Chapter 16: Betrayal within 2
Solana stood in the restroom, gripping the sink with frustration. She looked through the mirror and anger burning over her face
"Why? Why does she always have to be so lucky?" she hissed through gritted teeth. "Why did Tony give her another chance?"
Jealousy twisted in her chest, making her fists clench. She had worked too hard to let Sarafina outshine her again.
A slow, wicked smile curled on her lips.
"I'll have to do something she will never forget in her life," she murmured, her voice dripping with malice.
And this time, she wouldn't fail.
Sarafina sat at her desk, staring at the files before her, frustration creeping in. No matter how many times she checked, she couldn't understand how her presentation had gone wrong. The only logical explanation was that someone had tampered with it.
Her phone buzzed.
Meet me at the rooftop. – Tony.
Without hesitation, she made her way up.
Tony stood with his hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable.
"Thank you for giving me another chance to present," Sarafina said, offering a small smile.
"It's okay," Tony replied. "But there's something you need to know." He hesitated, then continued, "I checked the CCTV footage… and it confirmed that your boyfriend tampered with your presentation."
Sarafina froze.
"What?" she gasped. "That's impossible! I thought it was Solana!"
"I thought so too," Tony admitted. "Her behavior during the conference was suspicious. But the footage shows Caleb at your desk, switching the files."
Sarafina's mind raced. Why would Caleb do this to me?
"Why did you suspect Solana?" she asked after a moment.
"Because she was acting strange," Tony said. "And I saw her near your table this morning. I assumed she was trying to steal ideas from your proposal."
Sarafina swallowed hard.
"So… what are you going to do about your boyfriend?"
She hesitated, her emotions in turmoil. "I'll ask him why he did it."
"Won't that be dangerous?" Tony asked, concern in his voice.
Sarafina forced a smile. "Dangerous? He's my boyfriend, remember?"
But deep down, she knew—Caleb wasn't the man she thought he was. And she wasn't sure she was ready to face the truth.
