Chapter 9: REBIRT IN NARUTO WORLD 009

---

"Thank you for the opportunity. First of all, I have some bad news to share. The prisoner died this morning due to a cursed seal that activated upon waking. However, we managed to extract valuable information, both related and unrelated to the incident."

He took a deep breath and pulled a note seemingly out of nowhere.

"The suspect did not receive direct orders from the Raikage but rather from one of the Kumogakure elders. We have sent a detailed report of our investigation. Please review it."

After a brief silence, Hiruzen sighed and turned to the elders.

"Very well. Now, we have a clearer picture of the situation. Begin discussions with Kumo regarding their delegate's actions. This prosecution should lead to a rather interesting trial."

Gradually, confidence grew among them. They were convinced they had a strong case against Kumo this time.

"Alright then, we shall now hear the testimony of our village's greatest asset—the high-achieving child who successfully thwarted the kidnapping."

Something felt off, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was. Pushing the thought aside for now, I rose from my seat beside Hiruzen and stepped into the center of the elders, who sat in a circle around me.

"Describe exactly how the kidnapping unfolded. And how did you come to be at the scene?" an elder from the Hyuga Clan inquired.

"As stated in last night's report, I had opened my bedroom window due to the temperature…" I proceeded to recount the events—how I discovered the intruder's presence and what followed. Of course, there were some details I couldn't reveal.

"Was there anyone else present besides you?" the elder continued.

I paused briefly. "No, it was just the two of us."

"Continue. How did you stop the kidnapper?"

"I used Hakke Hasangeki to attack him from a distance, but he managed to survive. He employed a strange technique, coating his entire body with lightning chakra. His main weapon, a spear, was infused with wind-elemental chakra."

"Oh… interesting. Please continue," the Third Hokage said, rubbing his chin.

"Since his strength and speed surpassed mine, I targeted his legs."

"Why did you choose to attack his legs?" interrupted an elder with three red tomoe in his eyes. An Uchiha, no doubt. Seeing a real Sharingan up close was far more intimidating than the Byakugan.

"To disrupt his speed and immobilize him. To ensure this, I used a modified Hakke Hyaku Nijūhasshō to seal his chakra points. The rest, as you know, is in the report."

Then, I decided to drop some information about the future.

"Ah, I almost forgot something. I'm not sure if it's important, but the intruder mentioned a past mission where he was tasked with killing an immortal serpent demon. During the mission, he was bitten and received a cursed seal that continuously absorbs negative natural energy."

"Kumo's delegation?" Hiruzen muttered.

"This creature has been forcibly reincarnated numerous times. If I recall correctly, its name was Orochi… Orochi…" I tilted my head as if deep in thought.

"Orochimaru?" one of the female elders interjected.

I believed she was one of Hiruzen's advisors. But I needed to find out her name.

At the mere mention of the name, the room tensed. Panic filled the air, while Hiruzen simply sighed, looking troubled.

"This discussion is over," he finally declared. "Hiashi, Hizashi, we need to have a serious talk later. Meeting adjourned!"

With that, Hiruzen dismissed the meeting and disappeared from the room, clearly disturbed by the mention of his former student's name.

By the time the grueling meeting concluded, dusk had already settled. Konoha had secured valuable intelligence from Kumogakure. It would be even better if we obtained the Raiton no Yoroi jutsu.

No, I shouldn't get ahead of myself. The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. For now, let's see what we gained from this Kumo ninja.

The quest log was empty.

Enough of this for now—I was hungry. After eating, my father arrived home.

"Neji, I spoke with the clan elders. You will not be punished for breaking curfew. However, from now on, you must train every morning with Hiashi-sama and Hinata-sama. It is a great honor."

A great honor? More like a way to keep me under close watch.

Still, at least they weren't actively trying to suppress me.

"I understand, Father."

The Next Morning

I arrived at the main house dojo. Hiashi was already there with Hinata and an older man—most likely their grandfather. I wore my usual black training attire, with hidden weights underneath. Maybe I should buy a gravity seal from the shop. These weights were becoming uncomfortable.

Hiashi crossed his arms and addressed us.

"First, begin with a warm-up. Push-ups, sit-ups, and kata. Then, we will practice the Gentle Fist."

"Understood," Hinata and I responded in unison.

For half an hour, we followed his orders. It was easy for me, but Hinata, lacking stamina, was visibly exhausted.

"Hinata, you have yet to master the Gentle Fist. From now on, you will train with Neji until you do. Now, the two of you will spar."

"Yes, Father," Hinata replied hesitantly.

As expected, she struggled. I dodged or blocked her attacks, giving her pointers along the way. An hour later, Hiashi had us switch roles. I attacked, while she defended—poorly. She was too exhausted to react properly, even though I wasn't using my full strength.

After another half-hour, Hiashi dismissed us, casting a disappointed glance at Hinata before leaving.

"Good. You've improved in some areas," I told her.

"Really? But… I'm still so weak… I let Father down again…"

"Don't worry. If you keep practicing, you'll become strong," I assured her with a small smile.

She blushed and hesitated before speaking.

"Neji-nii-san… my mother wants to thank you for saving me. She invited you for lunch tomorrow."

Hinata's mother was kind. I had to do something to save her…
