Chapter 1475: All Requests Completed
-----
"Alright! So you’ve completed all three quests, amazingly done princess! You and your party are as talented as the rumors! Truly, heroes in the making!"
The receptionist giggled happily as she nodded, looking at all the items and ingredients we brought to the table, and also the bodies of monsters.
"The Coral Crystals, done, the Blind Fish Cores, done, and the Goo King Core… partially done? I’ll put it as done because the Goo Queen was most likely the Goo King most people reported as dangerous," said the receptionist. "So yeah! That’s it. Here’s your rewards."
She quickly gave us a bag full of coins for all three quests, Ruby’s eyes widened when she saw so much money.
"If you earn this much I should have become an adventurer a while ago…" she sighed.
"Nah I think it’s better if you didn’t," said Celeste. "You would’ve gotten killed…"
"Yeah, I agree, you didn’t use your powers like now back then," I nodded. "It would have been dangerous, Ruby."
"Ahh… yeah, I hate to admit it but you’re right, I was kind of weak," she sighed.
"Well, not anymore, so don’t worry!" said Celica. "So no worries Ruby! You’ve gotten stronger, even stronger now, and stronger every time you hunt down monsters from now on!""That’s the spirit girls! Never give up!" nodded the receptionist, a cute dwarf woman with blonde hair and green eyes. "Anyways, Ruby right? You’ve gained enough renown to be a C Rank Adventurer now, congrats! Can you let me have your card for a sec?"
"S-Sure!" Ruby gave the card and then the receptionist placed a magic circle on top.
Its information changed, showing a new letter, C Rank.
"And it’s done! Congrats! You’re now considered a heavy hitter in the guild, a senior even, so you’ll probably get annoyed by juniors that want to test their strength with you sometimes," the recepsionist giggled.
"T-That sounds like hell…" said Ruby.
"It does but it’s fun! Get along with the juniors and you’ll get rewarded for your efforts too," the dwarf said. "Those of C Rank and above that help newbies to train and learn will get paid for their work, did you know?"
"I-I had no idea!" Ruby said, surprised again. "But I doubt I can teach anybody anything… I’m still learning myself, but thanks!"
"No prob!" the receptionist smiled. "Bye!"
"Byeee!" I waved my hand as we walked way of the guild.
Aside from the big bag of money, we got other rewards from those that placed the requests. The person that wanted the blind fish cores gave away some potions, the person that wanted the goo king dead gave a silver-colored sword with a purple jewel on it, a Darkness Spirit Sword, interesting! And lastly the one that wanted the corals also gave a bronze ring with a fire spirit stone and a necklace with a barrier spirit stone, wow.
"Hey these rewards aren’t half bad," I said. "Should we give them to Ruby?"
"Sure, I got better stuff anyways," Celeste shrugged.
"You can take them Ruby!" Celica said.
"E-Eh? Really?! These accessories… they’re top notch! And the sword too… the potions too?!" Ruby wondered.
"Keep it all, girl," I shrugged. "You’ve ever used a sword? I see you using hammer all the time and I guess it’s the best tool/weapon you can use but still, having more options never hurts."
"Hmm, I have never tried using one before," she said, glancing at the Darkness Spirit Sword. "I could give it a try… but doesn’t this sword look ominous?"
"It’s not cursed, I already checked," I said. "It just has a Darkness Spirit Stone inside, it’s a rare type of spirit stone imbued with Darkness Spirits, so it gives it a shadowy aura when used, which can enhance the range of your attacks and deal critical hit damage sometimes."
"Critical hit damage?" wondered Ruby. "What does that even means?"
"Uh, I mean, it means that sometimes there’s a chance to strike an enemy’s weakness and deal extra damage to their bodies!" I said.
"Oh, that sounds interesting!" Ruby said. "Okay, I am not good at swordsmanship though, would you teach me Sylphy?"
"Sure, we can try," I nodded. "But it’s not for everyone… I mean, among all my friends I don’t think any of them use swords. My brother uses them though, dual swords, they’re much lighter one-handed swords than the large two-handed I usually wield. He’s not here right now though, on his own little adventure with mom, Lara, and Mist… I miss them."
"Me too, I can’t believe I miss Mist’s endless yapping," sighed Celeste.
"I also miss Mist and also Zephy and Lara… and even Sylphy’s mom too, she is such a nice auntie!" said Celica.
"Yeah, yeah, we all miss them a lot," I nodded.
"Hmm, I wish I could learn more about them," said Ruby. "Would you mind telling me more about these people? Your friends and parents?"
"Oh, sure!" I nodded. "We’ll tell you all you want to know!"
As we made our way through the streets, suddenly I heard someone calling us from behind.
"Your majesty, wait! I forgot to tell you something important that I would like you to communicate with your father!"
It was August!
"Huh?"
We quickly stopped walking as he reached us, sighing in relief.
"Hahh, you sure walk fast!" he said. "But I made it, sorry for bothering you right now. But I had completely forgotten to tell you something… it’s about the Goo Queen’s activities and what it could mean for her to have appeared in a newbie dungeon out of nowhere seeking food from the Pink Goos."
"Ah, sure," I nodded. "What is it?"
"It’s about something dangerous," he said. "If the Goo Queen really moved out of her larger and better hunting grounds, it means something bigger… and meaner forced her to run away."
"Oh?" Celeste wondered. "You mean, that there’s a bigger monster lurking somewhere?"
"Maybe, that’s why I would like you to tell your father so he could investigate? A monster stronger than the Goo Queen already goes beyond even my strength," he sighed. "Only a Hero could take care of them…" Enjoy exclusive content from
