was starting to get emotional and he didn't want Zach to wake up and start teasing him relentlessly.

"It's almost time to say goodbye, huh." He folded his arms in front of his chest as if to hide the invisible hollow in his chest. "I wish I could spend some more time with you all, but…"

Damien gave a sad smile and looked down. "If only Michael hadn't lost his mind…"

"We would still be enjoying our trip in Romania." Kenneth heaved a sigh and tried to stay positive. "I'm alright with whatever little time I got to spend with you all though."

He leaned his head on the windowpane and said while recalling a few things, "In the past, I always thought that I would never truly fit in anywhere in this world. I always had to hide my true self so that I wouldn't scare anyone. However, with you all, I don't have to pretend or hide. I can truly be me. I can happily say that I feel a sense of belongingness with you all.

For that, I will forever be grateful."

Damien leaned forward and gently patted Kenneth's knee, and with a warm smile, he said, "I'm pretty sure I speak on everyone's behalf when I say that you will always hold a special place in our hearts. So, don't be a stranger. Come visit us whenever you miss us. I will do the same."

Kenneth nodded with a wide smile on his face.

After a moment of silence, he reminded Damien, "And brother, don't forget what I taught you about your vampire side. Intake a vile of human blood every day so that you will build up your tolerance. Also, never overdose on blood. You will lose sight of your true self and turn into an unrecognizable monster if you let the bloodlust dig its claws into you."

Damien flinched mentally upon hearing the last bit of Kenneth's suggestion. "Yeah, I will be mindful about that," he mumbled with resolution.

"We're almost there," Kenneth announced when the carriage headed towards the gates of his castle. He looked to his side and gently poked Zach's shoulder. "Zach, it's time for us to say goodbye. Wake up."

Zach inhaled sharply and shot his eyes open in an instant. "What? We've arrived already? I only closed my eyes for about two seconds."

He hurriedly looked outside his side of the window in disbelief. However, when he saw the towering castle, he instantly expressed his displeasure. "Why didn't you two wake me up sooner? I still had so many things to say to Kenneth." He looked at Damien and pouted for letting him sleep for so long.

Kenneth let out a short laugh. "Don't be mad at him, Zach. He tried to wake you but you seemed tired. Besides, this isn't the last time we are meeting each other. We can talk to our heart's content when I visit Wyverndale the next time."

"When will you visit again?" Zach asked without wasting a second.

Kenneth hummed for a moment and replied, "Probably in a few months."

Zach let out a sigh and said while rubbing his eyes, "Okay. Bring chocolates for me when you visit us."

"Sure." Kenneth couldn't help but playfully ruffle Zach's already messed-up hair. "Anything else?"

"No, chocolates will do," Zach replied while fixing his hair.

The carriages came to a halt soon. The boys got out of the carriage to find that they were the first ones to get off.

"Alright. So, this is where we say goodbye for now, yeah?" Damien gave a sad smile to Kenneth and held out his hand for a handshake.

Kenneth firmly held Damien's hand and nodded, "I guess it is."

Instead of leaving Damien's hand, he pulled Damien into a hug and said while patting Damien's back, "I didn't say this before, but I'm extremely happy that you decided to show up, Damien. I found my long-lost mother and my brother. Now, I have two more people whom I can call family."

Damien pulled away from the hug and looked at his brother while firmly grabbing his shoulders. "I'm also glad that I got to meet you, brother. I'm sure my mother would love to meet you too, but… she can't come here freely. I'll tell her about you though."

"Well, in that case, send her my regards."

While they were busy, Ramon wrapped Grace into a tight embrace as if this was the last time he was seeing her. It was too difficult for him to let go of her. Grace, on the other hand, was a little embarrassed, especially when she felt the piercing gaze of her uncle from the side.

She quickly pulled away from the hug and shyly lowered her head. "Ramon, my uncle is watching," she whispered.

Ramon quickly composed himself and took her hand. He kissed her knuckles and whispered back, "I will write to you soon. You do the same."
