Chapter 6: The Mystara World
This world is one of immense magical energy, where mana flows through every living being like the lifeblood of existence. Though everyone possesses at least a modicum of mana, the way it manifests in each individual varies widely. Some can only light a small flame, while others command the fury of the elements, shaping the very forces of nature to their will. Yet, even those with little mana can still carve out their place in society, specializing in physical pursuits like swordsmanship, martial arts, or more cerebral pursuits like business and research.
Mana, however, is not limitless. Like physical stamina, it can be exhausted. When one runs out of mana, they are drained entirely, unable to perform any magic or even take a simple step without collapsing from exhaustion. This fact has shaped the way many people live—those with little mana turn to professions where magic isn't as essential. They focus on strategy, intellect, or physical endurance, enhancing their capabilities with magical tools and equipment.
The world itself is divided into two distinct regions, each with its own unique magic and culture:
Elementara:
A continent of elemental magic, Elementara is home to a variety of civilizations and magical traditions. The people here are known for their connection to the elements, and through skill, luck, or sheer determination, some may even unlock the ultimate skills—powers beyond the basic elemental forces. Elementara is divided into three nations, each with its own unique culture and magical focus:
• The Sacred Nation: Home to humans who excel in both magic and physical abilities. Versatility is their greatest strength, and they are known for their adaptability and resilience.
• The Beast Nation: A land of beast humans and dragons, the Beast Nation thrives on physical prowess. While they lack strong magical abilities, they summon demons to assist them in their battles. Dragons, especially the feared red and black dragons, are notorious for their rebellious nature, while the revered white dragons are leaders, possessing the unique ability to transform into human form.
• The Elfin Nation: A nation inhabited by elves, fairies, spirits, and other magical beings. Elves are renowned for their magical prowess and are considered the most powerful magical practitioners in Elementara. The Elfin Nation is a place of great beauty, where magic flows through every aspect of life.
The peace between these nations has been hard-earned. Centuries ago, a bitter conflict broke out when humans sought to dominate the Beast and Elfin Nations. After years of struggle, the Beast and Elfin Nations managed to reclaim their territories. The nations, once again at peace, now have an agreement that ensures cooperation and harmony.
Umbraxis:
Across the seas lies Umbraxis, a land where the magic is darker, more elusive. Here, the dominant forms of magic are dark and spatial magic, which makes elemental magic a rare and highly valued skill. In Umbraxis, mana is treated with a certain reverence, and those who possess the ability to manipulate it are often seen as gifted. The land is ruled by a single king who governs over 134 cities, each led by a counselor.
Umbraxis, though unified under one rule, is very different from Elementara. Their currency, Noct, stands in contrast to Elementara's Luna, a symbol of the divide between the two continents.
The Arch of Heaven:
At the pinnacle of the cosmos sits the Arch of Heaven, a divine council of five leaders, each holding sway over different aspects of existence:
• Samuel: The Protector of the faithful, an unwavering guardian of those who worship the divine.
• Raphael: The healer and guide, known for his gentle nature and his ability to nurture and lead others toward enlightenment.
• Lord: The flames of divine love and transformation, a leader who embodies the power of change and growth.
• Gabriel: The herald of divine messages, delivering guidance from the divine to the mortal world.
• God: The keeper of sacred knowledge and wisdom, the most revered among the Arch, and the only one allowed to intervene in the affairs of creation.
The Arch of Heaven governs the divine order, with each leader commanding 10,000 angels. Their unity is pivotal in maintaining the balance of the cosmos, but not all is harmonious. Michael and Samuel harbor disagreements about the hierarchy, questioning why God alone has the right to intervene in the mortal world. They believe their own power and knowledge should grant them the same privilege. Raphael, however, remains detached from the disputes, maintaining his calm demeanor. Yet, when his patience is tested, Raphael's power is said to be the most terrifying among the Arch.
The balance between the realms, the interaction of elemental and dark magics, the influence of the divine, and the politics of nations—this is the world where Ajax Romanov, or Teo in his past life, will navigate his second chance. Every action, every choice, will have ramifications in this world of powerful forces, ancient legacies, and divine intrigue. The question remains: how will he shape his path?
