Reincarnated in the Same World for the Nth Time

Chapter 22

The moonlight streaming through the central window illuminated the man’s figure.

A pure white robe without any gold embroidery.

Turning the corner, the one who appeared before Aquila and his group was the Dark Guild member who had been talking with Martio.

Before the man could finish speaking, Kahena and Shen naturally stepped forward as if to hide Aquila.

“At first, I thought it was just a priest wandering around this area after the meeting had already ended…”

The man looked over the two of them with a sensitive voice.

Perhaps because the tall Kahena and Shen were right next to her, Aquila wasn’t properly visible in the man’s view.

The Dark Guild member inspect Kahena, who had stepped forward bravely and looked anything but ordinary, as if keeping her in check.

“There’s no way a mere Sun Priestess would have such suspicious energy. Is she one of that guy’s underlings?”

So, the man said this.

He just thought that Kahena was one of the Saint Ianfel’s underlings who were digging into the dark guild member’s trails.

The only one who would release skilled individuals in this area was the Saint.

Kahena and Shen exchanged glances, rolling their eyes.

It would have been better for them if they had mistaken them like that, but…

“You, you guys! How on earth did you get here…!”

The sound of hurried footsteps was heard, and another person appeared before Aquila’s group.

Someone wearing a pure white robe with ornate gold embroidery.

Martio, who had chased after the dark guild member who had suddenly gone outside before moving Yuzelia, raised his voice in anger as soon as he discovered the familiar faces.

He hadn’t even forgotten the humiliation he had suffered from Aquila that morning.

“What security do you think this place has that you can come all the way in here!”

Martio pointed a finger at Kahena and Shen while looking around.

“That noble! Where is he, and why are only you guys here! Huh! Could it be that your master, that shameless fellow, sent people here to do something……”

“Shameless noble, those are unpleasant words to hear.”

Even though Kahena and Shen stepped forward as if to protect him, Aquila, who had been quietly staying still without any particular complaints, finally poked his head out at those words.

“Wh, what……!”

Martio, who was about to spew out curses in an instant, wore a bewildered expression as he saw Aquila emerge gently from behind Kahena.

He hadn’t been aware of any presence and hadn’t seen him, so he had just spat out harsh words for the time being.

Of course, Aquila was also going to stay behind them without any particular complaints.

That would have been the case if Kahena and Shen’s attitude hadn’t changed as soon as Martio had uttered words that insulted Aquila Leschenhartz.

A chilling murderous intent that seemed as if they would immediately rush in and cut his throat.

That energy was sensed from the two people right in front of him.

It wouldn’t matter if the opponent was just Martio, but he couldn’t let the Dark Guild member’s neck be cut off as well.

He had to get information about Velma-Bourne.

Aquila pulled their shoulders to stop them as they exchanged glances.

“Aquila, Reshenhardt……”

The Dark Guild member, who knew there was one more person, quietly muttered, not knowing that the one behind was Aquila Reshenhardt.

Aquila’s hair was such an intense shade of red that it couldn’t be mistaken, even in this hallway filled with bluish moonlight, so there was no way he wouldn’t know who he was.

The man’s eyes darkened.

“To think that you would sneak in here with even your servant!”

Martio stammered a few more times, but his pride seemed to be hurt by the very fact that he was flustered, so he glared at him.

“Even if you are a Reshenhardt, this is not a place where you can set your dirty feet so carelessly in such a sacred temple!”

And then he shouted in a sharp voice.

The bishop stretched out his hand and pointed alternately at Aquila, Shen, and Kahena.

“The Great Temple of Port Plum  will consider this an affront to its sacred authority! The gods will rain down their wrath upon you!”

The bishop’s face was flushed, just like when they had talked that morning, and his plump jaw trembled as he spat out his anger.

However, Aquila didn’t take the bishop’s words seriously, nor did he show any change in expression.

‘Why do all priests rant the same way?’

Every time, it’s about the temple’s authority, or the god’s wrath.

If they’re going to provoke him, they need something fresh, but they always say the same things, so it’s bound to be tiresome.

A deep weariness settled in Aquila’s dark eyes.

“If Rasphallara was going to be wrathful and issue divine punishment, he should have done it a long time ago.”

“Huh! Yes, it should have been inflicted on you long ago, you shameless fellow! Even just your rude behavior towards me, the bishop of this Temple of the Sun……!”

“If that were the case, I would have been struck by lightning and killed long ago, so you and I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet like this.”

Aquila, who cut off Martio’s voice as he spoke, spitting, quickly scanned the bishop’s entire body.

Then, he shook his head as if to show it on purpose.

“Lightning? Who are you even talking to……! You! Why are you talking while looking at me!”

Martio didn’t seem to understand right away.

But thanks to Aquila’s attitude, he realized that he was talking about himself and started raging again.

“Looking back on yourself…”

Aquila rubbed his face with his palm and shifted his gaze, once again meeting the eyes of the Dark Guild member.

The man did not pay attention to Martio’s raised voice and remained motionless, fixing his gaze only on Aquila.

Shadows filled the man’s face as he stood with his back to the window, but some strange emotion was swirling fiercely within him.

It was so intense that he couldn’t pretend not to notice it, even though it was buried in darkness……

“Young Master!”

At the same time as Shen’s shout, he grabbed Aquila’s shoulder and pulled him back.

Clang!

And at that very moment, light flashed before his eyes.

Sparks flew as swords collided.

The Dark Guild member had charged in with his sword, aiming for Aquila in the blink of an eye.

Skreek.

The sword stopped without even touching near Aquila.

It was due to Kahena’s actions, who had not taken her hand off the sword hilt due to the man’s suspicious behavior.

“Wh, wh, what are you suddenly doing……!”

Martio, who belatedly grasped the situation due to the movements being too fast to follow with his eyes, shouted.

But even with the bishop’s voice, the man didn’t stop.

The Dark Guild member pulled back the blocked sword, then changed the trajectory of the sword and wielded the silver blade.

Clang!

How much strength was contained in it, the swords that clashed again let out a clear wail.

“Aquila, Reshenhardt…….”

The man muttered in a sinister voice.

His face, which was now close, was filled with a murderous intent to kill the opponent in front of him.

The man pulled his arm back again.

And then, once again, he tried to stab the tip of the sword at Aquila’s vital point.

“Where do you think you’re going!”

But Kahena wasn’t going to just stand by and watch.

She immediately blocked the sword, which was only targeting Aquila as if she didn’t matter.

Clang!

It was so heavy that an even stronger echo spread than when the man swung his sword.

A short exchange.

Even so, Kahena didn’t miss the moment when the Dark Guild member stopped, seemingly having a strain on his wrist because of it.

Her dark brown eyes shone with a sharp light.

Swoosh!

“Kuh-heuk!”

The man grabbed his wrist while suppressing a boiling scream.

Kahena had cut off his right hand holding the sword.

Blood gushed from the cleanly cut cross-section that was enough to recognize her skill.

Clatter!

The right wrist, which had been well attached to the man’s body, flew back and fell at Martio’s feet.

“Aaaaaaaack!”

Martio didn’t immediately grasp the situation and was just dazed, but soon screamed and scattered in a panic.

Then, he stumbled back, avoiding the severed wrist, and stuck to the wall.

The short-bladed knife, which had separated from his hand due to the impact of the fall, spun around on the marble floor several times on its own.

The sound of the silver blade scraping and spinning on the marble surface.

Before that sound could end, Kahena strongly grabbed the man’s nape even though he was trying to make some kind of movement while holding his wrist which was dripping with blood.

Then, she kicked the man’s knees to knock him down to the floor.

Crack!

“…Kh!”

Even though it was just a simple kick, a serious sound came from the man’s leg.

It was clear that his leg was really cracked or broken.

The man could no longer bear it and collapsed forward with a painful groan.

“The guy I followed earlier didn’t even scream loudly when I first cut him, so these guys must be better trained than I thought.”

Kahena said in her usual voice, placing her foot on top of the writhing man’s back.

This was because the man, whose spirit hadn’t diminished at all even after having his wrist cut and his leg broken, was trying to stand up somehow.

As expected of those belonging to the Dark Guild, they were clearly somewhat trained to endure pain.

They must have been trained to be able to move even if one place was cut or severed.

But…….

“Our little young master. Do you perhaps have any acquaintance with this guy?”

Even in the state of being collapsed on the floor, the man’s eyes were still filled with murderous intent towards Aquila, to the extent that Kahena asked that question.

Even if the Dark Guild was passionate about mission success, it didn’t make sense to harbor this level of emotion for just a mission.

Aquila would only be a simple target for them to eliminate, as they naturally committed murder.

Aquila shook his head with a face that said he didn’t know.

“There’s no way Young Master would be acquainted with a guy like this, right?”

It was Shen who came out to disprove Kahena’s words.

This servant couldn’t erase his displeasure from the moment he discovered the man’s face.

Above all, the man’s eerie gaze was strangely possessed, and it didn’t look normal even if you just looked at it.

“What do you usually think about my social circle, Shen?”

“Yes? Young Master?”

“My friends, or something.”

He asked sincerely because he didn’t know about the past Aquila, but it seemed to be heard a little differently by Shen.

“You don’t even go out of the mansion much, so what friends are you talking about, Young Master. And you said you didn’t need any friends after you failed to become friends with Lady Reisselle before.”

This servant continued to speak nonchalantly as if he was saying something obvious.

“You’re not a friend?”

“Me? I’m Young Master’s servant.”

Shen widened his eyes as if he was going to hear some strange words.

‘I don’t have any friends.’

If he remembered the unclear actions and rumors of Aquila Reshenhardt during the past twenty-nine playthroughs, it wasn’t strange that he didn’t have anyone close to him.

Then, it meant that as long as he was careful of the people inside the Reschenhardt mansion, there was no separate possibility of his identity being revealed.

Aquila quietly nodded as if he had understood.

“Wow. You both really act like people who don’t have any friends.”

Kahena burst out laughing, out of place with the situation.

“Anyway. I’ve never seen him at the Reshenhardt mansion either. Same goes for you Vice Commander Kahena, right?”

As Shen glared at Kahena, she cleared her throat and nodded.

‘Looking at it like this, if I don’t remember him, he’s probably just a passing extra.’

Aquila looked back down at the Dark Guild member who had been looking at him with reddened eyes since a while ago.

He didn’t think it was a pitiful situation to see the man lying on the floor.

It wasn’t difficult for him to recall the young children that the Dark Guild members had bought and sold, and the blood that had been stained on the man’s hands.

The man, who had met Aquila’s gaze, began to mutter in a voice that could barely be heard.

“Ah! Yes, that’s right! The devil, the devil is lurking inside your bodies… …!”

Martio, who was holding the knife that had fallen on the floor in the corridor, shouted while pointing the knife at them.

“But I, if you let me go as it is, I will not go anywhere to confess the sin of sprinkling blood on the sacred temple! So……!”

Martio’s voice was still full of bluff, but his face was as white as a sheet.

“Bishop. It seems you don’t know your position well right now.”

The moment Kahena diverted her attention like that.

Whoo-oong!

A subtle mana that ordinary people wouldn’t be able to notice slowly began to swirl.
