Chapter 224: Chapter 224 Do You Still Remember Whose Daughter You Are?

Abigail didn’t believe Brandon would hurt Ruby for her. She lazily yawned, “You don’t believe me, that’s your business.”

“You…” Lincoln Green was at a loss for words.

“It’s getting late, I won’t see you out, Boss Green.” Abigail couldn’t care less about Lincoln’s feelings as she waved her hand and headed back to her room.

Lincoln was furious at her arrogant attitude and remained motionless.

At this moment, Housekeeper Piers, who had been waiting outside, walked in and politely approached Lincoln. “Mr. Green, please.”

Feeling blatantly disrespected and incredibly angry, Lincoln shouted, “Abigail Green, do you even remember whose daughter you are?”

Abigail’s steps suddenly halted. She turned around sharply, glaring coldly at Lincoln.

Lincoln’s entire body stiffened as he stared at his daughter, whose aura had abruptly changed. “Ab… Abigail…”

“Do you remember who your biological daughter is?” Abigail’s voice sounded calm, but it carried an overwhelming pressure, rendering Lincoln speechless.

She was far angrier than Lincoln. Did this old man even realize that her biological daughter had been killed by that mother and daughter tandem, agonizingly dying on the birthing bed, and yet he still protected them?

For a moment, she really wanted to tell Lincoln herself, but reason held her back.

Abigail merely gave Lincoln a contemptuous glance before turning back to her room.

Housekeeper Piers stepped forward again. “Mr. Green, please.”

Lincoln didn’t know how he managed to leave the Piers’ old mansion in such a daze. Abigail’s words kept replaying in his mind like a haunting echo, “Do you remember who your biological daughter is?”

When he returned to the Green residence, for the first time, he didn’t notice the Taylor mother and daughter. In a daze, he went to his room and pulled out an old photo album from under the bed.

It was a vintage design, full of a nostalgic feeling. Lincoln gently stroked it for a moment before carefully opening it. The first photo was of Minnie Swift at the age of twenty-one, still in black and white, but her beauty shone through.

With thick black hair and an exquisitely beautiful face, her soulful eyes were both dark and bright, and her lips held a gentle, soft smile. Her beauty transcended time.

Lincoln had treasured these photos for years. There were many such beautiful photos; the edges of some had turned white from being so frequently touched.

In the early days, he almost needed to hold these photos to sleep every night. Later, when the company encountered problems, he was overwhelmed and struggled since he was not capable enough. All his energy went into dealing with shareholders and trivial issues, so he gradually took the photos out less frequently.

Then Rose Taylor appeared, and his chaotic life was arranged neatly, so he thought of his wife even less.

As for Abigail, he always blamed her for taking his wife’s life upon birth. Thus, he never favored her much since childhood. When Rose Taylor came into their home, bringing the well-behaved, sensible, and outstanding Ruby with her, his attention to Abigail decreased even more.

Today, hearing Abigail’s calm question, “Do you remember who your biological daughter is?” left him momentarily dazed. Indeed, over the years, he seemed to have forgotten his biological daughter. Even today, he went to the Piers’ house to seek justice for his stepdaughter.

He didn’t even notice when his daughter started to lose her way! He only knew how to criticize her…

“Minnie, if you were still alive, Abigail wouldn’t have turned out like this, right?” Lincoln clutched his deceased wife’s photo in his hands, muttering to himself, not realizing that Abigail hadn’t lost her way; it was him. He had been deceived by the Taylor mother and daughter and had become corrupt from years in the business world, losing his true self long ago.

Knock, knock, knock…

Just then, there was a knock on the door from outside.

Lincoln, snapping out of his thoughts, hastily stuffed the album back under the bed. Rose Taylor had already entered, her eyes darkening as they fell on the bed behind Lincoln.
