Chapter 422: Chapter 10: Worship

That afternoon, while Ash was engrossed in his rigorous training routine, Casey lingered around his camp, reluctant to leave.

Unwilling to interrupt Ash's focus, she turned to Misty instead, seeking advice on training techniques.

Although Casey was a novice Trainer, she couldn't help but notice the stark contrast in intensity between her own methods and Ash's. His demanding regimen felt overwhelming, a level she wasn't ready to attempt.

Misty, however, presented a different dynamic.

Though Misty's skills were undoubtedly advanced, her approachable demeanor and sisterly warmth made it easier for Casey to ask questions without hesitation.

Misty's methods, while challenging, felt more relatable and adjustable to Casey's current abilities.

Even with the adjustments, however, Casey's Pokémon—Chikorita and Pidgey—found the training exhausting. After just an hour, both were sprawled out in the shade, thoroughly worn out.

"Come on, you two! I've got something special for you!" Casey called out, holding up plates of food.

In addition to learning about training strategies, Casey had sought out Brock's advice on meal preparation for Pokémon.

Following his guidance, she had prepared something personalized for each of her partners.

Chikorita, initially too fatigued to move, perked up as soon as it caught the aroma of Nanab Berry—its absolute favorite.

The sweet, banana-like scent was perfectly balanced, neither too rich nor too faint, just as Chikorita liked it.

Nearby, Pidgey sniffed the air curiously. Though it was recovering from its earlier battle, its curiosity quickly turned to delight when it saw the food.

Pidgey had a preference for the slightly bitter Wepear Berry, a flavor that not all Pokémon enjoyed but suited Pidgey's palate perfectly.

Brock had told Casey that Wepear Berries weren't just a treat; their long-term consumption could boost a Pokémon's cognitive abilities, helping with strategic thinking and move precision.

Both Pokémon eagerly dug into their meals, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten. Their satisfied chirps and cries brought a proud smile to Casey's face.

To top it off, Casey treated them to a dessert of MooMoo Milk, another tip from Brock.

Although her family wasn't particularly wealthy, Casey made an effort to provide her Pokémon with the nourishing milk whenever possible, believing it was worth the investment for their health and happiness.

Meanwhile, Ash continued his own training, his Pokémon working with an intensity that reflected their bond with their Trainer.

Pikachu and Charizard required little supervision, having developed their own training routines over time. Haunter, too, was incorporating elements of Aerial Ace into its unique style.

Snorlax, being newer to Ash's team, followed a training plan under Ash's close watch, ensuring it avoided unnecessary mistakes.

Gyarados focused on mastering its Combat Twister technique, a demanding but crucial skill. Despite the high energy cost, Ash believed in Gyarados's potential to perfect it.

Lapras, acutely aware of its position as the team's least experienced member, worked with unwavering determination.

It wanted to prove itself worthy of standing alongside the others and not become a liability.

From her spot under the shade of a tree, Casey watched Ash's dedication, her admiration for him growing with every passing moment.

The more she observed, the more inspired she felt. His relentless drive and unshakable bond with his Pokémon were unlike anything she had ever seen.

"I wonder if I'll ever be as good as him," Casey murmured, resting her elbows on her knees and propping her chin on her hands as she gazed at Ash.

Hearing her soft words, Chikorita and Pidgey exchanged determined glances. They didn't want to let Casey down; they wanted to grow stronger for her sake.

Mustering their remaining energy, they sprang to their feet, ready to resume training.

Casey's face lit up as she saw their resolve. Standing tall, she called out, "I'm with you! Let's keep going, Chikorita! Pidgey! We're not giving up!"

Her spirited encouragement caught the attention of Ash and his team.

Ash smiled approvingly, nodding slightly. He understood the importance of the bond between Trainer and Pokémon. Without mutual trust and shared effort, true progress was impossible.

The rest of the afternoon flew by in a flurry of activity. By the time evening rolled around, even the most seasoned Pokémon, like Pikachu and Charizard, showed signs of fatigue.

For Chikorita and Pidgey, who were still adapting to such rigorous training, the exhaustion was palpable.

Fortunately, Brock had anticipated their needs and prepared a restorative meal to help the Pokémon recover more quickly.

As they sat down for dinner, Casey couldn't contain her gratitude. "Thank you so much! I learned so much from all of you today!"

"Trainers are meant to support each other," Misty replied warmly, sitting beside her.

"Misty's absolutely right," Ash added, nodding thoughtfully. "I wouldn't have come this far without her and Brock's help. A Trainer's journey isn't something you tackle alone."

Brock smiled at the sentiment, reflecting on how his own life had changed since leaving Pewter Gym to travel with Ash and Misty.

Casey's eyes sparkled as she looked around at the group. "It's amazing to meet people like you. I hope one day I can help others the way you've helped me."

Ash smiled. "With your determination, Casey, I'm sure you will."
