Chapter 1797: Mystics: Royale (2)

Within a mountain range with two prominent curved peaks, both of equal height dwarfing the others, aligned in a perfect line that resembled the horns of an ox, there existed a tribe that worshipped a Genesis Beast of an ancient bovine lineage. The tribe was known by its neighbors as the Spring Tribe, gentle and peaceful, they rarely partook in violent actions such as pillaging or wars.

Meanwhile, their guardian beast—Gorg, was a gentle beast that protected the surroundings and all the living entities within as long as they did not disrupt its peace. Over the last five hundred years the Spring Tribe had cultivated a relationship with Gorg, slowly allowing it to acknowledge their existence, actively completing certain tasks such as moving large objects.

Within this mountain range, within this tribe, there was a young man at the tender age of fifteen with an ambitious heart and a strong body. He loved to climb to the peak of the horn-like mountains, basking his tanned skin in the radiant stars above, and feeling the breeze of the wind coursing through his air.

At the moment, he stood, frozen in time, with his arms spread wide and his eyes closed at the very peak of the mountain, standing on its edge, fearlessly enjoying the breeze that fluttered his locks of unruly dark hair. The europhia within his heart was abundantly clear at a single glance.

Tianshi Ya's Spiritual Sense descended here, lingering for a while, initially out of curiosity, then out of interest, and then, as she delved further, out of shock. This person had two innate talents—a physique and a psyche. The physique was seeded within the great earth while his psyche had qualities of boundless wind, the two complemented each other to formulate a strong body and an agile mind.

A perfect candidate.

She chose him.

Baiyou Kingdom.

Within a scented room with a variety of nightly, sensual tools and a warm, comforting decor a middle-aged man was reaching into his brown bag at the edge of a bed, seemingly about to pull out a sack of coins. Meanwhile, his eyes seemed dazed, and drowsy, while the veins on his neck were a little thick. If an apothecary was present, they would recognize that the man had been poisoned.

A lady of the night was frozen behind him. She was pretty without much effort, yet the layers of rouge disguised her flawlessly, granting her a look as if skilled in the particular profession of pleasing others, and if she were to remove it, walk along the common streets, without a close look, it would be difficult to decipher her identity.

Her eyes were calm to an unsettling degree, yet they radiated a serene killing intent as she held a sharp dagger, on the verge of slamming it into the man's neck with all of her strength. If pierced through, the man's jugular vein would be severed, while his windpipe would be pierced. If he didn't bleed out first, he would certainly drown in his own blood.

Qin Yingyin's Spiritual Sense descended to this moment. The hapless target, unaware of his upcoming death, hoping for a great time in exchange for a little wealth that he'd worked hard to acquire, and the pretty assassin hired to lure him, seduce him, and slay him during these nightly activities.

She chose her.

Hongli Kingdom.

A young girl, fourteen years in age, was pouting beside a pond, using a stick to poke the water with an absentminded expression. She had delicate skin, and good and clean clothing, and an older female maidservant watched over her diligently in the distance, ensuring she remained safe and her needs were met. From her features, it was quite clear she was destined to be a kingdom-toppling beauty.

She wore the sigil of a noble house, both as a talisman that hung on her waist and as embroidery etched into her dress.

With white pearly teeth and freshly styled her, one could determine this girl's life from birth to now had very little hardship, yet her absentminded expression provoked the curiosity of a scouring Spiritual Sense.

Yue Baoyue's curiosity led her to use her Temporal Eye. She learned that this young woman had just learned that there was a standing marriage contract for her towards another noble house—a young man said to be untalented and useless.

She was dazed because she had already developed a natural love for another, and was reluctant to accept that her future happiness would be determined by her parents and grandparents.

While her current love might not last, likely a fleeting one generated by the springtime of youth and naivety, the fact remained that she had no control over her marriage. If only she had the talent for cultivation, she would be able to become like her eldest sister, free of any restraints, allowing her to choose her future, explore the world, and love who she wanted to love.

If only…

Yue Baoyue's heart was moved. She decided to involve herself. Moreover, after inspecting the girl's actualized past, she realized that her talent for cultivation was hidden away by her parents for the sake of connecting their families to another noble house, and only because her eldest sister was supposed to do so instead. This would prevent a repeat.

They isolated all avenues of cultivation from her and kept her under constant surveillance.

It was a little extreme. In their minds, however, they were making the best decision for their family's future, and this boy might be useless with parents who were presumed dead, but the businesses he acquired from his lineage would be absorbed by them as a dowry, and this would bring them greater wealth and influence within the capital.

She decided to choose her.

Hongli Kingdom.

Grand Seer Rippledark's Spiritual Sense was about an easy-going young man, about seventeen years old, who

rested on a thick branch of a tree, avoiding the notice of a butler. This butler had purposefully ignored the boy's presence while pretending to look for him, maintaining the appearance of being a non-cultivator, when he was a False Reality Phase Cultivator, at the Sixth Stage of the Astral Core Realm, and one of the strongest cultivators within the capital!

The butler had sustained some damage to his cultivation base throughout his years, commonly seen in cultivators who fought many battles, while his age meant his vitality wasn't as prominent as before, he still had a good hefty few decades of lifespan remaining.

The young man belonged to a declining noble house, his parents inherited the title of nobility for their efforts during the last great war, and he was blessed with status as a result of their contribution to the kingdom. Because of that, when they went missing, he was left alone with a lingering marriage contract made by his parents.

As an only child, he had great responsibility, but many predators had their eyes on his property and his family businesses that they cultivated over the last decade or so, all doing outstandingly well. Moreover, it was determined that he had a set of stunted meridians that made absorbing essence supremely difficult, no different than a cripple that couldn't embark on the path of cultivation.

Because of this, his former marriage partner had canceled their agreement while relying on her background after becoming a disciple to one of the great sects to a cultivator at False Reality Phase, said to possess god-like powers. After a rather humiliating meeting, the contract was voided.

However, when he thought he would be free of such responsibility, the contract wasn't dissolved but moved to the younger sibling of that house. That was fine too. As long as he could honor his parents' wishes, he didn't mind in the slightest.

Grand Seer Rippledark didn't need to use his Temporal Eye to gather the fortune on this boy, his attunement to the Heavenly Daos was enough.

Interestingly enough, he found it amusing that the master of the eldest sister wanted to sever any chance at revenge, hoping to stage a suicide of this young man, yet the butler protecting him from the shadows and the master of the eldest sister had fought a grand battle in the capital.

As for the fate of his parents, they were sent on a mission by the King in secret.

They were dead.

Grand Seer Rippledark chose him.

Wei Wuyin stared at the stage globe at the center of the jade table.

'Isn't this a little unfair?' Wei Wuyin thought to himself as he glanced at the three cards he drew, completely at 'random'.

He didn't tamper with the cards in the slightest, especially since the Mythical Contracts prevented that type of action, and his contract was still intact.

(Heaven) Alchemic Blessing, Foundation - Bestow a Chosen with a Blessing of seven Alchemical Products less than or equal to the world's strongest cultivation base[Current: World Sea Phase; Blessing Limit: Seventh-Grade]. Must be a Foundation-type Product.

(Heaven) Guiding Dao, Descent - For (Five Years), you may guide your Chosen as a Spiritual Entity. You may sacrifice this Spiritual Entity's form to draw an (Earth) Life Card within three years of the allotted time limit.

(Earth) Assisting Life, Hidden - You may Mark a Chosen of your choice. Upon near death, this card will secure their life and cultivation base, preventing permanent crippling effects. This effect can be negated, but only before its effect activates.

"..." Wei Wuyin glanced at his Bloodline of Sin tattoo. He was an Empyrean; there was no way his set of Mystic Cards now or later wasn't bound to be incredible, but this was almost downright unfair. There were tens of thousands of cards and only one of each Heaven Card that could be drawn at any time, which included all players, and he acquired two of them.

Well, this was expected.

Wei Wuyin sent his spiritual will into the Defiant Dragon Continent, and he felt a mental tug. He followed without resisting and descended upon a nine-month-old pregnant young woman who was rushing through the forest with all her might, chased by cultivators on houses. Her expression was one of fear, and pain, yet an unyielding will. Despite being caked in dirt, barefoot, and with rippled clothes running through the woods, she didn't cry or surrender.

This was the location he was pulled to.

'This works.'

Wei Wuyin made his choice within the first second of his descent.
