Otherworld Destruction Gallery

Chapter 39

Title: Explaining the Monster Wave

I’m here to explain for the shut-ins who spend all their time browsing the gallery and have no idea about the outside world.

Mutation Wave

(Picture of a twisted deer mutant monster)

(Picture of the Bone Dragon roaring)

Yeah, the type of wave you guys are most familiar with.

A named monster or specific beast mutates, becomes insanely strong, and rampages, destroying everything in its path.

It’s manageable.

The mutated monsters from Elad last time were part of this category.

Rift Wave

(Picture of an army of monsters)

(Picture of flames consuming everything, cities and lands being obliterated)

This is literally a wave where rifts open, and monsters pour out.

From just the pictures, you can tell it’s different from a mutation wave.

But if handled calmly, it can be managed—except, screw that, it can’t be managed at all.

If the scale grows even a little, it turns into a full-scale war, so yeah, just consider yourself screwed.

-LOL, this guy’s sudden rant is hilarious.

-Thanks for the info, WikiShinmok!

-Fact: It’s a fact.

-How many nations were destroyed during the Great War?
ㄴ Look it up yourself, don’t you have hands or feet?

ㄴ Here’s one can of tuna.

ㄴ Currently, there are fewer than ten nations left on the continent.

Historically, before the Great War, there were at least 20 countries, including small states and city-states.

So, more than three-quarters of them were wiped out. Estimated at 21+ nations.

ㄴ Okay, thanks. Barter received.

ㄴ Thank you, teacher. Bless you.

ㄴ LOL, this tuna can is really effective.

ㄴ Suddenly, everyone’s manners are overflowing. LOL.

ㄴ How can you resist tuna cans? Haha.

“And the monsters invading here are part of the mutation wave, right?”

It’s the same kind of wave as the Bone Dragon that appeared in Elad last time.

It’s manageable, but if preparations are insufficient, even a small nation could get wiped out.

Didn’t the Kingdom of Kelton fall to continuous mutation waves in the past?

“Well, we have steel, so…”

Since investing in steel for Kellyerton, the forges haven’t stopped for days.

However, Kellyerton lacked proper molds for weapons and the technical skills for refining.

But this was a problem that could be solved easily enough.

Title: LOL, What Do You Think of My Steel Sword?

(Picture of a weapon forged from melted steel)

(Picture of a crude and uneven result)

-A bit disappointing, but oh well.

-This level’s top-tier, right? Agree?

-You’re seriously something else.

-What the hell is this?

ㄴ OP: ? Why are you all so angry?

ㄴ Is refining just a joke to you?

ㄴ Turning gold into trash and calling it top-tier, huh.

ㄴ Do you want to get a top-tier beating?

ㄴ This is an insult to blacksmiths.

-That quality of sword from that much steel? Seriously?

ㄴ Why doesn’t the Head Moderator give us any?

ㄴ Brother, why are you torturing us?!

Title: Dwarf Masters, Please Evaluate.jpg

(Picture of uneven steel armor)

(Picture of a steel shield with thick and thin spots)

-Be honest, isn’t this awesome? LOL.

-I think it’s sturdier and stronger than Dwarven weapons.

(Picture of a Dwarven axe)

ㄴ (Picture of Dwarven armor and soldiers)

ㄴ OP: Oh, comparing it to my work?

ㄴ (Picture of a Dwarven weapon splitting a wooden figure in half)

ㄴ I’ll find you and do this to you.

ㄴ OP: …

He unintentionally provoked the Dwarves.

To Dwarves, the crude weapons flooding the gallery were the ultimate insult.

I could make something better with my feet.

(Screaming Dwarf meme)

After a day of seeing shoddy gear, the Dwarves couldn’t take it anymore.

They volunteered to refine steel for humans—for free.

“Humans, I’ll just make it for you. Stop already.”

“I’ll do it for free. Please, just stop.”

ㄴ Never seen Dwarves this angry before.

ㄴ They look angrier than when monsters invaded.

ㄴ Human forging skills = Losing a war to monsters.

Thanks to this, within just a few short days, a large number of weapons and armor were produced.

By the time the monsters reached Kellyerton’s capital, the preparations were complete.

“Kieeek!”

A rainy evening with heavy downpours.

The wave of ghouls had begun.

-Damn, the ghouls are swarming in hordes.

-Can we even win this?

But the knights are wearing steel armor, so maybe we can push them back somehow.

Tough skin, overwhelming numbers.

And relentless persistence, even after taking fatal injuries.

“The monsters are climbing up here!”

One by one, the monsters began scaling the tall walls.

“Kyaaaah!”

“You stubborn ghoul!”

Thrust, stab.

Three soldiers rushed at the first monster that climbed up and stabbed it with their spears and swords.

But the ghoul didn’t die easily; instead, it struggled violently, draining the soldiers’ strength.

This was the most troublesome trait of ghouls.

“Don’t panic! Push them back calmly!”

The knight, Alfred, climbed onto the wall and led the soldiers while cutting down the monsters.

At least two at a time with each swing.

Though he was a monstrous knight, even he couldn’t avoid leaving gaps when faced with sheer numbers.

“Sir Knight, behind you!”

“!”

A mutated ghoul that commanded the swarm appeared.

Its sharp claws could easily pierce a human’s thin skin.

And with its venom, even avoiding a scratch would likely lead to death.

“Damn it…!”

“Keeeeeek!”

By the time Alfred realized it, the claws were already inches away from his helmet.

As death loomed, Alfred shut his eyes tightly.

Clang!

“Kyaaaak!”

“Huh?”

With a clear sound, the mutated ghoul’s claws bent backward.

(Picture of a smiling Head Moderator girl with a goat)

-Once again, I’ve been saved… goat…

-Was it you again, Head Moderator?

-The drawing is insanely good, LOL.

-Wait, why does this image even exist?

-So this is what the Head Moderator looks like?

ㄴ It’s an imagined depiction of the Head Moderator based on all the gallery rumors.

Title: Divine

(Picture of steel alongside the goat)

-Ahhh, so blinding!

-LOL, “so blinding,” I can’t.

-What kind of meme is this now? LOL.

-Just how many variations are they going to make? LOL.

In the end, the result was a decisive victory.

The ghouls’ fangs and long claws couldn’t pierce through the steel plates.

At first, they anticipated a prolonged battle on the walls, but since the ghouls couldn’t pierce the steel, they opened the gates and hunted the ghouls instead.

(Picture of the knight smiling brightly)

“Keep scratching—only you’re losing out. LOL.”

-LOL, look at that happy expression.

-W-What is this?

-Ghouls screeching in despair!

ㄴ (Monster looking awkward… meme)

So how did they really win?

ㄴ 1. Wear steel armor.

ㄴ 2. Lift the monster.

ㄴ … 21. The monster gets smashed to death.

ㄴ ??

ㄴ Shockingly, that’s a fact.

“They can’t pierce it at all.”

It was essentially a medieval tank.

Unless it was a troll pounding on it, nothing with blades could penetrate it.

Of course, the knights’ absurd strength played a big role too.

Title: Head Moderator, I Love You So Much

(Picture of 6mm-thick steel armor)

(Picture of a fully armored knight giving a thumbs-up)

-It’s a bit heavy, but the defense is absolutely insane.

-Just went toe-to-toe with a troll one-on-one and absolutely crushed it.

-6mm? Don’t even bother being a knight.

ㄴ Seriously, not even 1cm, and it’s 6mm? LOL.

ㄴ What a mad lad.

Is that heavy for you?

ㄴ If the Head Moderator saw this, they’d sigh.

ㄴ Shouldn’t knight armor be at least 1cm thick?

ㄴ OP: Maybe you’re right. I feel bad wasting steel from the Head Moderator.

ㄴ OP: I’ll train harder and try a 1cm set next time.

Head Moderator☆) ? How does this even happen?

-Typical armor thickness is 1.5mm.

The combination of the Great War and medieval times left only the truly strong alive.

-1.5mm? Why even bother wearing armor?

-1cm should be standard for knights, come on, LOL.

“Oh no, I’m so scared.”

Moreover, the steel touched the knights’ hearts.

Knights, who often roamed unarmed due to a lack of materials, found their dreams fulfilled.

After the Kellyerton Wave, the gallery was flooded with crazy steel armor content.

Personal review of my new 2cm-thick steel armor?

Just got a massive steel-plated shield; is it top-tier?

I don’t know why, but I feel good. Even when hit, it doesn’t hurt—it’s almost satisfying.

They started using even more steel to fully cover their bodies in steel armor.

The perception of a knight shifted to “a person who can move while wearing steel armor.”

And Kellyerton seized this opportunity.

“What is this.”

The unintended consequences of distributing steel turned out to be significant.

The supply of steel was limited, and not just anyone could handle its weight.

As a result, it was naturally distributed only to knights, sparking intense interest in the knight profession.
