Chapter 1346: Unfulfilled Dreams
-----
After the defeat of the Nightmare of Stress and Responsibility, the girls decided to resume their journey across the endless lush forests. While the Snowmen and the Snowdragon remained with them, walking by their side like guardians born from their own Imagination and Love as children.
It was a bit weird for Nyx, but for Francis it was completely fine, she was just happy that the Snowman ended up becoming her father, and that she said the Snowman promised he would never leave her again.
Nyx had somewhat guessed what they were, that perhaps they weren't truly the souls of their parents. After all, she knew that her mother's soul passed away in the afterlife after her father and Maria freed her from the Dungeon.
Therefore, what she believed was that they manifestations of Dreams, Pure Dreams, given form and shape through imagination and innocence. Embodiments of childhood and love, of loved ones and of beloved memories, moments, and times.
The Snowman and the Snowdragon were the same thing that happened to Sofia, things that her mother had told her that happened back in Sofia's Dream Realm, where her parents had manifested out of nowhere, initially they seemed to be Nightmares born from her Traumas, but they were "purified" becoming something different, something that loved her and just wanted her happiness.
It was strange, since she got here that Nightmares were introduced as these antagonistic beings, monsters that should be eliminated on sight, but the more she experienced this world, the more Nyx realized the breach between Dream Warriors and Nightmares closed.
Dream Weapons themselves, what Dream Essence truly was, and what Nightmares, Nightmare Demons, and Nightmare Realms were… It seemed more connected than ever before.
Perhaps Dream Weapons were truly something like a purified version of a Nightmare, a Dream, a Story, something that made many people dream about, taken a physical form…
When Nightmares are purified, what is born from them but the purest, most innocent dreams?
Therefore, what she and Francis might have created was a "reaction" to their own dreams.
"My own dream of wanting to meet my other mom…" Nyx thought. "And Francis' dream of wanting to meet her dad… Is this what was born from them? Maybe… like Sofia's, they would be Dream Spirits?"
Nyx sighed, as she rode the back of her Snowdragon mom, which carefully carried her across the skies, it seemed to be more than capable of doing that, while also carrying Francis and her "dad".
"Hey dad, so where were you this whole time?" Wondered Francis.
"…"
The Snowman couldn't speak, it only glanced at Francis in silence.
"I guess you can't talk yet…" She sighed. "Were you looking for food?"
"…"
"Maybe cigars?"
"…"
"Um, milk!"
"…"
"What could it had been?"
"…"
The Snowman slightly patted her head, with more love than Nyx imagined.
"Francis…"
Nyx sighed internally, she couldn't quite call the Snowman "fake" either, because she believed it wasn't. Yeah, it might have been born from her Memories and Dreams, but isn't that enough to warrant its existence?
Just like how people that pass way still lives within our memory, it could be said that a being born from the memories of those we loved, could as well be the real thing… or perhaps something close to it, the closest it could be.
Nyx seemed more mature than Francis mentally, perhaps due to her being a Dragon, but ultimately she was still a child, with innocence, dreams, and a lot of hope, a lot of it taught to her by her mother and her father, who wanted her to grow up like a happy and loved child.
But she realized, as she heard Francis talk about her life, just how lucky she was. Not everyone had the things she had, a big family that loved her, or the things she enjoyed, delicious food, great friends, and so on.
She was never hated when she grew up, was never bullied by other kids either, or she was overall very bright, this coupled with her great strength made her someone… very fortunate.
All such things that Francis never experienced.
"Francis, I'll be your friend forever! Alright?" Nyx smiled, patting Francis shoulders out of nowhere.
"Huh? Really?!" Francis was surprised, smiling happily.
"Yep!" Nyx nodded.
"But… this is a Dream, isn't it?" Francis sighed. "So when I wake up, you'll be gone, right?"
"It's not a dream like you think," Nyx said. "It's a Dream Realm but I am real and physical, for real! So once this Dream Realm is destroyed or something, we'll be back to the normal world together."
"Y-You're really for real? But how? Magic and dragons don't exist!" Francis said. "Mom always said that to me when I watched cartoons…"
"Then your mom was not well informed! Dragons and other creatures exist everywhere!" Nyx got a bit grumpy after hearing that. "Hmph, how could we be not real? That's a weird thing to say! A-Ah, right…"
Nyx quickly recalled that in this world she wasn't supposed to say she was a dragon…
But well, it wasn't as if she was being punished or something, and Francis was her new friend, so it wasn't that bad.
"But would you keep that I am a dragon a secret, Francis?"
"Eh? Sure!"
"Thanks!"
Nyx hugged Francis, kissing her little nose.
"Are you feeling happier?"
"Yeah! I think this has been awesome so far! I-I've never been happier, actually… Haha."
"I'm glad…"
Nyx patted her little head and sighed, looking into the distance, and sensing a lifeform far down below.
"Hm, Snowdragon, please descend! I think there's someone down there… Some sort of lifeforce I can sense."
"Rooaarrr!"
The Snowdragon nodded, rushing down as it moved its wings rapidly, descending and reaching the floor with dexterity.
BAAAM!
As it landed on the floor, snow and ice shards were left behind, the girls quickly jumped down, Nyx grabbed Francis and carried her in her arms though, as the little girl was unable to jump from so high.
"So where is it, Nyx?" Francis wondered, walking around the grass.
"Over there I think…" Nyx said, pointing into the distance. "There's a bunch of big trees over there, probably around there…"
The girls walked forward, with their Snow-made guardians accompanying them.
Completely unaware of the Demonic Eye glancing at them from afar.
