Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?

Chapter 1546: Afraid Of The Truth

-----

As it was being bombarded to death with flames from every single angle, the alien amalgamation screamed, trying to create barriers with its last psychic energy reserves, but even this mighty alien, one made of the fusion of several, could simply not go against their endless assault!

The greatest threat these aliens posed was their ability of proliferation, and their power to easily copy the power of others to an extent! However, this amalgamation had existed for too long, their energy reserves, although very high, had already faded away entirely.

The only thing left for them was the core of the Orichalcum Golem, providing them with endless energy from the power generated by the souls inside constantly spiraling in agony within an immensely compressed space.

With the core broken enough, all the souls escaped and disappeared, leaving no energy to absorb, exhausted, the monster could only desperately use the last bits of psychic energy to generate barriers, only slowing down its demise.

Its countless eyes glanced at the other mushrooms in the cave, and how they were unable to copy the DNA of these attackers, unfulfilling its life cycle.

Even as monstrous aliens, these beings were like any other animal, a living being trying to survive like any other, trying to let its offspring survive, and proliferate.

It was all within its nature of survival, even as wicked as its powers could be…

But then, as it began to melt and boil, on its endless agony.

It glanced at Pyuku again.

"Graaaarrgghh…!"

Its eyes were fixated on him for several seconds, its tentacles even stretching to touch him.

Pyuku stayed behind, firing fireballs from his hands, squinting his eyes, as if he was trying to understand if this monster was trying to kill him or not even as it melted.

Something within the alien seemed suddenly… relieved, as it saw Pyuku.

Maybe these larvae didn't make it but…

"Live…"

"Huh?"

Pyuku stopped attacking, as he could swear he heard some sort of strange, motherly voice echo within his head.

It came from the monster that had just finally died… the monster that instantly attempted to kill everyone on sight.

"Why did it tell me that…?" Pyuku was confused. "What the hell…"

Pyuku felt more weirded out than anything, although he was also a very sensitive person, so a part of her felt like there was something… weird about this all.

"Hmmm…" he sighed, crossing her arms as he glanced at the corpse.

Once it was finally over, everyone quickly ran to the emptier areas of the cave again, the spring was too full of the larvae to take a relaxing rest.

"Phew, we're finally done…" said Aquarina, sighing in relief. "Man, it was much easier now that everyone got a powerup! The next golem is going to get wrecked even more easily."

"Yeeah!" Silvia nodded. "We really give it a nice lesson to that damn thing!"

"It's finally over… Phew… to be honest I'm just really beat…" Justicio sighed in relief, resting over the cold stone floor. "Argh… My whole-body hurts like hell…"

"Undine, heal Justicio please," Aquarina said.

"Sure," Undine appeared, washing Justicio's body with healing waters, both refreshing and regenerative, Justicio quite literally took a nice bath.

"Haahhh… The pain's gone instantly, this is amazing," he sighed in relief. "Ugh… Now I feel all sleepy, that was way too relaxing… Ugh…"

He slowly sat down to not fall asleep, yawning.

"Hahaha! Is it that relaxing? I'm used to it by now," laughed Aquarina. "Don't be such a sleepyhead, let's burn the rest of the larvae and get back home."

"Okay!" Silvia nodded. "Khepri, time for your second ornament!"

"Yeah I'm excited!" nodded Khepri, quickly letting go of Silvia who jumped off her.

"Oof, it still kind of cramped and annoying inside, phew," Silvia patted her butt, which hurt a bit from staying there. "I hope you can get bigger, Khepri…"

"For sure, don't worry about that!" nodded Khepri. "I… I hope so."

"Hmm, well, whatever the case, we're done," said Aquarina, standing up and looking around, stretching her body as Undine quickly gave her a healing wash to feel refreshed. "Phew, alright! Now let's go burn the… Hm? Pyuku?"

"…"

She suddenly noticed Pyuku was acting weird again, almost the same way when he revealed his true identity to everyone in Cloudia.

He was standing in the middle of the spring, touching the mushrooms and being completely unaffected by them.

What he had believed to be a simple immunity, suddenly began to feel like it had another origin to him.

"T-This can't be… true, right?"

"What?"

Aquarina walked towards him, evading the mushrooms and encompassing her body with her Aura.

"These mushrooms don't affect me; the larvae can't copy my DNA."

"Yeah, because you're like the robots maybe?"

"But I'm a living being, I have DNA, I am sure of it! It's one of the few technical terms the Gods use which I know the meaning of… It is something within every cell of our bodies, stored information about what we are, genetical code."

"Okaaay… So what that has to do with anything?"

Aquarina couldn't quite get it, making Pyuku a bit frustrated.

"It means that they should definitely be able to copy me, they're aliens from outer space, meaning they're compatible with any lifeform. In fact I was worried they could copy the race of Sphynxiette from the Orichalcum, but it seems the Orichalcum's blood cells are already dead and cannot be copied anymore."

"O-Oh…"

"This means that… Maybe we slimes are very related to the Doppelgangers, perhaps the same family…"

"Really?!"

"Yeah… Uh, I don't really want to think more about it, but we were technically made by the Gods so… I… don't know."

"Pyuku…"

Aquarina noticed Pyuku's face was full of… frustration, and a bit of fear.

"I don't know what to think, Aquarina… I'm afraid. I'm afraid that whatever I find out… it'll be horrifying."

"C-Calm down, it's okay."

Aquarina hugged Pyuku, patting his shoulders and head.

"Whatever we learn, and whatever happens… You're still Pyuku, you're still yourself, and nobody can change that, alright? You're one of my best friends, and my partner and family! Like a brother at this point."

"Aquarinaaaa!"

Pyuku ended hugging Aquarina while sobbing, the boy too traumatized with every single horrendous thing the gods did in the past.
