Chapter 38: Chapter 38: "The Truth Behind the Mask – A Whisper of Alabasta!"
The sun hung high over the vast ocean as the Going Merry cut through the waves, sailing toward its next destination. The salty breeze swept across the deck, but a muffled commotion from the stern disrupted the tranquil atmosphere.
"Oi! Let us go! You bastards won't get away with this!"
Mr. 9 and Miss Wednesday had woken up, their wrists and ankles securely tied with thick ropes. The pair writhed in frustration, their expressions twisted in a mix of anger and disbelief.
"This is a crime against royalty—I mean, agents of Baroque Works!" Miss Wednesday yelled, quickly correcting herself.
"Royalty?" Zoro raised an eyebrow, lazily leaning against the mast with his arms crossed. "That's an oddly specific slip-up."
Usopp adjusted his goggles and huffed. "Yeah, well, it's not like we're the criminals here! You two were the ones trying to kill Laboon!"
"I'd do it again!" Mr. 9 growled. "You don't understand—"
He was abruptly cut off when Sanji casually strolled toward them, his eyes locked onto Miss Wednesday with his signature heart-filled gaze.
"Oh, mademoiselle~!" Sanji cooed, dramatically kneeling before her bound form. "Such beauty should never be restrained by such crude bindings! Allow me to grant you freedom, fair princess!"
Miss Wednesday blinked. "H-Huh? I—"
Nami smacked Sanji on the back of his head. "Idiot! She literally tried to kill Laboon!"
"But Nami-swan," Sanji whined, rubbing his head. "Such a delicate lady must have had her reasons! Besides, look at those enchanting blue eyes—"
"I swear, if you untie her—" Nami threatened, her voice laced with warning.
Luffy, who had been watching the exchange with mild amusement, nodded. "Go ahead, Sanji."
Sanji's eyes sparkled. "Ah! Thank you, Captain!"
Ignoring Nami's glare, Sanji expertly untied Miss Wednesday, who flexed her wrists and rolled her shoulders. The moment she was free, she glanced at Luffy, who was now standing next to Nami.
"So, what's our next destination?" Luffy asked, tilting his head toward his navigator.
Nami sighed, rubbing her temples. "We're heading to Whiskey Peak. I got this Eternal Pose from these two." She lifted a small glass device containing a floating needle, which was locked in one unwavering direction.
Luffy grinned. "Alright then! Let's go there!"
As he spoke, he suddenly vanished in an instant—
Miss Wednesday barely had time to react before Luffy's presence was right behind her.
A shiver ran down her spine as she felt his warm breath near her ear.
In a low, quiet whisper, he spoke:
"Princess Nefertari Vivi… if you want to save your kingdom and get rid of Crocodile… then I can help you."
Miss Wednesday's eyes widened in pure shock.
Her body went rigid, her breath caught in her throat.
'How does he… know my real name?!'
Before she could turn around, Luffy had already walked away, heading toward the kitchen with his hands casually stuffed into his pockets.
Miss Wednesday—no, Vivi—stared at his retreating figure, her mind racing with a thousand questions.
Who exactly was Monkey D. Luffy… and how did he know the truth?
As the waves carried them forward, the mystery deepened.
