Pokemon: Spiritual Master

Chapter 309: "It’s Just a Baby Articuno" (BONUS)

"Good job, Zigzagoon. You can rest now," Johan said, recalling Zigzagoon after it scavenged enough berries to replenish the team's energy.

The chat immediately flooded with comments like "So touching," "MVP Zigzagoon," and "True unsung hero."

As the battle progressed, Johan replaced Shroomish with Amoonguss after defeating an opponent. The chat's tone began to shift.

Blissey and Amoonguss?

When Johan substituted Volbeat with Whimsicott during the final two matches, the chat lost it completely.

The Final Team:

Whimsicott Amoonguss Blissey

"Is this even a team for humans to use?"

"This isn't speedrunning; this is pure evil."

"Blissey, Whimsicott, and Amoonguss... they're fine on their own, but together? How is this even legal?"

"I feel like throwing up. Where's the trash can?"

Despite the outcry, Johan's unorthodox team managed to complete the entire Battle Factory challenge in six hours, using tactics that left both opponents and spectators in awe—or nausea.

"Thanks for helping me out, team," Johan said, smiling at his quirky lineup.

Chat Reaction:

"Sure, you cleared the Battle Factory, but at what cost?"

"You just proved that weak Pokémon can be strong... but why do I feel like crying?"

While people cursed the team's strategy, the use of Whimsicott, Amoonguss, and Blissey skyrocketed across the Pokémon world. Players eagerly sought to recreate Johan's team, their inner monologues echoing: If I suffered through this, my friends should too.

As Johan entered the Battle Factory's deepest chamber, he was greeted by the sound of gagging.

The Battle Factory's Frontier Brain, Thorton, was hunched over a trash can, still mid-dry heave.

Thorton, a burly, straightforward man with an insatiable curiosity, had eagerly watched Johan's matches to understand his strategies. Unfortunately, his habit of empathizing with the opponents proved... unwise.

"Let's get started, Johan!"

Thorton wiped his mouth, forcing himself to stand tall.

"Are you sure? Want to rest for a moment?" Johan asked, concerned.

"No need!" Thorton boomed, his loud and forceful demeanor belying his earlier weakness.

The final rules allowed challengers to select three Pokémon from both their rented team and their personal roster. Without much preamble, the match began.

Chat Commentary:

"Finally, a straightforward Frontier Brain!"

"Just slap Johan around, Thorton!"

"Wait, is Thorton even mentally ready for this match?"

Thorton's first Pokémon was Camerupt, the Fire/Ground Pokémon resembling a living volcano.

Johan's choice: Whimsicott.

The fluffy Pokémon's playful nature shone as it unleashed Tailwind, boosting the team's speed.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower!"

Camerupt roared, spewing molten flames. The powerful move, with its 150 base power, brought Whimsicott to the brink of fainting—but not quite.

Focus Sash: Whimsicott clung to life.

With a mischievous twinkle, Whimsicott followed up with Fake Tears, dramatically lowering Camerupt's Special Defense.

Johan then swiftly swapped Whimsicott for his next Pokémon.

Johan's second choice: Dragonair.

"Dragonair, Hydro Pump!"

The elegant dragon unleashed a torrent of water, taking full advantage of Camerupt's lowered defenses. The quadruple weakness proved too much, and Camerupt fainted instantly.

"Bruh, he turned certain defeat into a 2-for-1 trade!"

"Whimsicott deserves an award. Protect Whimsicott at all costs!"

After Camerupt's defeat, Johan recalled Dragonair to play reactively, waiting to see Thorton's next move.

Thorton's second Pokémon: Venusaur.

Johan's response?

Ninetales (Alolan).

Snow Warning: As Ninetales entered the field, a snowstorm blanketed the battlefield.

The combo of Tailwind and Snow Warning set the stage for a powerful offense.

"Ninetales, Nasty Plot!" Johan commanded, boosting Ninetales' Special Attack significantly.

"Venusaur, Sleep Powder!" Thorton retaliated.

Venusaur released a cloud of pollen across the field. However, Ninetales countered with Misty Terrain, nullifying the status move entirely.

Chat Commentary:

"'If I can't use status moves, neither can you.' Classic Johan."

"This is why Johan's team is hated and loved simultaneously."

With its strategy thwarted, Venusaur launched Sludge Bomb, but Ninetales responded with Blizzard, decimating the battlefield.

When the icy winds subsided, Venusaur was encased in a sheet of frost, completely knocked out.

"One more to go!"

Thorton's final Pokémon: ???

Just as he reached for his third Pokéball, a piercing cry echoed through the factory.

A Wild Articuno Appears

The legendary Pokémon descended majestically, its cry resonating across the facility.

"Oh no. Someone's trying to cheat!"

Thorton, however, seemed thrilled. "Were you drawn by the snowstorm? What perfect timing!"

Johan: 😑 "It's just a baby Articuno."

Ninetales: (squints skeptically)
