Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Car Bomb

From the second-floor windows, smoke grenades rained down.

The three-way ambush caught the police off guard, throwing them into disarray.

But the SWAT teams, concealed inside an armored transport, had far superior combat skills compared to regular officers.

As soon as they emerged, they stabilized the situation.

The distinctive burst fire of M4 carbines filled the air.

SWAT's precision shooting quickly took a toll on the gangsters. The criminals had numbers, but they lacked the discipline and accuracy of highly trained officers.

Even when officers were hit, their body armor kept them from immediately going down—unlike the gangsters, who dropped like flies.

Then—

"WHOOSH!"

A second M72 LAW rocket streaked down from the rooftop—

SLAM!

It obliterated the armored truck that had been serving as SWAT's cover.

With multiple officers wounded, the police's firepower took a major hit.

But before the criminals could fully capitalize, reinforcements arrived.

The second SWAT unit, which had been following the convoy from behind, entered the battle.

- The Russian gunmen on the rooftop? Almost wiped out.

- The Asian gang at the rear? Surrounded and eliminated by the newly arrived police teams.

- Only the Mexican cartel at the front was still holding ground.

---

A small group of Mexican gunmen managed to push forward, reaching the armored transport carrying Alex Montel.

They weren't like the cannon fodder that had already died. These men had military experience.

With precise covering fire, they cleared a path to their target.

Through the bulletproof glass, they could see the orange jumpsuit inside.

Their leader, a scar-faced gangster, yanked open the armored truck's door.

"Alex, we're here to get you—"

His voice cut off abruptly.

He froze, his eyes widening.

The inside of the truck was empty—except for a mannequin wearing an orange jumpsuit.

One of his men peeked inside, confused.

"Where the hell is Alex—?"

Before he could finish—

Gunfire erupted.

All around them, their remaining comrades were being gunned down.

Seconds later, they were completely surrounded by over a dozen officers.

Realizing they had been tricked, the last few surviving cartel members dropped their weapons and surrendered.

The entire ambush had failed.

---

Meanwhile, at West Hollywood Precinct…

While the decoy convoy was under attack, two black SUVs quietly escorted two armored transport vehicles out of the precinct's back exit.

That's right—

The real convoy was already on the move.

The FBI had pulled a double bluff—a classic Sun Tzu maneuver.

The first convoy, with its motorcycle escorts, police cars, and aerial support, had been nothing more than bait.

Chief Javier had opposed the idea, arguing it would cost police officers their lives.

But this was bigger than him now.

This was a war between Los Angeles law enforcement and the Montel cartel.

Shortly after leaving, they received word—

The decoy convoy was under heavy attack.

Missiles. RPGs. Dozens of dead officers. A downed helicopter.

But from a strategic perspective?

The plan had worked.

The criminals had fallen for the bait, giving the real convoy a higher chance of success.

---

Owen was behind the wheel of the third vehicle.

Inside were Team A and Alex Montel.

- Team B occupied the second vehicle ahead.

- The two SUVs at the front and rear carried FBI agents.

They drove fast—taking sharp corners without slowing down.

The speed wasn't just for efficiency—

It made them harder to hit.

Their destination remained the same—FBI headquarters—

but they took a less-traveled route to avoid another ambush.

The decoy convoy's ambush had been broadcast on a shared police channel—everyone heard it.

That included Owen.

He felt sick.

He didn't even know how many of his colleagues had just died.

Checking the rearview mirror, his eyes landed on Alex Montel—the man responsible for all of it.

His hands gripped the wheel tighter.

"Eyes on the road," ASH snapped.

She knew exactly what he was thinking.

In the back, Montel smirked.

With a self-righteous tone, he started talking—

"See? That's the power of $100 million. Who doesn't love money? You cops fight and die every day—for what?

Let me make you an offer—release me, and you'll split $100 million.

That's a few million each, at the very least. You'll never make that much in a lifetime.

How much do you even make a year? $100,000? Maybe $200,000?

Think about it—$10 million per person.

You could retire today. Never work another day in your life.

Fast cars. Beautiful women. Private jets. Or… you could just kill the others and keep it all for yourselves.

I mean—"

"Ugh—!"

Montel suddenly doubled over, coughing violently.

Monica had just punched him in the gut.

Sitting in the passenger seat, ASH turned around, gently patting his face.

"Shut your mouth," she said coldly. "Or I'll make sure your $100 million suffers first."

Montel's expression darkened.

His eyes filled with hatred.

"You think you've won?" he sneered.

"I'll kill you. All of you.

And your families.

The Montel family will hunt you down—"

"BAM!"

Another fist to the face.

Monica popped a bubblegum bubble, then cracked her knuckles.

"You might kill me someday.

But I can kill you right now."

She was the quiet type, but dangerous as hell.

Owen was starting to like her more and more.

---

The convoy pressed forward.

ASH maintained radio contact with the lead vehicle.

Everything seemed normal.

They had chosen a narrower route through the old city, reducing the risk of heavy traffic or crowds.

Still—

Owen remained on high alert.

He scanned every rooftop, every street vendor, every parked car.

His paranoia saved them.

As they turned a corner, a parked sedan caught his eye.

At first, it seemed harmless.

- No driver inside.

- No unusual movement.

The lead vehicles passed it without issue.

Then—

Heartbeat noticed something.

From a second-story window, a shadow moved—

And they were holding a weapon.

"AMBUSH!"

Before he could finish shouting—

A black SUV in the opposite lane suddenly swerved sideways, blocking the road.

Doors flew open—

Gunmen in tactical gear jumped out, opening fire.

BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG!

The first two vehicles took heavy hits.

Owen slammed the brakes—

Then reversed hard.

But—

A truck behind them suddenly accelerated, sealing their escape route.

"OUT! PREPARE TO FIGHT!"

ASH barked orders as she kicked open the door.

But just as she stepped out—

"BOOOOM!"

The parked sedan exploded.

A massive fireball engulfed Owen's vehicle, flipping it into the air.

Smoke. Fire. The deafening ring of an explosion.

The real fight had just begun.
