Chapter 544 She finds out
544 She finds out
This world has two main sections where snow falls frequently. One of those sections is Richter's Kingdom, whose location is the closest area of the ability once released by Matthew, The Frozen Infinity.
On the other hand, the area opposite the Frozen Infinity, the south, is also an area where snow falls very frequently, somehow, but only centered in one place, something called The Devoured Mountains.
They get the name because they are part of the Devourer territories and because, in times past, they were a part of the vampire territory that was completely conquered by the offensives of the Devourers and their allies.
For those in the know, which are very few, this little story is false; the vampires did not lose an area of their territory from millions of years ago; traitors actually surrendered the whole area to the devourers.
This being a place where the devourers are rampant from one side to the other, it is naturally dangerous, and very few people dare to go near it.
But, this place, among the devourers, is well known also as the Hunting Ground of Cecily Edevane, one of the most dangerous women of the Vampire Race.
"Damn, woman, what the hell do you want to do this time? Last time, you stole our treasure! Do you think you can leave so easily now that you came to turn yourself in?" A devourer's scream echoed in this huge mountain, where snow fell every season of the year.
That scream came, followed by a roar of many armed and powerful men, who rushed upon a small but handsome figure that was wrapped in blood in the middle of this place.
Her long red hair looked like a bloodstain in the place's whiteness, but her attractive face was like the most beautiful pearl, which looked like it was going to be swallowed by a huge slime: the devourers.
She did not look at all worried. The people here were powerful, but it was her food that would help her become stronger.
'Since there is a Dietrich, it is not to my liking to show myself so weak in front of him. My abilities come from your blood, but can you stand up to them?' She smiled coldly and moved at absurd zigzag speeds.
As the sword in her hand pierced the necks of her adversaries and blood gushed from those wounds, the devourers' bodies seemed to be devoured by an invisible force, turning everything into blood and bathing Cecily in strange ways.
Although her body was slow to process blood, which was her only flaw, all that blood eventually entered her body and became her strength, power, and stamina.
'A bloodbath of this gruesome blood is always so annoying, but... The little human bastards have been quiet lately, and that woman seems to have started working. Looks like I have to make do with these guys.' She sighed. When her sigh ended, it was because all of her opponents were headless on the ground.
'Not strong at all.' She looked up to see beyond, into the real territory of the devourers.
'The Gates of those guys have also been inactive recently. What a strange calm.'
She frequented this place before when she was weak. Normally, this place would have more powerful people and even some unwanted observers. But there seemed to be nothing today, and it's been like this for over two weeks.
'I wonder how things are going in the Dark Kingdom. They should have sworn that kid in by now.'
As she thought, she frowned and turned around as she sensed a presence approaching at high speeds.
This presence was of a male informant who belonged to her territory.
"What are you doing here?"
The man stopped before her and gave her a quick nod.
"Miss, we have a serious problem; Mr. Paul is dead!" He exclaimed, looking exhausted but incredibly frightened.
His revelation made Cecily's body visibly shudder as a surge of rage burst from her heart...
...
Several days had passed since Matthew Dietrich was consecrated Lord of the Kingdom. The news had the world reeling, but the denizens of the Dark Kingdom were celebrating.
Many of them had begun to greatly respect that young man who stood out over the City of Clans and chased away the traitors, which made them happy now. Besides, Matthew knew how to win people's appreciation; he had been learning and reading a lot lately about it, so he made a few reforms from the moment he took that position and also gave a few days off to all the inhabitants of the kingdom.
That unleashed waves of celebrations in Matthew's favor, but these days, he spent quietly at his place of residence.
Since he hasn't needed much sleep lately, he sleeps only about 2 to 4 hours to avoid overloading his brain. The rest of the time, he spends training and helping his girls.
This also includes Ava in her management of the mobs and Paul in his work as a blacksmith, so he took advantage of the time to develop a new shape for the weapon he wanted to build.
Now, he was surprised to see that Ava had achieved the First Level of Control, even before Isla, so he focused on helping her with more fervor and discovered the reasons, which were not at all surprising but left Ava well off.
She had always been training in controlling her aura, being an innate assassin, daughter of assassins. Naturally, so many years of practice made her a head start; Matthew didn't expect that even Isla couldn't keep up with her in that aspect. It was due to Ava's ability to understand, perhaps because she had been into so much trickery during her life, that she learned to understand things faster to avoid death, but this was all a good thing for her.
While all was quiet, other shocking news echoed through the world.
Cecily Edevane had fought against her father and her entire clan, which caused a part of the Edevane Clan base to be in ruins. No one knew the reasons, but there were rumors that Egon Edevane killed someone important to Cecily, which triggered her anger.
After the battle, Cecily Edevane managed to escape, but her whereabouts are unknown. At the same time, Cecily's territory had erected defenses to prevent an attack by Egon.
This news echoed throughout the world, causing many to be stunned.
