When the match resumed, Kai and Gary shouted their commands simultaneously.

"Gyarados, use Aqua Tail!"

"Nidoking, Double Kick!"

The two Pokémon quickly closed the distance, but the slippery ice gave Gyarados, with its serpentine movements, an advantage over Nidoking, whose footing faltered on the treacherous surface.

As they neared, water began to swirl around Gyarados's massive tail. Nidoking, however, leapt forward, launching a series of kicks.

The first kick struck Gyarados, but before the second could connect, a gust of wind blew past Nidoking's ears. It turned to see Gyarados's thick, water-covered tail swinging toward it.

SMACK!

Nidoking was struck squarely and sent crashing heavily to the side.

Before it could rise, Gyarados lunged forward, jaws wide open, ready to clamp down.

"Nidoking, move quickly!" Gary yelled urgently.

At his Trainer's command, Nidoking scrambled to its feet. With a sharp thrust, it angled its horn toward Gyarados's open mouth and struck hard.

The blow pierced the inside of Gyarados's maw, eliciting a furious roar. Now enraged, Gyarados thrashed uncontrollably, slamming its massive body and head into Nidoking with reckless abandon.

CRASH! CRACK!

Shards of ice flew as the ice field began to fracture under the force of the assault. Nidoking, battered and dazed, struggled to stand but was slammed into the ice once more.

"This is bad!" The commentator, caught in the tension, shouted dramatically. "Gyarados has entered a berserk state! Can Nidoking withstand this relentless fury?"

Gary clenched his fists, eyes locked on Nidoking.

Fortunately, Gyarados's uncontrolled rage meant it wasn't exclusively targeting Nidoking. Its blood-red eyes fixated on anything nearby, and it turned its fury on the surrounding ice chunks.

Under Gyarados's violent thrashing, the ice shattered into fragments, filling the air with icy mist. Amid the chaos, Nidoking managed to escape, dragging its battered body out of Gyarados's range.

Seizing the opportunity, Gary commanded, "Nidoking, use Poison Jab!"

Nidoking's horn glowed with a menacing purple light as it charged forward, despite its injuries, and drove its horn deep into Gyarados's chest.

Gyarados roared again, this time more from pain than rage. But even in its berserk state, it turned its attention back to Nidoking, ready to retaliate.

Realizing the risk, Gary quickly recalled Nidoking to a safe distance. To his frustration, however, the Poison Jab failed to inflict a poisoning effect.

"Tch! Not even Lady Luck is on my side today!" Gary muttered through gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, Kai remained calm, observing the battle closely. He did not attempt to recall Gyarados, waiting instead for it to regain its senses. Finally, when Gyarados began to settle, he issued a new command.

"Gyarados, are you ready? Use Aqua Tail again!"

Gyarados's tail glowed as water swirled around it. It charged forward, but just as Nidoking moved to evade, its footing slipped on the ice, sending it tumbling.

Gary was caught off guard by the unexpected fall. But just as Gyarados closed in, ready to strike, a loud CRACK resounded across the arena.

The ice beneath their feet gave way, plunging both Pokémon into the frigid water below.

SPLASH!

Gary's face went pale. "Oh no!"

The audience and commentator froze in shock. No one had anticipated such an event.

Kai, however, remained composed. This collapse had been part of his strategy all along. He had intentionally positioned Gyarados and Nidoking in this weakened area of the ice, knowing the added weight of their battle would break it.

Underwater, Gyarados moved effortlessly in its natural habitat, while Nidoking, a Ground-type, struggled to stay afloat. Bubbles rose as Nidoking sank deeper into the water.

"Come on, Nidoking!" Gary shouted desperately, attempting to recall it with its Poké Ball. But the murky water obscured his view, and Nidoking was nowhere to be seen.

The commentator stammered, "This... this is unprecedented! The battle has moved entirely underwater!"

The audience stared at the pool, the surface rippling violently.

After several tense moments, the water calmed, and Gyarados suddenly burst from the surface, roaring triumphantly. Its presence left no doubt that the battle had been decided beneath the waves.

Gary's heart sank as Nidoking failed to resurface.

Kai, aware of Nidoking's inability to swim, gestured to Gyarados. The serpentine Pokémon dove back into the water.

Moments later, it emerged, carrying Nidoking's unconscious body with its tail, gently placing it on the shore.

The audience erupted into cheers as the referee raised his flag, and the commentator exclaimed, "It's over! What an incredible battle! Gyarados emerges victorious in an unforeseen underwater showdown!"

Gary could only watch in silence as his Nidoking lay defeated, while Kai stood confidently, his strategy and Gyarados's strength securing his victory.
