Chapter 14: The call

Monday afternoon, Jaxon sat in his room after he closed from school. He was staring at his phone as it buzzed with a text from Max. "Hey, Jaxon! I just got a call from a wealthy businessman in Houston. He wants you to perform at his daughter's birthday party on Saturday night."

Jaxon's heart skipped a beat as he read the message. A private party for one of Houston's elite? This was a huge opportunity.

He quickly called Max to get more details. "Hey, Max! What's the scoop on this party?"

"It's at the River Oaks Country Club," Max said. "The businessman's name is Marcus Thompson, and he's willing to pay top dollar for your performance."

Jaxon's mind was racing. This was a chance to perform in front of some of Houston's most influential people.

"When is the party?" Jaxon asked, trying to sound calm.

"Saturday night," Max replied. "We need to be there by 6 pm."

Jaxon looked at his watch. It was already Monday afternoon. He had five days to get ready.

"Okay, I'll meet you at the country club on Saturday at 5 pm," Jaxon said, trying to sound confident.

"Sounds good," Max said. "And Jaxon?"

"Yeah?"

"Dress to impress. This is a high-end party."

Jaxon nodded, even though Max couldn't see him. He knew that this was a chance to make a good impression, and he was determined to make the most of it.

The rest of the week flew by in a blur as Jaxon rehearsed his set list and perfected his guitar playing. He was ready for Saturday night.

Saturday morning

Jaxon woke up feeling excited and nervous. Today was the day he would be performing at the private party.

He spent the morning rehearsing his songs and making sure he knew every note and every lyric by heart.

As the afternoon wore on, Jaxon started to think about what he would wear to the party. He wanted to make a good impression, so he chose a sleek black shirt and a pair of dark jeans. He added a touch of flair with a silver necklace and a pair of black boots.

Just as he was finishing up, his friends Alex and Jake arrived at his house. They were both wearing identical shirts with "Jaxon" emblazoned on the back in bold letters.

"Whoa, nice shirts, guys!" Jaxon said, laughing.

"We wanted to show our support," Alex said, grinning. "We're going to be in the front row, cheering you on."

Jaxon felt a surge of gratitude towards his friends. They had always been there for him, supporting him every step of the way.

As they hung out in Jaxon's room, his friends couldn't stop talking about the party. "Dude, you're going to be performing on a high stage," Jake said, his eyes wide with excitement. "You're going to be seen by some of the most important people in Houston."

Jaxon nodded, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. He knew that this was a big opportunity, and he was determined to make the most of it.

As the evening wore on, Jaxon's parents called him downstairs to take some photos before he left for the party. Jaxon posed with his friends, smiling and laughing as they took silly photos.

Finally, it was time for Jaxon to leave. His friends walked him out to the car, where Max was waiting to drive him to the party.

"Good luck, man," Alex said, clapping Jaxon on the back.

"You're going to crush it," Jake added.

Jaxon grinned, feeling confident and ready to rock. He got into the car and waved goodbye to his friends as they drove off into the night.

As they drove to the country club, Jaxon couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. He had performed at many events before, but this one was different. This was a high-end party, and he knew that he had to bring his A-game.

Max, sensing Jaxon's nerves, put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Hey, kid, you're going to do great. Just relax and enjoy the moment."

Jaxon took a deep breath and nodded. He knew that Max was right. He had prepared for this moment for weeks, and he was ready.

When they arrived at the country club, Jaxon was struck by the grandeur of the venue. The building was imposing, with tall columns and a sweeping staircase. The grounds were immaculately manicured, with perfectly trimmed hedges and sparkling fountains.

Jaxon's eyes widened as he took in the sight. "Wow, this place is incredible," he breathed.

Max smiled. "I told you it was going to be fancy. Now, let's get you set up and ready to go."

Jaxon nodded, and together they made their way to the stage. As they set up Jaxon's equipment, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. He was doing this. He was performing at a high-end party, and he was ready to give it his all.

As the guests began to arrive, Jaxon's nerves started to kick in again. He took a few deep breaths and reminded himself of all the hard work he had put in. He was ready for this.

Just as he was about to go on stage, Jaxon's friends Alex and Jake appeared at his side. They were both grinning from ear to ear, and they were wearing their "Jaxon" shirts proudly.

"Dude, you're going to crush it," Alex said, clapping Jaxon on the back.

"Yeah, just relax and have fun," Jake added.

Jaxon smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards his friends. They had always been there for him, supporting him every step of the way.

With a final nod, Jaxon took the stage, he was ready to perform. The lights shone brightly down on him, and the crowd erupted into applause.

Jaxon grinned, feeling a rush of adrenaline. This was it. This was his moment.
