After a night's rest, Liam got up in the morning and took out exchanged Pokémon food for Gible, Nidorino, and Arbok to ensure they were well-fed.

He planned to challenge the Viridian Gym today and wanted his Pokémon to be in their best condition.

Yesterday, Liam spent 10,000 PokeDollars to exchange for ten elemental evolution stones of various types. Now, only 1,300 PokeDollars remained on him—an amount that wasn't insignificant but still required careful management.

Determined to earn more, he decided to proceed with the gym challenge, which offered both rewards and valuable points.

Liam gently stroked his newly evolved Arbok and accessed its updated stats.

Arbok's transformation had brought remarkable changes, adding four new moves and narrowing the base stat gap by two points.

Its overall strength had increased significantly, bolstering Liam's confidence for today's gym battle.

With his Pokémon fed and energized, Liam returned them to their PokeBalls, gathered his belongings, and left his room.

In the rundown building's lobby, Giovanni and Takeshi were already deep in discussion. Noticing Liam's arrival, they called him over.

"Liam, I thought over your suggestion last night and came up with a plan. Let me run it by you to see if you spot any issues," Giovanni said.

Liam nodded, listening attentively.

Giovanni outlined his strategy, which involved establishing their base in the expansive Viridian Forest. He highlighted its vastness for concealment, resource availability, and familiarity, which made it ideal for their operations.

Once they resolved the poaching issues in the forest, their influence could gradually expand outward.

Liam agreed with a nod. The decision to build Team Rocket's base there was logical. Stabilizing their foothold in Viridian Forest would simplify future endeavors.

"I'm no expert in this area, so I'll defer to your judgment in these matters, Giovanni. From now on, I'm also a member, so please take care of me," Liam said, smiling.

Privately, he was exhilarated—never had he imagined he'd become a founding member of Team Rocket.

"We're all family here," Giovanni said, shaking his head. "You're free to call me Boss Giovanni if you like, but don't worry about formalities or rules. None of that applies to you. I'd honestly prefer it if you'd call me by my name."

"Alright, Boss," Liam laughed. "But I'm currently traveling for the League Challenges, so I won't be able to assist you for a while."

Giovanni waved off his concerns. "That's fine. Focus on your journey. By the way, were you planning to challenge the Viridian Gym Leader? How did it go?"

Liam sighed. "I heard about you from the Gym Leader yesterday, so I didn't have time for the challenge. I was heading there just now when you called me over."

Before Liam could continue, Takeshi interrupted excitedly. "You're heading to the gym now? Let's go cheer you on!"

Without waiting for a response, Takeshi dashed upstairs. After a loud commotion, he returned with a group of enthusiastic children.

Liam stared at them, exasperated.

Giovanni chuckled at Liam's expression. "They'll only watch. Let them learn by observing battles—it'll help them pick up skills for self-defense."

Resigned, Liam relented. "Alright, fine. You can all come."

"Yay! We get to watch a battle!" the children cheered.

"But—" Liam raised his voice, causing everyone to fall silent.

"You need to fix your clothes and wash your faces first," he said, eyeing the disheveled, sleepy-faced group.

Meanwhile, in a distant building in Lavender Town, a phone rang in a spacious, shadowy office. The person seated at the desk answered slowly.

"Hello? What is it?"

Voice on the phone: "Leader, one of our squads capturing Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon in Viridian Forest has been compromised. The squad leader, Fang, was arrested by the police. Should we recall the remaining teams for safety?"

Leader: "Hmph, that fool Fang. It's better he's out of the picture. But since he'll likely expose us, instruct all squads to regroup at Mt. Moon immediately. I've received intelligence about a meteorite that recently crashed there. Such treasures are highly sought after by wealthy buyers."

Voice: "Understood, I'll notify them right away."

The leader hung up, resting his chin on clasped hands as a cold smile crossed his face.

"There's something peculiar about this," he muttered. "Don't you think so?"

From the shadows behind him, a faint black figure emerged, emitting a chilling laugh.

"Hehehehehe…"
