Chapter 6: Chapter 6 — Charizard: You're Making Me Look Stupid
"Uh... let me explain it to you simply."
Sun Wuming stroked his chin and spoke slowly:
"What we call 'Haki' is a latent power that both humans and Pokémon possess..."
As he said this, Sun Wuming hesitated slightly.
Well, even though this isn't the One Piece world, it should exist here too.
Otherwise, this would be really embarrassing.
In less than half a second, his expression returned to normal, and Sun Wuming continued:
"It's no different from the many innate senses that living beings are born with, like 'movement,' 'presence,' 'intimidation' - these things all exist, but being able to control them freely is quite difficult, right?"
Listening to Sun Wuming's explanation, the onlookers Leon and Lusamine unconsciously tensed up.
How to put it?
Although they still didn't quite understand, it seemed impressive somehow.
As for the fangirl Marnie, whether she understood or not, she just kept nodding anyway.
The bear disciple also stood on the other side, nodding while occasionally making adorable "aya-ya" sounds.
That's how true fanatics should behave.
"However, the vast majority of living beings never become aware of this power, and can never manifest it throughout their lives."
Then, Sun Wuming changed his tone and said:
"But explaining with words isn't my strong suit, so let me demonstrate for you first."
Saying this, Sun Wuming beckoned to Leon.
"Leon, bring out your Pokémon for us to use."
Leon was startled at these words, but after hesitating for two seconds, he lightly tossed out a Poké Ball, calling forth his ace Pokémon, Charizard.
Sun Wuming's expression became somewhat complicated.
How to put it?
Charizard was one of his favorite Pokémon when he watched the anime as a child.
After all, Ash's Charizard had left a deep impression on his childhood.
Though it was very disobedient early on, to the point of giving viewers high blood pressure.
But the more unreliable it was early on, the more fans it gained later.
Though it had its losses, they were mostly honorable defeats.
Unlike Pikachu who had fought legendary Pokémon, yet would still get thrashed by rookie trainers with their starter Pokémon in each new region.
However, what made Sun Wuming drop the series was also because of Charizard.
Alan's Water-storing Charizard was just too disgusting.
Damn, taking a water-type super move and actually healing from it?
Sun Wuming turned slightly, with his back to Leon's Charizard, and said:
"Charizard, attack me with whatever move you want."
"Wroar?"
A question mark appeared above Charizard's head as it turned to look at its trainer Leon.
This was the first time in its life it had heard such a request.
Leon was also briefly stunned, but still followed Sun Wuming's wishes and nodded to Charizard.
After all, this man had once punched his Charizard flying.
However, while Marnie and Leon had witnessed a glimpse of Sun Wuming's strength.
Lusamine had no idea!
When she heard Sun Wuming's words, she doubted for the second time whether this man was mentally ill.
Wanting to take on a Champion-level Charizard head-on?
But before Lusamine could speak, Charizard had already walked forward.
Whether it was just imagination or not, it seemed to have a slight smirk on its face.
Charizard walked behind Sun Wuming, laughing inwardly.
Hehe, you bipedal creature hurt me so much with that punch before, now that I have a chance for revenge, I won't hold back!
With this thought, Charizard's tail began to glow with dark green energy waves.
In the next instant, its flaming tail swung fiercely toward Sun Wuming's neck.
Lusamine gasped in shock, covering her cherry-like mouth with crossed hands.
She seemed to already envision that strange man's head being chopped off.
Sun Wuming spoke calmly and unhurriedly:
"Haki is mainly divided into two types..."
"Master, watch out!"
At this point, even Marnie couldn't help but become anxious, as Charizard's Dragon Tail was less than five centimeters from Sun Wuming's neck!
However, Sun Wuming's expression remained unperturbed as he continued his explanation:
"For example, right now without looking back I know Charizard is using Dragon Tail to attack the right side of my neck."
As he spoke, Sun Wuming slightly lowered his head by a few centimeters.
Whoosh—
Charizard's Dragon Tail barely grazed Sun Wuming's scalp as it swept past, creating a gust of wind.
As expected of a Champion-level Charizard, right?
Under the shocked gazes of the three, Sun Wuming raised his neck again and said:
"The ability to keenly sense an opponent's 'presence' - this is [Observation Haki], and it's the martial technique you need to learn most right now, because your and your Pokémon's attack patterns are too straightforward."
"Once you master this technique, you can detect enemies' positions, numbers, and even their next actions outside your field of vision."
At this moment, Marnie and the bear disciple weren't showering praise or applauding, but rather staring with gaping mouths.
Once again stunned by Sun Wuming's power.
"Charizard, continue attacking."
Sun Wuming half-turned his head and spoke to Charizard again.
"Wroo—"
A flash of defiance crossed Charizard's eyes as energy exploded from its right hand, its claws growing several times larger, unleashing a sharp attack that could slice through the air.
This time it was Dragon Claw!
At this point, Sun Wuming had already turned his head back and continued speaking to Marnie and the bear disciple:
"Next is Armament Haki..."
