Chapter 1335: A Gloomy Girl
-----
It was the first time both girls were able to touch something else that wasn't the weird, cold white floor of the White Landscape, as Nyx called it. It seemed that following the Nightmare Miasma River was the right thing to do, as it led them directly to this new, much more beautiful and "natural" area.
The first thing they saw was grass, beautiful green grass, not too long, just long enough to seem slightly untamed, but nice enough to step on, fresh and cold, the smell of grass and humid dirt quickly filled their nostrils, making it feel refreshing, compared to the weird hospital smell that the White Landscape had.
The sky was blue, and there were a lot of huge trees scattered around, it seemed to be a forest, but the trees weren't really too close to one another, leaving a lot of open space between them where grass and flowers grew, of all shapes and sizes.
There were also small hills, a valley, and even a prairie in the distance, it looked like some beautiful Nordic landscape from some Mediterranean European Country, as the girls even noticed big mountains into the distance, with snow on top, creating an overwhelming sense of adventure into their young little hearts.
"Wooow! This place's big!" Nyx said. "Are we in some kind of huge forest place? No wait there's mountains and stuff! It's so pretty! So much nature! I kind of missed this…"
"M-Me too…" Francis nodded. "I'm surprised… It's as if we were in some sort of country in Europe! Maybe like in the Lord of the Rings movies, where they said they filmed them in… Uh, where was it? Zealand!"
"Yeah that!" Nyx nodded, both girls not having much of a clue anyways. "Let's go! I sense some life in here. Someone's over there."
"Really? Where!" Francis asked.
"Follow me!" Nyx said. "Phantom Dragons, guard this area and tell me if you see something weird!"
As Nyx and Francis moved forward, they ran across the forest, feeling the wind, and relaxing a little bit, deciding to walk quick rather than run.
"It's nice in here, the air is so refreshing…" Francis sighed in relief.
"Yeah…" Nyx nodded, looking into the skies.
"Are we close yet?" Francis asked.
"A bit, over there… it still kind of far away, it'll be a bit of a long trip," Nyx said.
"Oh…" muttered Francis. "Well, let's go then."
"Yeah…" Nyx nodded.
As they walked, Nyx began to remember what had happened with Francis, and how the girl felt about everything… and herself.
She had never felt like Francis did, she was never bullied either, so it all felt really new to her, she had friends that went through bad experiences too but…
Nothing quite like little Francis, who seemed to have never really…
Well, overcome them, maybe because she was like four years old right now.
"Um, Francis, about what we talked earlier…" Nyx muttered, fidgeting with her tail.
"Hm?" Francis wondered, looking a bit tired of walking through large slopes.
"I'm so sorry… I didn't want to make you remember those things, or what people said about you…" said Nyx. "Do you hate me?"
"E-Eh? No… I don't hate you Nyx," said Francis. "I couldn't ever hate you… You're probably the first kid my age that doesn't treat me coldly…"
"R-Really? You've never ever met a nice kid before?!" Nyx wondered.
"No…" Francis said. "Well, sometimes… Sometimes someone tried but… Well, they would end up laughing at me at the end."
"Hmm…" Nyx looked at Francis, suddenly holding her little hand. "Well, I'll be your friend, Francis! How about that?"
"My friend?" Francis wondered. "But… we've just met. Are you sure? Maybe you'll laugh at me too later, and then you'll think that you could never be the friend of the dumb stupid girl…"
"I-I would never say such a thing! Geez!" Nyx got a bit grumpy again. "I'm a good girl! Mama always says so! She raised me well with papa!"
"Ooh…" Francis heard Nyx words and giggled a bit. "Heheh, okay… I guess you convinced me!"
"Really? Nice! We're friends now! Yaaaay!" Nyx jumped happily, raising her arm with Francis. "Best friends forever!"
"Uwaah! Wait a bit Nyx, you're going to pull my arm off! You're so strong?!" Francis panicked.
"S-Sorry! Sorry!" Nyx quickly pulled her hand back. "I'm… kind of strong, yeah. Sorry…"
Nyx sighed, looking a bit sad about that.
Indeed, although she often didn't express it, her incredible strength was a bit of a problem.
Sometimes she would break things accidentally.
One day she even ended up hitting the pillar of a house and made it crumble down.
Her strength can endanger a lot of people too, without taking care of using it well.
"A-Are you okay? Nothing hurt?" Nyx wondered.
"I'm fine…" Francis said. "But you're very strong, Nyx… Is it because you're a dragon? Hehe, this is the first time I ever met a dragon! I always thought they were intimidating, but you're a cute girl!"
"A-Ah… Well, when we transform into our true forms, we get very scary! Raarr!" Nyx nodded.
"You can transform?!" asked Francis. "Wooow! Like a big, big dragon?!"
"Yep!" Nyx nodded. "Okay let me show you!"
Nyx flew into the blue skies, suddenly unleashing an explosion of black lightning, turning into a giant dragon!
RUMBLE!
"Whaaaat?! No way!"
Francis gasped in disbelief, seeing a massive, black-scaled dragon appear in place of Nyx, the dragon had a majestic and slender, long body, with silky silvery-white hair growing from her head and neck, and red and blue eyes.
Nyx slowly descended in front of Francis, leaving her utterly flabbergasted by what she was seeing! All her life she had dreamed of seeing real dragons or other fairy tale creatures, it was incredible for her.
"I-I can't believe it! They aren't like the ghosts you summoned before, you're a true, big, real dragon!" Francis gasped.
"Hehehe! Yeah! I'm pretty amazing!" Nyx nodded, crossing her giant arms, her voice rumbling through the mountains.
"Can I ride you? Please? Pretty pleaseeeee!" Francis asked, almost begging.
"Heh! Ok! But only because we're friends!" Nyx nodded, lowering her head and letting Francis climb.
"Careful not to fall…" Nyx said, using her shadows to wrap Francis around safely. "There!"
FLUOSH!
Nyx quickly took off into the skies, as Francis saw the blue sky, and the beautiful white clouds, the world below looked so small, and so beautiful.
"Hahaha… We're flying so high!"
Nyx felt happy that the gloomy girl was finally laughing and smiling a little bit more.
