Chapter 53: Chapter 53 - How to Train Your Pervert

The dust had barely settled around Viser's fallen form when Rias stepped forward. Her usual regal presence softened as she approached Issei, who was still panting on the ground, red gauntlet gleaming with faint pulses of residual energy.

She crouched beside him, her voice calm but serious.

"Issei… what you just awakened isn't an ordinary Sacred Gear," she began, brushing a strand of crimson hair behind her ear. "It's one of the Thirteen Longinus—the most powerful class of Sacred Gears in existence. And yours… is the Boosted Gear."

Issei blinked. "B-Boosted what now?"

Akeno stepped in, her tone playful but edged with genuine awe. "The Red Dragon Emperor. One of the Heavenly Dragons is sealed inside that gauntlet. Every ten seconds… it doubles your power."

Issei's eyes nearly popped out of his skull. "D-Doubles?! Like… every ten seconds?! Forever?!"

Rias smiled faintly. "No, not forever. There's a limit based on your stamina and the host's physical capacity. But still… it's absurdly powerful."

Malrik, standing a few feet away with his arms crossed, let out an exaggerated gasp.

"Wait—what?! One of the Longinus?!" He leaned in with mock shock. "Man, that's crazy!"

Aika rolled her eyes behind him. "You knew the second he summoned it."

Mittelt snorted. "Yeah, he was smirking the whole time."

Malrik ignored them both, instead stepping closer to the still-dazed Issei, who was cradling his gauntlet as if it might bite him.

"Well, congratulations, Issei," Malrik said with a wide grin. "You've unlocked one of the most broken powers in existence."

Issei chuckled weakly. "Th-thanks… I think?"

Malrik's grin shifted just slightly—still charming, but now laced with something more sinister.

"Now then," he said, hands on his hips. "Since your Sacred Gear doubles your power every ten seconds…"

He paused. The silence was deafening.

"That means you need a body strong enough to handle that power."

Issei blinked. "Huh?"

Rias's brow lifted slightly, already sensing where this was going.

Malrik's grin widened. "So starting tomorrow—I'm doubling your physical training."

There was a moment of silence.

Then—

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Issei wailed, flopping backward onto the floor, arms sprawled. "I just lived through hell! I don't wanna die again!"

Aika coughed, trying to suppress a laugh. "Oh, he's gonna die all right. Burpees and boosted gears don't mix."

Kiba gave a sympathetic shrug. "It will help him grow stronger."

Koneko munched her snack calmly. "He needs it. He's still squishy."

Rias placed a gentle hand on her forehead, sighing. "It is for his own good."

Issei whimpered. "Et tu, Rias…?"

Malrik patted Issei on the shoulder. "Don't worry. You'll thank me when you're a six-pack-sporting, power-doubling harem king."

"I didn't ask for thissss…" Issei groaned.

Malrik chuckled as he turned, already heading toward the exit. "Well, too bad. You've got school and training tomorrow."

Behind him, the group slowly began to follow, a strange mix of amusement, respect, and dread.

And Issei?

He lay on the floor, groaning dramatically.

The night air was quiet as Malrik walked the dimly lit streets of Kuoh. The earlier battle with the Stray Devil still lingered in the back of his mind, but he wasn't tired. Not even close.

Aika walked beside him, arms folded behind her head, still practically buzzing from the fight. "Man, that was fun. Viser was gross, but I gotta admit—there's something satisfying about knocking a monster on its ass."

Mittelt hovered just slightly behind them, arms crossed, her expression unreadable.

Malrik tilted his head back to glance at the moon above, eyes narrowing slightly.

'It's about that time… Issei should be out on one of Koneko's errands. That means… he's going to meet her soon.'

His gaze sharpened.

'Asia Argento. That church. That bastard Raynare…'

He inhaled once, deeply, then let it out through his nose. A long breath. Calm. Focused.

"Hey," he said casually, glancing to the side. "You girls up for some light exercise?"

Aika immediately perked up, eyes gleaming. "Are we punching more monsters? Please say yes."

Mittelt narrowed her eyes, instantly picking up the change in tone. "Wait…" she said slowly. "Are you finally going after them?"

Malrik met her gaze, and his usual teasing smile curled into something different. Colder. Confident. Inevitable.

"It's time."

Mittelt blinked once. Then again. "You're serious."

"Dead serious," Malrik replied. "Raynare. Dohnaseek might've been scum, but he was just the prelude. We're hitting the church tonight."

Aika grinned, cracking her knuckles. "Heck yeah. Round two, baby."

Mittelt, though hesitant, gave a slow nod. Her expression had shifted—something steeled behind her eyes. "Raynare… she was my superior, once. If anyone's going to help end this, I want to be there."

Malrik's eyes glinted under the moonlight as he turned, cape fluttering behind him.

"Then suit up. We've got a nun to save and some fallen angels to bury."

The trio vanished down the street, their silhouettes melting into the shadows—headed toward the confrontation that would change everything.
