Chapter 1704: Improvement
Chapter 1704: Improvement
The woman closed her eyes, grabbing Ning's left arm. She pushed on it, making Ning feel a sharp pain in his arm. Then, she pulled on it. As if extending his arm like a rubber, the army grew as she pulled on it, slowly growing muscle, tissues, ligaments, nerves, bones, and skin.
Ning watched his left arm regenerate in a slow, steady fashion. It had been a long time since he saw it happen this slowly.
When she finally managed to heal his arm, Ning flexed his left arm a bit to see that she had done a perfect job.
"Thank you," Ning said, slowly moving his arm around. His fingers moved just as well and they grasped things just as well. He could fight with a spear again.
"Are you happy?" she asked.
"Yes," Ning said, his smile widening slightly. "This is amazing."
"Good. Now leave my place. I have other people to help too," she said.
"Yes, yes," Ning said. "Thank you for healing my arm, genuinely."
"No problem. Now leave."
Ning waved the woman goodbye and walked out of the apartment, finally having 2 arms once again. It had been nearly a month since he had lost it, so having it back felt quite nice.
The dull aching pain that was around his left arm was also gone. In the first place, he hadn't realized it was even there at all. He had been feeling it for so long that he never realized he was supposed to be without it.
He walked back to his tavern, showing Shara the new arm. They celebrated his arm's return by having him practice some spears and teaching her some spear art as well.
After they were done practicing fighting in their tavern room, they went to get some meal at the bottom.
Ning had at some point revealed that he was a Spirit Detective who was willing to work for a cheap price, so people began coming to him quite often throughout the evening to get their spirits checked.
Ning received a lot of quests thanks to that. This was nowhere near close to what he got in Jameen, but this was still quite an amazing amount.
By the time he woke up tomorrow, he expected to see over 30 points. To some surprise of his own, there were 40.
'That's not so common,' he thought slowly, feeling quite happy about it. Usually, of all the quests he did, most of them ended up paying back around 60% of the points the next day. Around 30% did it the next day after that, and the remaining 10% usually did not finish anything.
Today, however, he had received nearly 40 points. It was a great conversion rate in terms of points.
There was something that confused him quite a bit. He could not understand just how he was getting more points lately. He had noticed it a little back in Jameen, but it was something he confirmed last night.
Usually, quests gave him between 1 and 2 points, with the majority of it being 1 for quests regarding spirits. The only times it was higher was when he was killing people, or others were trying to kill him.
However, the difficulty of the quests hadn't increased, but somehow the points had. Now, he was regularly getting is and 2s just about an equal number of times.
There was a mystery there that he couldn't just attack. But, he had some guesses for it.
First, he had become one-armed, which was why he got a sort of handicap. If he were to follow that logic, however, it wouldn't add why he got so many more good quests last night after he got his arm back.
After a while, Ning made another guess. This was probably because of the location he was in. Compared to a place while Whitebridge and Usha's village, both Jameen and Toma were in arguably worse places.
Jameen was a remote city by the mountainside. Toma was similarly a way more remote city in the country of Lenes, but also, they now had an easier time going over to the war.
In fact, the influences of the war were visible in the city, which was why it was so great to do Spirit Detective work here in the first place.
Ning had no idea how he could possibly test that theory except by going into the middle of the war and seeing if that was the case for elevated points.
It didn't matter that his points had increased though. As long as it was not super low, he would be happy.
Once Shara woke up, they went to breakfast, trained for a while, and then left for the official building once again. Except the other time, this time they had a slip from someone else to enter inside without having to wait in a queue.
After a while, Ning arrived in front of two massive doors and looked around, trying to find the person who could help them.
"Hi, how may I be of your assistance?" a dark-skinned man appeared before them.
"Hello, we were told that you could help us look up someone's death circumstances," Ning said. "It is this girl's parents who died a while ago."
"Oh... uh, give me what details you can and I will see what I can find," the man said.
Shara gave her parents' names and the approximate days on how they died, and what it was reported as. After a couple of minutes of waiting, the truth came out.
"Here you go," the man said, sitting on the bench outside, opening the book to show the content to the two. Is this the couple you are looking for?"
He pointed to two names, the sight of which caused Shara to gasp. The man understood he had got the wrong names.
"Now, let's see here. Cause of death... is... accidentally having slipped off a cliff and died due to injuries. Bodies weren't found during the search."
