Chapter 9: Reviewal
From the moment Ajax received his magic, he had been determined to manifest and master it. With Lucius's guidance, he made steady progress, despite many failed attempts—including one particularly painful incident where he accidentally knocked out his own teeth using earth magic. Still, his perseverance paid off. He showed signs of all three elemental affinities and even tested his ultimate skill, Creation, managing to construct a small castle and an army of mud soldiers without relying on his earth magic. However, his Copy skill remained inaccessible, as his young body was not yet mature enough to handle it.
Two weeks after his second birthday, Ajax finally displayed his water magic in front of his parents. His father, Alex, was ecstatic—not only had Ajax inherited his striking white hair, but he also possessed the same water affinity that ran through their bloodline. Overflowing with pride, Alex took it upon himself to train his son in both magic and swordsmanship. Wanting to equip Ajax properly, he gifted him a sword, though he underestimated its size, choosing one slightly too large for his small frame. Even so, Ajax wielded it with surprising ease.
While Alex believed his son had just begun to show magical promise, Ajax and Lucius knew better. In truth, Ajax had already demonstrated signs of all three elements granted to him by God: water, earth, and fire. But Lucius had advised him to reveal water magic first, knowing it would ignite his father's enthusiasm. He also predicted that Alex would focus more on Ajax's swordsmanship if he believed they shared the same magical affinity. And as always, Lucius was right.
What started as playful sparring sessions between father and son soon turned into something more. Alex wanted Ajax to develop a natural fondness for the sword, so he took him to the training grounds whenever he could, using games to introduce the basics. To Ajax, these moments were more than just training—they were an opportunity to bond with his father in a way he had never experienced in his previous life. Some days, it was Ajax who would pull his father toward the training grounds, eager for another lesson.
Though their sessions remained lighthearted, there was an underlying intensity to them. Over the next eleven months, Ajax dedicated himself to training. With Alex's patient guidance, he refined his swordsmanship and grew more comfortable wielding water magic. But what truly set him apart was his ability to absorb knowledge at an unnatural rate. With Lucius's advice, his own talent, and his desire to connect with his father, Ajax became increasingly skilled.
During this time, his Copy ability began to show slight signs of development. Though he couldn't yet replicate complex magic or techniques, he instinctively mimicked the way his father swung his sword, copying small gestures and even Alex's mannerisms, much to their amusement.
