Chapter 236: Return To The Alabaster Hotel
After saying that, Bai Shishi approached the slime. Simultaneously, he stretched out his hand, summoning a metal cage on his palm.
'I can't believe this useless thing that I almost forgot I still had stored away deep in my Spatial Ring would come in handy one day.'
Slime Entrapment Cage… that was its name according to the Beast Tamer he had once robbed and killed.
The old man was naive and more than a little bit of a lunatic. He actually believed slimes held insurmountable potential.
Slimes were the lowest of the lowest. They were one of the bottom feeders in the Magical Beast Kingdom.
So how could they possess so-called insurmountable potential? And if they did have insurmountable potential, why were they at the bottom and not at the top of the food chain, or at least at the top of the Magical Beast kingdom?
Recalling the unpleasant encounter, Bai Shishi snorted.
'Whatever. Who cares what that old coot thought? Because of him, I can please Master. What's more, with this slime, I can make a good impression on Mistress Lily.'
Once Bai Shishi was close enough to the trembling slime, he channeled his Mana into the Slime Entrapment Cage. Along the metallic bars, Runic Symbols flickered to life, and quickly, the cage expanded in size. A powerful suction force pressed down on the slime, making it tremble even more in fright.
Hastily, the surface of the Ever-Changing Phantom Slime glowed gray, and in a matter of seconds, its size expanded and elongated, growing to many times its original size. Two horns sprouted from its shifting form — one jagged and long, the other stunted and sharp. Four thick and sturdy legs took shape, each ending with a claw that dug into the dirt. Lastly, a spiked tail whipped behind it.
Pei Buhan swallowed.
"Is that a Metal Hide Rhino?"
Lucius answered, "That's right. But the slime's attempt is useless."
Hearing this, Pei Buhan's brows furrowed.
"What do you mean?"
In response, he was met with a disdainful chuckle from Bai Shishi. He was not showing disdain towards the old man, but rather at the Ever-Changing Phantom Slime's pathetic final struggle.
"So what if you can become bigger? Even if you were as big as a Dragon, as long as you're a Slime, you can't escape the Slime Entrapment Cage."
As if the cage was waiting for that exact moment, from within the cage, a white light in the shape of a net shot out toward the fake Metal Hide Rhino.
The speed at which it shot out was so fast that before anyone could blink, the net had already entrapped the fake Metal Hide Rhino.
Like a hunter flaunting its catch, the net was slowly pulled into the cage.
Simultaneously, the fake Metal Hide Rhino's form began to contort, and soon, it dissolved back into the quivering, white Slime.
The Runic Symbols glowed once more, and the cage shrank to the size of Bai Shishi's palm.
Pei Buhan was in awe.
"The poor Slime never had a chance."
"Of course, it didn't have a chance. I gave Master my word that I would bring back an unharmed Ever-Changing Phantom Slime." Bai Shishi lifted the cage up to his eyes and glanced at the trembling slime within. Excitement flickered in his eyes.
He then continued, "Let's go. Master and Mistress Lily are waiting for us. Don't make them wait longer than necessary."
With that, the group of four jumped onto the perch and sat down. None of them even glanced at the interior of the carriage, since it was silently agreed upon that it was their Master's personal abode.
The journey back to Alabaster City took an even shorter amount of time than reaching the Spirit Waterfall. The main reason was that Pei Buhan had a decent memory and had memorized the route. That allowed him to navigate the route back at full speed, never once allowing his trusty steed to slow down until the city walls of Alabaster came into view.
It was then, as they were entering the city, Bai Shishi once again showed off his influence as the two guards, who had charged Lucian, Pei Buhan, Lucius, and Luke a Low-Grade Mana Stone each, bowed their heads, gave them the Mana Stones back with apologetic smiles, and allowed them entry into the city.
Pei Buhan was all smiles as he guided the horse toward the Alabaster Hotel. Even though the Mana Stones were not his, he had always disliked those two black-hearted guards and their sneering, arrogant attitudes. Now that he had seen them groveling, he felt light and refreshed.
It was not only him, as Lucius and Luke felt the same.
After reaching Alabaster Hotel, they disembarked the carriage, and a young man in a dark red suit came forward with a bright smile.
He bowed to them.
"Esteemed Guests, would you like for me to park your carriage?"
Since the carriage was Pei Buhan's, the other three silently looked at him for his opinion.
Pei Buhan, on the other hand, nodded his head.
"Do what you did last time." He glanced at his horse, and seeing its tired expression, he continued, "Also, give my friend hay and plenty of water."
"As you wish, Esteemed Guest." The young man bowed low and climbed up to the perch.
For a few moments, Pei Buhan watched as the carriage departed to the back of the hotel, where the other carriages and pens were.
Only after he could no longer see his carriage, did he nod to the rest, silently telling them they could now enter the hotel.
Inside the grand suite, Lucian, who had been woken up less than a minute ago, looked intently at the Ever-Changing Phantom Slime trapped within a cage.
The Slime trembled under his intense scrutiny —a normal reaction given its condition. Discover exclusive tales on My Virtual Library Empire
"Master… is the Ever-Changing Phantom Slime to your satisfaction?" Bai Shishi was the first to speak, taking the lead in the conversation.
