Chapter 146: Situation in Orcus town
Orcus Town used to be an extremely popular hotspot for business. It was a place where a lot of companies competed against each other to get a spot in the wet market visited by thousands of people each day.
They used to consider it a good marker for a company if they were able to retain a center spot in the market without losing any customers.
But because of its proximity to the mountain ranges dividing the Kings and Queens region, they were also subject to a lot of natural disasters such as landslides and earthquakes.
Of course, it took a lot of money and time to renovate and reconstruct any broken establishments in the town—something that not a lot of people thought was worth it.
Eventually, people began to leave the town, with the cracks in the roads and buildings no longer getting repaired each time a disaster struck. This led to a further degradation of the town, which forced more and more people to migrate to other places.
This continued to escalate until the landslide last year finally destroyed their farms and disrupted the clean river they relied on for fresh water.
Because of this, the two Orc tribes living near the town were forced to clash against each other in a bid for the few remaining resources available in the area.
Thankfully, these two Orc tribes didn't use violence against humans or demi-humans in their civil war.
They used a unique approach to settle their fight.
They tried to assert dominance against each other just like how gorillas did it—by banging their chests with pride and shouting at each other until either of them admitted that they were the lesser tribe than the other.
Because of this, no one in town could sleep properly. Aside from being hungry and thirsty, they also had to deal with the problem of having their ears assaulted by shouts and yelling nonstop throughout the night.
Unfortunately, all the posturing that the Orcs did ended up scaring away any potential peddlers that could have brought them food and nourishment.
It came to a point where only knights could solve this problem. They would either force the two Orc tribes to reconcile or force them to migrate to another location.
If worse comes to worst, then Kruger, their fellow Orc and one of the Heavenly Knights as Master of the Way of the Axe, would come and show them that he could shout louder than all of them combined.
"...that's the situation in the town," Yuna explained.
It was impressive how comprehensive Yuna's knowledge was about Orcus Town. She even knew what the Order would do to solve the problem.
I have to stop thinking about her as a K-pop idol, Michael thought to himself.
"Orcus Town looks like the perfect place to start my company in the Queens region…"
Although most people in the Queens region considered Orcus Town as 'not worth it', Michael knew that he could fully bring it to its full potential, just like how he was able to turn the desolate Parched Lands into a paradise for everyone.
Their problem with resources could easily be solved by Michael's automobile. Their problem of deteriorating establishments could be solved with concrete. As for the Orcs, Michael had a plan for them too.
Michael turned to Yuna. "Can you help me? I don't know much about the Queens region, and clearly, you do."
A wide grin formed on Yuna's face. "Of course, I will."
…
…
…
The day after the music festival, the streets of the Nation of Reborn continued to be filled with tourists wanting to explore the paradise in the desert.
They seemed to have fallen in love with everything this nation had to offer. Once they experienced the cool air of the air conditioner, they couldn't seem to go back to a life with just fanning themselves using a giant leaf.
The Rebornians even had to make more inns and hotels to accommodate everyone who wanted to stay in their nation for a longer time.
Not only that, but Reborn Nation also had something to offer that no one else in the world could offer. And that was access to the Dwarven Kingdom.
It didn't take long for people to realize that the strange metal containers connected to each other, which Rebornians called trains, led into the very heart of the Dwarven Kingdom itself!
For a very reasonable 100 gold coins, they could use the train and travel inside the gates of the Dwarven Kingdom, where they could explore and see everything that was closed off to humans for thousands of years.
It was a surreal experience, especially since the Dwarven Kingdom was also connected with electricity. It was like a more exotic part of Reborn Nation.
Biru, the King of the Dwarves, was initially a little bit hesitant after Michael proposed this idea. It was one thing to let humans travel to their kingdom, it was another thing entirely to let them stay inside it for an extended period of time.
However, he couldn't argue against the fact that the amount of gold coins they gained from tourists far outweighed anything they could ever sell or produce.
The Dwarven King finally understood why Michael was so receptive to tourists. It was all because of money!
The dwarves became extremely hospitable to the tourists, especially since the gold coins they earned allowed them to buy more beer and other products from the Nation of Reborn.
"Michael, my friend!"
On the second day, Biru also traveled to the Nation of Reborn to sight-see. Of course, his main objective for this visit was to get more beer for his personal collection, as well as play a little bit of baseball while he was at it.
"It's good to see you," Michael said as he shook hands with the Dwarven King. "I think that it's time for us to implement the highway system we've been talking about."
The Dwarven King gave Michael a weird look. "You said that we weren't ready yet."
But then, he suddenly saw a girl appear from behind Michael.
