'Alright, I'm at the student library like you asked me to be.'
[Good. Now proceed to the taijutsu section and locate a book containing your academy's standard combat style. I will demonstrate another one of my functions.]
Hayatou followed the instructions, weaving through the neatly organized shelves until he reached the taijutsu section. His silver eyes skimmed over the various titles, recognizing books covering a range of styles. Some were focused on speed, others on power, and a few were dedicated to evasive movement or countering techniques. However, the Academy Standard Taijutsu Style was the most balanced—designed to build a solid foundation in all aspects of hand-to-hand combat.
He reached for the Introductory Academy Taijutsu Manual, the very same book he had struggled with in his early days, and to an extent, still does. The first twenty forms within it were the ones every student was expected to memorize within their first few months. However, as he flipped through, he realized the book actually contained exactly fifty-three forms—progressively more advanced techniques that incorporated sharper counters, stronger kicks, and more refined strikes.
The Academy didn't teach these forms directly. Instead, students were left to improve on their own after the basics were drilled into them.
A rough world, huh?
He shook the thought away. He had something that gave him an edge.
'Alright, what do I do next, N.E.O.?'
[Focus your vision on the pages and begin turning them one by one. Do not skip a single page, and ensure you expose both the front and back of each.]
Nodding, Hayatou did as instructed. He carefully flipped through the entire book, keeping his gaze steady on each page before moving on. The process took a few minutes, but once he reached the last page, N.E.O.'s voice chimed in again.
[Scanning complete. All forms successfully digitized. Now optimizing—removing redundancies, correcting structural inefficiencies, and refining techniques for maximum effectiveness…]
Hayatou paused. He could hear N.E.O. working in his mind, processing data at incredible speeds.
'Wait…? You're even improving these forms?'
[Correct. Many traditional martial arts contain flawed or inefficient movements passed down through generations without question. My system spots and eliminates unnecessary actions, enhances fluidity, and optimizes movement patterns for maximum combat efficiency.]
Hayatou's eyes widened slightly. He had expected N.E.O. to store the moves for later reference, but actively improving them? That was next level.
'So… what now?'
[I can imprint the revised techniques directly into your neural pathways and muscle memory. This will allow for instantaneous mastery—your body will move as if you have trained in these forms for years. However, be advised: this process does not enhance your physical attributes. It only refines your skill in utilizing your current capabilities. Additionally, if imprinted purely into the body, execution will become highly instinctual, but reactionary combat awareness will remain limited... If imprinted into the mind as well, you will gain full cognitive understanding of each move, allowing for greater strategic adaptation.]
Hayatou inhaled sharply.
This was huge.
With this, he wouldn't have to spend months drilling techniques over and over again—he could master them near instantly.
Still, something told him he wasn't quite ready to undergo that process just yet. Not here.
'Alright. Let's hold off until I get somewhere quiet.'
[Understood. In the meantime, I suggest scanning as many other books as possible. Expanding your database will provide more reference points for future enhancements.]
Hayatou smirked. 'I was already on it.'
Wasting no time, he grabbed another book—this one detailing intermediate counter-strikes and defensive maneuvers. If he was going to optimize his fighting style, he might as well go all in.

.
After spending minutes of reading all the taijutsu books he could with his level of access, which wasn't much. He stored all of them within N.E.O's database.
'That should be all of what I can access. Next year, I should be able to get my hands on other books. Unfortunately, I can't access ninjutsu scrolls until I reach the second year...'
After sighing, Hayatou quickly placed all of the books he had scanned back into their respective positions. He had to train later today, and now he needed to incorporate taijutsu training into the mix.
'Like they say; aim for the stars, and you'll land on the moon.' After deciding to head out. He could see a girl with bright pink hair reading a book, as he took a closer look he recognized both the person's attire and features attire, all pink, green eyes and a massive forehead...
'No question about it, that's definitely Sakura Haruno... Not my most favorite character in the series, but she was ok... Seeing her in the flesh. She's low-key adorable right now, like pinch your cheeks adorable...'
Still, getting involved with her wouldn't put me in much of a good position, It's best I leave her alone as well as the main cast. I'm not strong enough to even stand in their shadows, much less with them.
So with that, he left, for now...

The rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping of birds were the only sounds filling the air. Hayatou had made sure to pick a spot extremely far from the usual training grounds—he needed absolute privacy for what he was about to do.
He exhaled, rolling his shoulders as he spoke aloud.
"Alright, N.E.O. Transfer only the basic Academy Taijutsu style for now—the one you optimized."
There was a brief pause before N.E.O. responded.
[Warning: This process is typically highly disorienting and induces significant neurological strain... However, due to your enhanced cognitive functions, the impact will be minimized greatly. Expect minor disorientation, but no lasting side effects.]
Hayatou smirked slightly. "So, what you're saying is—this would've essentially been absolute hell if I were a normal person?"
[In lame man's terms, yes... That is correct.]
He chuckled, but it quickly faded as he took a deep breath. Even with his so-called enhanced brain, he wasn't about to play a fool and underestimate the process.
'Alright then… Let's do it.'
[Acknowledged. Initializing Combat Neural Imprint. Standby.]
Almost immediately, a surge of foreign data flooded his brain.
It was as if a thousand faint memories were being forcefully injected into his mind all at once—memories that weren't his, yet felt eerily familiar.
He saw himself performing the forms, executing precise movements with perfect footwork, shifting seamlessly from strike to counter, from block to evasive maneuvers. It wasn't just knowledge—it was experience being burned into his very being.
His muscles twitched involuntarily as his body absorbed the imprinted techniques. Every motion, every correction, every refined stance—all of it solidified as if he had spent years practicing instead of mere seconds...
Then, just as quickly as it started—
It stopped...
"Urgh~" Hayatou grumbled, his body instinctively tensing as the process came to an abrupt halt...
He staggered, his knees bending slightly as he reached up to grip his forehead. His vision swam for a brief moment, the world around him tilting ever so slightly before his senses slowly stabilized. A faint ringing echoed in his ears, but it was distant—almost insignificant compared to the torrent of new information now embedded in his mind.
His balance was slightly off, but nothing too severe. A dull throb pulsed at the back of his skull, a lingering sensation that reminded him of how his mind had just been forcibly rewritten. And yet, compared to the mind-numbing pain he had anticipated?
This was practically nothing.
He exhaled sharply, rolling his shoulders as his body adjusted.
'So… this is what it feels like to know all these moves.'
The knowledge wasn't just there—it was part of him now. Every stance, every form, every slight adjustment in footwork and balance—he didn't have to think about them. His body simply knew.
He took a deep breath, stepping forward and shifting his weight instinctively. His feet moved smoothly, perfectly aligned in the stance of the Academy's improved taijutsu form.
'Time to test it out.'
Without hesitation, he threw a punch.
A basic, straightforward strike. The simplest move in taijutsu.
And yet—
Whoosh~
The sound of his fist cutting through the air was crisp and precise.
Hayatou's eyes widened slightly... 'Whoa...'
It wasn't just a punch. It was perfect. His arm extended with fluidity, his wrist locked at the exact right moment to maximize impact force, his feet firmly rooted, generating a natural kinetic chain from the ground up.
No wasted movement. No unnecessary energy expenditure... He didn't even feel a slight bit of tax from throwing the damned thing.
It was efficiency in its purest form.
He didn't just throw the punch. He executed it.
A smirk formed on his lips.
'This… This is real mastery.'
However, he shook his head, 'No… This still isn't enough.'
It was true that he had perfect technique, but perfection without experience meant nothing. He had the movements, the precision, but what he lacked was instinct—the ability to read an opponent, to react, to understand the ever-shifting flow of battle.
'Having the perfect moves was useless if he didn't know when to use them.' He exhaled slowly, steadying his breathing as a thought crossed his mind.
'N.E.O… is there any chance you have a function that can create opponents for me?'
A pause.
Then—
[Affirmative. However, due to our current synchronization rate, the Advanced Combat Simulation function is locked until I have reached 100% integration.]
Hayatou frowned, 'Damn! That would have been useful…'
[What I can offer in the meantime is a full neural transfer of all taijutsu knowledge you have scanned; which I have also refined on the way here... This will grant you some level of theoretical comprehension for combat engagement, including form application, momentum control, and situational adaptation... However, without live practice, execution will remain reactionary rather than instinctual.]
Hayatou nodded slowly, absorbing the information. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it was still a massive advantage. If he couldn't simulate an opponent, then at the very least, he could try his hand at mentally training himself to understand combat scenarios in a way that went beyond just memorizing moves.
"Alright... do it."
[Acknowledged. Initializing Neural Transfer…]
The moment those words echoed in his mind, a literal wave of information flooded his consciousness.1
