Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 494: Oppressive Pillars

After lifting Carmen up from the ground, Xu Feng was about to turn around and inform the others that their rest was over, only to feel a tug on his cloak sleeve.

"Is there anything else you are confused about?" Xu Feng softly asked.

"No, it's just that you don't really know about my past, right?" Carmen bit her lips softly and questioned. She had been running away from her past, going as far as changing her name in the process.

If Xu Feng happened to actually know who she really was, then Carmen couldn't imagine what she would do next.

Amidst her dazed thoughts, she felt a fierce pain at the top of her forehead.

When she came back to reality, she saw Xu Feng retracting his fingers. Clearly, Xu Feng had given her a flicker to her forehead— a painful one at that.

"Ow, what was that for?" Carmen rubbed her forehead and noticed her health points actually dropped by 3%.

"Knocking you out of your delulu imagination." Xu Feng shrugged in response. "I'm not a god or an omnipotent being. How am I supposed to know all about your past?"

Of course, the way Xu Feng worded concealed a hint that he knew a little bit about her, but not everything. Hence, he was being honest, but whether Carmen could catch the hint or not was another story.

"You didn't have to flick my forehead that hard though." Carmen understood she was overthinking things, but still pouted at the painful sensation.

"If not painful, then how could you learn the lesson?" Xu Feng flatly said, clearly not going to show any remorse or regret in his action.

And it was precisely because of this that Carmen actually felt warmth in her heart.

No, she was not a masochist. Instead, it was the fact that Xu Feng seemed to know she was going through some trouble, but refused to force her to speak up.

He would rather wait until she slowly opened up to him than force her like most people would do, especially those so-called licensed therapists.

Feeling grateful, Carmen followed Xu Feng, who gradually ordered the group that their resting time be up.

"Alright, let's get up and destroy the Oppressive Pillar." Xu Feng announced loudly.

"Huh? We're barely getting any rest…" Ardent Lance frowned and twitched his mouth.

"My stamina is still on the low side." Steelshot's mouth was left agape.

Usually, they should be given at least 5 minutes of resting to completely recover.

However, it had only been less than 3 minutes since they got to sit down properly.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng didn't bother to say anything and simply opened his map.

"Do you see the map and how many pillars have been destroyed by now? 6 have already been destroyed and most are merged together to assist the others." He then explained, informing them that they were already quite behind in progress.

Sure enough, the group soon came to a realization that the debuffs on them were slowly decreasing.

Ashamed of their slow speed, they couldn't fathom how the others were able to advance so fast.

"These Elite Enemies were next level, so how did they manage it?" Iceheart furrowed her brows. She had nearly been killed in the process, and not to brag, she doubted the others were capable of being on par with her, especially those in the Berserker Class.

"Wait, are we even fighting the same type of monsters?" Veronica, who usually remained quiet in this type of conversation, suddenly raised her doubts.

"I don't mean any offense, but the Raid Leader did mention each passage is different in everything. So what if the monsters we fought are the hardest ones?"

As soon as Veronica finished her words, almost everyone turned their attention to Xu Feng, clearly demanding an answer.

"Wow, I didn't expect it would be the newcomer to figure it out and oust me like that." Amused, Xu Feng chuckled and nodded his head.

"We seriously got the hardest passage?" SilentWhisper chimed in and felt bitterness in her heart.

"Knowing the Raid Leader, he's definitely the masochist type." Zhao Kai exclaimed, not a bit surprised that they got the hardest obstacle out of everyone.

"Now, let's not act all bitter when your combat skill improves by a large margin, especially your cooperation… actually never mind, your cooperation still needs work, but we can work on that." Xu Feng clasped his hands and ended the conversation.

Despite their unwillingness, the group still stood up and got ready to search for the Oppressive Pillar.

Unbeknownst to them, Xu Feng didn't choose this passage because of its difficulty, but because the Origin Pass was located here. At first, Xu Feng thought he needed to do a more in-depth investigation and search for it.

But his luck finally decided to bless him and it was actually held by the Warden. He nearly got a shock when he saw the Origin Pass.

After all, if the Warden was the one who held the Origin Pass, then how come no one else managed to find it in his past timeline? There were too many variables and unknowns here that Xu Feng decided to stop thinking overall.

Some mystery could last for decades before one could find an answer for it.

'Whatever, I ain't complaining.' Xu Feng thought to himself.

A few minutes later, the group soon found a secret room that led to an ominous large obelisk-like pillar.

Looking at it already gave them the creeps and chills.

"No wonder it is called the Oppressive Pillar." Steelshot glanced upward and found it hard to even see the top of it. This was the pillar that had been suppressing them on a wide scale.

"Do we just attack it to destroy them?" Carmen inquired softly.

"No, if we go that route, then it'll take an hour without any rest to destroy it." Xu Feng shook his head.

"Huh, then how do we destroy it?" Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire

"Did you forget the reason why we searched for the 5 monsters to kill in the first place?"

After saying that, Xu Feng walked to the Oppressive Pillar and placed his palm on it.
