Pokémon: Transforming into Super Saiyan, Arceus Was Stunned

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 — The Most Beautiful Ornament Nessa

Two months later, at the Hulbury Gym in Hulbury.

At this moment, a Gym challenge battle was being held here.

Compared to Gyms in other regions, Chairman Rose of the Galar League was quite generous with the Gym's funding.

Each Gym was as large as a football field, if not larger.

Besides Rose's personal emphasis on Pokémon battles, there was another reason - the Galar region's specialty:

Dynamax!

And now, two Pokémon covered in mysterious red light, their bodies grown so large they nearly burst through the Gym's ceiling.

These were two Dynamaxed Pokémon!

One was Drednaw, a Water-type Pokémon native to the Galar region.

The other was also a Galar-exclusive Pokémon, the Flying-type Corvisquire.

It evolved from Rookidee.

Its final evolution is the famous Flying Taxi driver of the Galar region - Corviknight.

At this moment, both Pokémon were in their Dynamax state.

And on the command platforms on either side stood their trainers.

On the left was naturally Nessa, the Hulbury Gym Leader.

On the right was a boy about 15 years old who looked about 80% similar to Champion Leon.

His name was Hop.

He was Leon's younger brother, which was obvious from his face.

He was also a rookie trainer who had just started his journey this year.

"Ugh..."

At this moment, the Dynamaxed Drednaw let out a cry of pain.

The red light covering its body began to disperse, its giant form rapidly shrinking, returning to normal size within five seconds.

"At its limit?"

Nessa asked, pressing her pink lips together.

This was the drawback of Dynamaxing - after using it, you could only use three max moves.

After that, the Pokémon would forcibly return to normal.

Therefore, knowing when to use Dynamax required extra skill from the trainer.

And this time, Nessa clearly hadn't managed it well.

"All right! Corvisquire! Max Airstream!"

Hop swung his right arm and shouted loudly.

Still in its Dynamax state, Corvisquire let out a cry, flapping its massive wings to unleash a violent windstorm.

In Dynamax form, Pokémon attacks become special Max Moves.

BOOM!!!

For Drednaw, with its Water and Rock typing,

Flying-type moves normally wouldn't do much damage.

But unfortunately, Drednaw was already at its limit.

Combined with the overwhelming power of Max Moves,

The windstorm sent Drednaw's 200-plus pound body flying.

With a "CRASH!" it slammed hard into the wall behind Nessa.

"Drednaw!"

Nessa cried out in concern.

"Ugh..."

Collapsed on the ground, Drednaw struggled to continue fighting, its bent limbs trying desperately to stand up again.

But finally, with a shudder, it fainted.

"Drednaw is unable to battle! Corvisquire wins! As Gym Leader Nessa has lost all three of her Pokémon, the victor is Hop from Postwick!"

The referee announced, raising his flag.

"Yeah!"

Hop jumped and shouted excitedly, running onto the field to hug Corvisquire. "Well done, Corvisquire! We won!"

"Caw!"

Corvisquire threw back its head and responded.

Hop's personality was quite similar to his brother's, though with a bit more foolishness.

Wait... doesn't he seem more like Ash?

Meanwhile, Nessa recalled the fainted Drednaw to its Poké Ball and walked up to Hop, forcing a smile as she said:

"Congratulations, Hop. Here's the Water Badge, it's yours."

"Thank you!"

Hop took the badge and left the Gym, bursting with excitement.

...

...

After the challenge match, Nessa sat alone on a bench at the edge of the arena.

Generally speaking, Gym Leaders are far stronger than ordinary trainers, so when facing challengers,

Gym Leaders would gauge the challenger's strength level and choose their Pokémon accordingly.

Just like Norman, May's father in the Hoenn region.

When facing a new trainer who just received their starter, he wouldn't possibly send out Slaking.

He'd test their abilities with a Vigoroth, and if they showed potential, he'd go easy and give them the badge.

However, in the battle just now, against Hop who had just started his journey this year, Nessa had actually fought with all her might.

And yet... she still lost!

Feeling dejected, Nessa opened her blog to see what fans were saying about her recent battle.

To promote Pokémon battles, audiences were allowed to watch whenever Gym Leaders held challenge matches.

This was also Rose's idea - it both expanded the influence of Pokémon battles and earned ticket revenue.

And as Galar's top model, Nessa's match tickets consistently sold the best.

But the online comments—

[Nessa's performance lately has been terrible]

[Honestly, Leon's brother isn't that skilled, and I heard it's his first year traveling? How could you lose to him?]

[As expected of our Galar League's most beautiful ornament]

[To be honest, I was at the match and just stared at Nessa's legs the whole time...]

[Really, Nessa, you should quit being a Gym Leader and just be a full-time model]

...

...

It has to be said that internet trolls exist in every world.

Just like Raihan, ranked second in the Galar League, who challenges Leon every year but always loses, and gets plenty of mockery from haters.

But reasonable people understand that it's just keyboard warriors who are unsatisfied with their own lives and can only seek attention online.

At least Raihan is a Champion-class trainer.

But Nessa... regrettably, although these comments were harsh,

They were probably 80% true.

The most beautiful ornament.

This nickname was unexpectedly fitting.
