Chapter 220: I hate democracy
"730094001 have voted 'for'. 609212491 have voted against. Thus, we declare that the optional rule 513 is to become active on Earth-Omega-0048. Now, we ask everybody to leave the court hall," Red Rulekeeper said, and the gods in the audience cheered or protested based on the side they were on.
I jumped to my feet.
'Finally! I hate democracy!'
I didn't know why I wasn't sent to the Bee Empire after the Goddess of Bees and the God of Humanity settled their problems, but I was sure that if I asked to leave, the Goddess of Bees would've come up with a reason to keep me here out of pure spite.
But now, Rulekeepers kicked everybody out by themselves.
"Wonderful to hear that! Goodbye, Rulekeepers," The God of Humanity clapped his hands, and suddenly, the two of us were floating in a gray void instead of standing in a giant amphitheater.
Before I could be happy about not seeing the Goddess of Bees, she appeared nearby as well—and became several times as big as before. Now she was the size of an elephant.
"Dick, this means you are going to be my *champion*! Oh, perhaps I should explain to you how rule 513 works."
"Why bother?" the Goddess of Bees said. "I'm going to just give him a system and place all the necessary information there. He will manage."
"A system? You've been stealing my ideas again? Oh, I will forget it—those are wonderful ideas and absolutely worth stealing. Anyway, we are allies now, and what's some stealing between allies, eh?" The God of Humanity grinned, at which the Goddess of Bees clicked in annoyance.
"I can manage with a system, esteemed gods," I said quickly. "I'm sure my people need me—I should go back and champion them!"
(Even if my system was a tight-lipped one, it was way less troublesome and more informative than two divine bastards with egos larder than islands.)
The God of Humanity frowned.
"This is true, I suppose, Dick. But at the very least, I must give you a blessing to spend my evolution points—or I will have to place them elsewhere, and it will defeat the point of having a champion. Say, what kind of system you planned to place, Goddess of Bees?"
"Don't touch it. It was perfect as it was!"
"Um… Esteemed God of Humanity, what blessing are you talking about?"
He waved his hand dismissively.
"Oh, I have more important things to do than explaining the rules of The Game to mortals. Goddess of Bees, I must admit that your strategy, whatever it was, has been effective until now. Add my points to your system and we can be done here."
She let out a satisfied click of mandibles.
"Very well, very well. Bee genome will be superior…"
"With human mind and culture!" The God of Humanity added.
"Tsk. Keep telling yourself that *this* was the key." The Goddess of Bees turned to me. "Mortal, keep conquering the world. Take over the humans and the bees alike—what matters most is spreading your influence and progeny as far as possible."
The God of Humanity nodded.
"Yes! But one warning before you go, Dick. Since you were the center of attention on the court case, and publicly declared our champion, other gods from opposing factions will send whoever they can to kill you. Especially since the fast evolution rules are active and they can evolve killer beasts within years or even months instead of thousands of years. At least they still can't go against you directly! I will keep a close watch on that."
I blinked.
Ah, yes. I expected something like this. After all, fast evolution rules were global.
I just refused to think about this, because I already had every possible problem on my plate!
"Thank you, God of Humanity. You are my guardian angel," I said dryly.
He laughed.
"Now, get the hell out of here! Goddess of Bees, put him back where you took him from."
"Yes. And here's *my* word of advice, mortal."
Suddenly, she flew so close that I could reach out and touch her giant eyes.
"You did an *oh so clever* thing today. But don't think that I won't get to you if you cross me. I only need you for the points."
With these venomous words, she clicked her mandibles, and I was thrown out of the void.

As soon as I finally reappeared on Earth-Omega-0048, I was hit by a hellish noise and the stench of smoke. Wincing, I covered my ears and looked around.
For a moment, I wondered if the Goddess of Bees messed with me by bringing me somewhere far, far from the Bee Empire. Then I realized I was *exactly* where I disappeared from—the ground on the outskirts of Hive Supremo!
Except right now, the place was at war.
Two dozen humans with torches were trying to approach it, while dozens of hundreds of bees were doing everything in their power to keep them away; ballistas were shooting volley after volley of arrows at the invaders. Everybody was so focused on the battle that my reappearance went entirely unnoticed.
It was an absolute hell on earth. I clutched my heart—my girls were dying by hundreds!
How did it happen? Why?!
With relief, I saw my system was back—I saw the status windows of creatures close enough for it. Goddess of Bees didn't lie here, at least.
<Welcome again, user! You have 2 new upgrades pending.>
'This can wait! I must help my people!'
I had to find Ambrosia, and I had to protect the hive. If humans poked Hive Supremo with their torches, they could destroy it easily—I couldn't let them!
'System, equip the "Titan Slayer" title!'
<Yes, user.>
My body filled with strength from the system and my desperation. I flew like mad toward the hive entrance, knowing that I was helping bees here to fight with just my aura. Some girls noticed me and gasped—but I passed by too quickly to hear their voices.
I got to Hive Supremo almost as quickly as the fastest of humans. He was only a step away from attack distance—and I couldn't even reach him because of all the bees that covered every inch of his upper body!
