As soon as they arrived at the Yun Family’s house, they saw that the yard was somewhat disorganized.
Yun Shuang let out a sigh. Before, every time she returned home, she would find the house clean and tidy. But since Ahao’s fall, her mother had completely changed.
“Mom, Dad, we’re back.” Yun Shuang shouted loudly. Seeing Ahao silent, she stepped over the cluttered ground.
Upon hearing her elder daughter’s voice, Yun’s mother came out of the room, her words trailing off mid-sentence, “Xiaoshuang, you’re back…” when she saw the man standing next to her eldest daughter.
“Ahao, you’re back. Haven’t Hanhan and the others returned?” She asked, glancing behind Yun Hao, thinking that Meng Yunhan and his son were behind him.
Yun Hao explained with some indifference, “They didn’t come back.”
Such a simple sentence shattered his mother’s expectations, her face falling instantly.
Sensing the awkwardness of the situation, Yun Shuang quickly said, “Hanhan is busy with the supply and marketing cooperative’s egg cakes. The business is doing well, so she didn’t come back today.”
This was something she could not admit.
“Busy making money, I see!” Yun’s mother’s tone contained a hint of regret and sarcasm.
Yun Hao cast a deep glance at his mother, “Mother…” His voice was cold, completely devoid of warmth.
That incident was a lingering obstacle in his heart.
Yun Shuang sighed inwardly, quickly changing the subject, “Mother, where’s Father?”
Yun’s mother shifted her gaze away from Yun Hao onto Yun Shuang’s face, “He went to cut pig grass. I’m feeling a bit unwell.”
Upon hearing her mother’s discomfort, Yun Shuang immediately asked with concern, “Mother, what’s wrong? Do you want to see a doctor?”
Yun’s mother watched Yun Hao’s expression, but there was still no sign of any emotion.
It disappointed her a bit.
“Mother, Mother… Can Mother feel better by looking at Ahao?”
It’s not like Mother didn’t know that Ahao had the same expression all year round.
Yun Hao was aware of their scrutinizing eyes and after a while, suggested, “If you’re unwell, go see a doctor.”
Asking him was pointless. He wasn’t a doctor.

“Mother, let’s go inside, let’s go inside.” The sun was already high in the sky. Standing outside under the sun made them look silly.
Upon hearing her son’s indifferent words, Yun’s mother had tears welling up in her eyes.
Yun Shuang was just about to step inside when she unintendedly saw her mother’s sorrowful face.
She knew that Ahao was always like this. Why pick a quarrel now?
“Mother, let’s go inside.” Yun Shuang gently guided her mother towards the house.
After a few steps, she stopped but did not turn her head back, “Ahao, you should come inside too!”
Yun’s mother, hearing her daughter call Yun Hao, turned back to look at him, too.
Observing Yun Hao briskly walking towards the house, without stopping or looking back, she felt disappointed.
Yun Shuang helped her mother to sit on the chair and poured her a glass of water, “Mother, have some water.” Then turned to ask the emotionless Yun Hao, “Ahao, would you like some water?”
“Sister, I don’t need water. These are the egg cakes Hanhan made for Mother and Father. There are also some other snacks.” Yun Hao finally set down the things in his hands on the table.
Yun Shuang cheerfully said, “Mother, see how caring Hanhan is, even though she isn’t here, she’s thinking of you by sending these cakes.”
Yun’s Mother remembered what Meng Yunhan had said last time, “Ahao, when you woke up, when will you return to the army?” She wanted to say, since you’ve returned to the army, should Hanhan, with her son, come back? But she swallowed her words.
