Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 93: Very Successful Purification And A Warm Welcome

Purify... purify... let's see... Rael trailed off as he imagined the same scorching flames as before, but added the sub-element of light.

Of course, he thought he did, but when he hit the red string with his rapier, a dull sound rang out, followed by a note that resembled raging green flames shooting toward one of the Night Pounders.

And of course, it soon hit.

-65,553,808! Instant Kill! (1x Crystal Violin Blade)

<Night Pounder [Level 208] Killed! Experience: Null>

<+30,244 Trell Acquired>

<+54 Strength>

<+22 Agility>

<+77 Constitution>

<+9 Intelligence>

<+10 Wisdom>

<Resonant Duelist: +1,000 Experience>

That wasn't it... all I did was change the color of the flame, Rael thought with a sigh, dismissing all the annoying pop-ups.

Sure, he had killed the monster, but what he was really going for was an attack that would purify it without doing damage.

Ideally...

After all, he had a sneaking suspicion that these monsters were simply people who had reached the final stages of the Hollow Touch ailment.

Nonetheless, Rael was about to try again with a slightly different method, but before he could, Seryn spoke up.

"I'm not sure what you did just then. However, why not make the attack similar to my lightning?"

"What are you on about?" Rael asked, his brows furrowed.

Seryn shrugged. "You have some degree of control over that attack, right? So why not make it chain between the monsters?"

"Hmm..." Rael fell into thought, and after just a few seconds, nodded.

That could work...

However, combining fire, chain lightning, and purification seemed to be something he couldn't do at his current level.

But...

It doesn't hurt to try.

Therefore, Rael focused, while at the same time dodging an incoming mosquito before slapping it over the head with the hilt of his rapier, making its body explode into bits.

"Boop."

<+21,579 Trell Acquired>

<+27 Strength>

<+14 Agility>

<+52 Constitution>

<+18 Intelligence>

<+18 Wisdom>

Immediately, Rael turned to the rest of the mosquitoes and Night Pounders before swiftly tapping the red string.

He had imagined a weak fire, which had the properties of purifying and the arcing of lightning. However...

<Warning: The Red String is not meant for purification, only attacking. Prolonged attempts will permanently damage this weapon's future potential.>

Rael snapped out of the visualization and sent out a sloppy attack, which he didn't even bother to control, making it fly up into the sky and disperse.

God fucking damn it... I knew there was something like that, Rael thought with a grumble.

The Green String on the old man's Violin Blade had healed, so technically, if he were to combine the red and green strings, he could produce a purifying attack.

Of course, he only had a single string currently, the Red string, plus a potential black string stashed away in his inventory for later.

If only there was one string which could do it all... Though maybe there is, but I still wouldn't be strong enough to wield it properly.

With those thoughts, he decided to change his approach.

If he couldn't purify them without fucking up his weapon, then he wouldn't purify them at all.

Therefore, Rael took a deep breath and went back to the basics before sending out a low note.

However, that note soon expanded, turning into a massive flaming soundwave that resembled an actual tidal wave.

And before the monsters even knew what hit them, the wave swept through their bodies, making them contort as fire began melting them down at a rapid pace.

Not even a second later, all the remaining mosquitoes and Night Pounders were burnt to a crisp, leaving nothing but stats and money.

<+2,970 Strength>

<+1,354 Agility>

<+4,883 Constitution>

<+1,143 Intelligence>

<+1,174 Wisdom>

<Resonant Duelist: +1,000 Experience>

It was a pity Resonant Duelist only gave him experience per note, else he would've leveled it up a bunch.

Aside from that, the monsters were dead now, with Rael putting in barely any effort.

"That was impressive," Seryn remarked, turning to the obelisk. "Are you going to do it again?"

"Yep." Rael nodded, storing his Violin Blade and heading toward the bonfire.

It took him only a few minutes to spot the torch, which had been hidden behind the obelisk, so he swiftly picked it up and tossed it into the bonfire.

He clicked through the same old pop-ups until, finally...

<Monument Detected: Gravefire Ritual - Inactive → Active>

<Total Monuments Lit: 4/10>

<Flame will remain until all Monuments are lit.>

<Received: 1 Ember>

The Ember descended from the obelisk, and Rael immediately began munching on it, finding the flavor more delicious than last time.

But sadly, despite it being tastier, the stats it gave were lower.

<Ember of Life Consumed!>

<+2,500 Strength>

<+2,500 Agility>

<+7,000 Constitution>

<+3,500 Intelligence>

<+3,500 Wisdom>

Still not bad though, Rael nodded to himself as he prepared for the Beast to arrive.

However, even after several seconds—which had turned to minutes—nothing happened.

Did it get bored...?

"Guess you're fine for now. Let's head straight to Karnyx," Rael said as he took out his car again.

"I see, okay," Seryn replied, quickly getting in the back.

Rael soon entered as well and began speeding toward the city on autopilot.

In the meantime, he wanted to figure something out.

"What is the name of your fiancée, if you don't mind sharing?"

Seryn tilted his head. "Haiyan. Why?"

"No reason..." Rael trailed off. "What does she look like?"

"Beautiful," Seryn stated flatly, his brows starting to furrow. "Don't get any funny ideas."

Rael sighed. "Dude, I told you I have a wife. Aside from that, think about her features, her voice, and all that stuff in the next monument we visit, alright?"

"Sure," Seryn nodded before pointing forward.

Rael flicked his head back, scared of falling off a cliff again.

But instead of that, several shabby skyscrapers entered his sight.

They weren't advanced by any means, as he couldn't spot even a hint of technology. However, the fact that they were able to make such towers from wood and stone was pretty impressive.

On top of them, he spotted several scouts holding bows, which were aimed toward the car.

They're not going to...? Right? Rael tried to convince himself, but soon, they let go of their bowstrings, sending a barrage of arrows flying toward the car.

You've got to be fucking kidding me.
